My mom and I were in Dresden for two nights and wanted good beer and bratwurst. I found this place online, and we took off on public transportation. The tram we were on for some reason stopped running, and we don't speak any German, so we didn't know why or what do do. It was raining and freezing, and I wanted to give up, but we eventually made it somehow, and it was worth it. We had an amazing hot pretzel with brie cheese spread to start while we shared a beer sampler to decide what beers we wanted. We then had the best bratwurst I've ever had. It was bursting with flavor and so juicy and tender. The ambiance is wonderful too. It's in this huge old building and there were at least three large dining rooms. We picked the room near the front where cute booths curved all around the room. The back room has great views of the river. The servers were both really lovely and patient as we asked questions and decided on our meal. Wish I could go back! read more

Great pork knuckle, great beer. I bet this place is a real hoot when there's live music (which there appears to be once in a while). It's also pretty close to a street car line so even though it seems a bit farther away from the main attractions it's still quite accessible and you should go when you're in Dresden. read more

The food and beer here are fantastic! I didn't take pictures because we devoured our food as soon as it was sat in front of us, but it involved sauerkraut, potatoes, Cole slaw (which was so delicious) and perfectly tender pork. This place was quite busy on a Thursday evening and we had to share our table with other guests. But there are good reasons for it: - Their beer is very good (I tried their unfiltered Pils and the Altpieschner) - Depending on your seat, you can overlook a scenic part of the Elbe river - The food is decently priced and very yummy (if you like German food) - It felt like a local pub with only few tourists - Service was decent All in all, one of the best experiences in Dresden. read more

The Watzke is a brewery, which means, they really brew their own beer. I recommend the Altpieschener beer. If you have time, you should go there on Tuesday, because then there is Maßbier-day, which means that you get one liter of beer for 4,50EUR. The food is reaaaally good, even though they don't offer much for vegeterians. In summer, you can sit outside, have a beer there and enjoy the fantastic view on the Elbe river and the city centre of Dresden. Furthermore, the waiters are really good, fast and always offer you the next beer. For those who don't like beer I can recommend you the Limettentraum which is pretty close to Caipirinha. Just trust me and go there! read more

totally awesome place. for a typical biergarten atmosphere located directly by the river, this place offers really good food and drinks all for a more than fair price. a short distance from the touristic areas but definitely worth it. plus they brew their own beer :) read more
