A few days prior to our reservation,…read morehe receives a call that they had a broken pipe and no water in the home and would need to reschedule. Understandable. So, they rescheduled us for a month later when the room was available again. The day before, my fiance called to confirm our reservation was still good, since they never called a few days prior like they had stated they would, and was told we were good to go for the next day. We packed, took our dogs to the dog sitter and we're about to head out, when hrs before our check in time he received a text that they had pest control services happening and were unable to make the upstairs beds so they would need to again reschedule the reservation. How can this even be true when he spoke to the lady the day prior?!?! You didn't know pest control was coming the next day?!?! Was told once again they would need to reschedule but didn't know when the room was available till Monday. Here it is Thursday, and no call to reschedule. Absolutely horrible service!!!! Sorry we didn't care to do the money maker murder mystery, I assume this is why we keep getting excuses as to why we have to be rescheduled, but we still deserved better service than what we have received. Do better!!!!

(Bring bug spray and check for ticks) The natural landscaping was intoxicating with honeysuckle as far as you could see with cute little eccentric touches throughout the property. We planned our days with swimming, fishing, napping, and dinner, too. Jamil's Steak House was wonderful and recommended by our hosts. We ate off site a couple of times, but we enjoyed brunch with our host, Heather, the most in the common area. The fishing was eventful with about 12 snags of different kinds, blue gill, perch, big mouth bass, and crappie. The husband smiled ear-to-ear on the dock, pulling one out right after another. The Cottage came fully equipped, and the bed was super soft! We came to relax and that is just the prescription we received! Oh yeah! The ground pets, Larry, his brother Darrell and his other brother Darrell were a great comical team!

But this year, my significant other decided at the last minute to join me. While separately searching, we both found this gem, BarDew Valley Inn! And what a find it was! The owner, Perry, was exceptionally accommodating to us and the other guests. Our room, New Orleans, was absolutely stunning! The daily 9 am breakfasts were prepared with care and incredibly scrumptious. The house was beautiful and nightly movie nights in the Theater always the best way to top off the day. There are several themed suites. I stayed in the New York suite, which was a cleaner, more modern feel with several NYC motifs. There is also a New Orleans suite, a cowboy suite, and a French suite. He is currently working on an Asian themed suite. Each suite has its own bath and private entrance, as well as patio space to enjoy the evenings. There is wooded space and a pond out front with sitting areas. Very quiet and on a dead end, so no traffic. The rooms have comfy beds, wonderful, luxurious bedding, and a mattress warmer, which I loved! Each room has a refrigerator and Perry supplies bottled water, a keurig, coffee pods, glasses/cups, an ice bucket, extra blankets. A booklet with info on local restaurants and attractions. Everything you'd need! While I stayed here for work and kept to myself, Perry checked in with me often to make sure I didn't need anything. Other guests used the common areas more, like the movie room/game room and the kitchen. One night Perry built a fire in the fire pit. It would be a great place for people who want to socialize and meet new folks. Perry also makes breakfast every morning. I had to start work very early, so didn't partake, but other guests have raved about it. Perry really does open his home up to everyone and is very gregarious and gracious. It would be a great getaway for anyone wanting to explore the area. My suite was 139 a night, a great value.

While we were there for the first time my son paddled a boat, caught a fish, roasted marshmallows, threw a lasso, used a bow and arrow, slingshot, BB rifle, Henry rifle, 6 shooter, and Atlatl.
