My husband and I found The Dominion House in Guthrie by accident about 5 years ago. When we first started staying here, it had a restaurant. The last few years it has not had the restaurant, but it is still well worth the visit! I have never stayed in a more beautiful and comfortable place than the Dominion House. The staff is always so nice and accommodating. The breakfast is amazing! Sylvia has been here the last few years and her breakfast burritos are amazing! We did an igloo for a birthday celebration. We had four adults in our party. The food and atmosphere were excellent! That's what made this place wonderful. The igloo atmosphere was excellent and something unique. We easily met the $25 min per person. The appetizers were large in my opinion. Three out of four of us ordered the steak and fries. We all had multiple drinks too. So the total for 2 hours with four adults with tip was over $400. That didn't include the rental fee that was prepaid. So the only thing that I would change would be to apply the $90 rental fee towards the food. That is the only reason I didn't give 5 stars. We went to the Dominion House last night for my daughters birthday and had a great time. We dined in one of the igloos for a cool experience. The grounds and building are beautiful and lit up; it was our first time here. When I reserved the igloo I was told there was an $80 reservation fee, which they didn't take at reservation, and the lady did advise me that each person needed to spend $25. I had seen the photos on their website and asked how to order food as table space was limited, she said usually it is pizza and appetizers that work best. Our waitress was a really sweet girl who told me it was her first time waiting on the igloo and she was under 21 so the bartender had to bring our drinks; we appreciated her honesty as some waitstaff don't tell you they're just learning. The entire party really liked the waitress; she was nice, honest and continually tried to improve our evening. We ordered 8 drinks, 7 were delivered by the bartender. We mentioned there was one missing the the bartender snapped back that they were being delivered as made.... it would seem you just wait for the one remaining vodka tonic at that point. The waitress offered that it may have been her fault and maybe she didn't enter it, she apologized and went to correct it. When the bartender brought it out, 20 minutes later, she said, "vodka soda" and we replied "tonic?" She said, "yeah, whatever". This happened over the course of the evening, soda and tonic are absolutely not interchangeable. The other weird thing was that the should be clear vodka drinks were slightly pink and we couldn't figure out why So, the igloo was cool. Small table, no full meal unless you want to hold it in your lap. There was a small electric heater in there and blankets. It was cold so they brought out a second heater which tripped all the power off. After a few drinks and food it warmed up a little, but really was too cold. We ordered bread/hummus, wings and 7 pizzas. I think if the igloos are primarily best for small plates they need to add more small plate items to the menu. They had 5-6 items in their appetizer menu, one of which was rice .... . This is where a good charcuterie board would be perfect, why they haven't thought of this is beyond me. Our good came out on two trips, about 8-12 minutes apart. The food was really good, but very cramped because there was no where to put food/plates/drinks all at the same time. It would be best to order in phases and do small plates but by the time we got our food we were so hungry we didn't really think about splitting it up. We brought our own birthday cake, they were fine with keeping it in the fridge for us and bringing it out. That was nice. What we liked: The igloo concept Our waitress The food The cocktails/drink list was fun What we didn't like: The snappy bartender The drink/food delays (if you've worked in the food industry you know this wasn't the waitress, it was a kitchen/bar delay) The igloo was way too cold for being advertised as heated. The igloo zipper kept getting stuck, it probably needs waxed or replaced. When we left everyone was nice and asked how it was. When we said it was way too cold and there were food delays, there was no compensation or real apology. Yeah, I post pictures to Yelp during weddings. I'm that obsessed with Yelp. The date of upload is a day off on all of my reviews. W/e. Anyway, my second cousin Travis was getting married and I NEEDED a reason to get outta Vegas so I bought my plane ticket real quick and flew, sans family, to this shindig. My cousin and his fiance, Taylor, picked the Dominion House for their 11/11/11 wedding. I've been to Guthrie a handful of times, but never in the pitch black of night so finding the place to park was not as easy as, say, probably during the day. It was FREEZING outside so when we had to walk from the ceremony (indoors) through the garden and around the front lawn to get to the reception (indoors, in the same building) I wasn't thrilled. The food, I'm assuming, was probably in house catering and was good. The A/V set up was not good - you couldn't hear any of the speeches or what was going on. If the Dominion House was in charge of the set up/layout of the wedding, which I'm assuming they were as they have wedding packages, they need to make the dance floor, slide show, place where people grab the mic to make a speech near the cake and tables were people sat because either you missed the speeches or you missed the cake cutting because they were on opposite sides of the ballroom. I'm sure this place is pretty in the daylight and I'd give this a better review if the set up here was better. (P.S. the bathrooms are upstairs.) The Dominion house is a very cool wedding venue about 30 minutes north of OKC. I attended a wedding in the garden area, which is gorgeous. It has lovely flowers and a water feature. The parking is plentiful, but there isn't much signage. Luckily, they had a person directing us. The reception was held on the first floor. They have a bar but didn't have a sign with drink options. That tiny detail would have made the line move much more quickly. The inside is just as beautiful as outside. The wedding party decided to serve pizza, which was so yummy, but the kitchen couldn't keep up with the amount of people. The pizzas were small and only came out one at a time. The acoustics aren't very good, so make sure your DJ has extra speakers. We couldn't hear the speeches that were given. All and all, a lovely venue. Could be perfect with a few tweaks. read more

This is definitely one of the best hotels I've visited in a long time. It felt like I was visiting someone for a high tea! The building is beautiful and its perfectly nestled inside Guthrie, Oklahoma. The shrubbery is well maintained and prestine. Its perfect for weddings and getaways. Also, whoever is responsible for the interior decor deserves a round of applause. The customer service was impeccable! We were even treated to a free upgrade and I fell in love with the claw foot bathtub. All my worries melted away on my stay, thank you! read more

A super unique and fun experience! It was a super intimate time- my fiancé and I stayed the night for our anniversary. The room we stayed in was so spacious. The bathroom and closet were amazing. Excellent water pressure! The room also can with complimentary breakfast in the little refrigerator. Great food options and variety. They grounds were lovely and had a little sitting area with igloos and twinkle lights. Definitely recommend staying here. read more

I reserved an igloo for my fiancé and friends birthday a week ago for Jan 21st. I was charged over the phone $95 for the igloo itself. My friend and I were going to split the cost since it was also her boyfriends birthday. Well we had to cancel due to issues coming up with that day. I called to cancel and asked when I would get my refund and was told I wouldn't because it's non refundable. I was never ONCE told it was non refundable. Instead she said "well it's on our website". I didn't book through the website I booked through YOU over the phone, YOU should have told me it was no refundable, what kind of business blind sides someone like that? I'm getting married this year, I don't have $95 to just throw away. Completely unacceptable business practice. You should have made known that the igloos are non refundable if you need to cancel. The wife and I stayed the night and could not have been more impressed. Beautiful property, gorgeous room, and friendly staff. we got a room with the tub, which my wife thoroughly enjoyed and the shower was gigantic. In the morning the chef made a personal breakfast for just the two of us that was delicious. Most importantly the cost was very reasonable. I would recommended this place over any local traditional hotel. read more

I had my October wedding here. While the day before and and after were sunny the actual day was cloudy and rainy. The staff was very helpful in helping me have my dream of an outdoor wedding despite the weather. They even brought the chairs in until right before the ceremony so the guests wouldn't have to sit on wet chairs. We did heavy hor d'oeuvres for our meal and the spread was both delicious and beautiful. Overall, they provided a great venue for a wedding and I would recommend them to anyone. read more

You pay for the experience of dining in a warm igloo under the twinkling lights. but you get so much more! Our girl's group reserved this venue on a Thursday evening in January. We parked in front of the hotel entrance as we made our way in to investigate the former children's home! The interior is beautiful with lots of old world charm. The greeter was warm and friendly answering all our questions about the boutique hotel and bistro. The staff escorted us to the outdoor setting and explained how it all worked! First, came fantastic cocktails! The Peach Therapist was a hit! We ordered several starters, which were all delicious! Try the Brick Oven Bread with three dipping sides. So good! The main course was over-the-top! We tried Pizza, Chicken Piccata Roulade, Pork Tenderloin and some pasta dishes! We all thought the meals were the best we had ever eaten! Desserts were a great finish to a fantastic experience! There are currently 3 igloos with two dining times available! Hurry and book as this closes for the season in late February. read more

If you are a bride that wants perfection you will want to read this review! I had my wedding on Dec 30, 2018: I brought in all of my own decor! If they do it all, I am sure it will be fine, BUT if you are going to do your own decorating it is not the place for you! There were a few things I was kind of disappointed in and I wanted to point those out as I do think it is important for future events. The day before my wedding and the WEDDING DAY was very stressful: 1. I was highly disappointed in the lack of accommodations. I wanted to stay at the Dominion House for two nights. I was told that I couldn't hang my dress on Saturday morning, YET, they allowed some of my bridesmaids to check in that day at 10. 2. There was virtually no communication with the coordinator the DAY of my wedding. I didn't see her until me and my wedding party found our way to where we needed to be. 3. I asked over and over about the music, and the music was my entire ceremony and nothing was correct. I asked him to turn it up several times and he did not. I couldn't even hear the music play as I walked down the isle. I had guests comment on this. DO NOT USE THEIR DJ! M and M Productions they do not listen! 4. The music was to start at 5:30. It started at 5:50 when more than half of the guests were already there. 5. The candles in the chapel did not get lit, and I had people ready to light them and they were told the wedding coordinator would do it. 6. ALL of the candles were replaced WHILE my guests were sitting in the chapel. I was told this by numerous people. 7. The food was less than stellar. It was nothing like my tasting, and have had many people comment on it not being very good. 8. The rehearsal was not organized and I feel like no one knew what was going on. THE DJ should be there, even though he told me he had it under control, the music was the worst part of the ceremony. He was to play music during the unity box, which was talked about at our meeting for a long while and he never did that. I made it perfectly clear I did not want dead time. You could tell something was wrong. 9. When we had our set up meetings there was no piano involved in the room and the photo booth was to go where the piano was. It was stuck back in a small corner and didn't' allow guests to get the full benefit as it was supposed to light up etc. There was WAY TOO MUCH congestion, and I have had NUMEROUS people tell me they just didn't do the photo booth nor the chocolate fountain because of the congestion. I told the coordinator all year I had a lot of ideas etc, it was all downplayed. The reception went well, I enjoyed the dancing and my decorations were fabulous, but I did it all myself. I do not think that the time allotted to decorate is enough, and I even paid the 125 dollars. so you will need more time to decorate. You will also want to pay the steep 600 dollar an hour to make your reception longer, as it is not long enough. I PROMISE! Overall, my night was stunning, everything looked beautiful, I just feel like without me and my wedding party and my family, that it wouldn't have come together that it was supposed to. read more

I attended a wedding here in April 2016. The parking was very close to the building and there was a police officer point everyone to where the ceremony would be held. There were about 75 people at the wedding and the parking seemed perfect, but if there were anymore people, I'm not sure there would have been enough space. The ceremony was held outside in a beautiful garden. This is naturally a gorgeous place so there was no need for superfluous decor. The water & nature sounds were not too loud. They were the perfect white noise. The AV equipment was not too loud or too quiet. The guests were all in the shade during the ceremony and there was no sun in anyone's eyes. The reception was very nice as well. It doesn't need much decoration. There was plenty of room for the tables and chairs. No one was crowded. The negatives: I don't really have a problem with this, but I do think it is something to note. For the most part the staff was super kind and professional. But when the guests were still eating, the staff came out and would help themselves to the food. A few minutes later they closed the doors to the food, and I think it would have been much more appropriate to wait so the guests couldn't see. It wasn't one person, and they had dominion house embroidered on their shirts. Weddings cost a lot of money per head, so this is wrong. If they eat things that were going to be thrown away- that's fine. But several guests & the bride and groom (!!) had not helped themselves yet. Overall, very nice place, but I'm not sure if I would trust them with my wedding. read more

Soooo.... never thought I'd say I have a new favorite in Guthrie or even Edmond metro, but I do. The owners Trey and Julie were incredible hosts and the food, the flavors, the presentation and service were impeccable. Chef David Christopher came by to get our opinions and I told him that if there were no other people in the place, I would literally lick my dish. It was that good! I had the filet, which was literally the best I've had in years and my wife had the Caribbean shrimp that was just so light and "clean "according to her. (It was delicious) And the craft cocktails were simply amazing! I had the blackberry mash and she had the Hibiscus Margarita and they were both just incredibly good!! We will be back probably sooner than we should but it's all just so perfect it's hard to resist. The venue is so charming and comfortable that you just immediately feel right at home. This hotel is really lovely and meticulously maintained, and every employee we encountered was friendly and helpful. Dinner in the igloo was unique and enjoyable. The COVID safe breakfast was fine, with cereal, granola bars, hard boiled eggs, mini sweet bread loaves, fruits and juices. I would have liked some little paper plates, salt for the eggs, and more than 2 coffee pods. Also they did not have any decaf coffee pods. read more

Beautiful igloo experience!! Food was average but the igloo was fun especially while it was snowing. We also booked the hotel, however, it was extremely cold in the rooms. There's a huge heater in the rooms but that's it. Might be a nice place to stay during spring & fall months. Just attended a wedding last night at the Dominion house. I was very impressed! The wedding was outdoors and it was in the summer, so I was worried I would bake in the sun, but by the time of the wedding 7pm, we were in the shade of the beautiful building. The restrooms were nice and there was plenty of parking. Seemed like a good layout for holding weddings. Staff were helpful and professional. read more

We went to Guthrie to visit family and found Dominion House through an online search. This place is a jewel. It's tucked away in an unexpected neighborhood. It's super quiet and the grounds are beautiful. The rooms are spacious and the bathrooms are huge. Everything is wonderful, but the most special asset is the staff. They're all super friendly and genuinely seem happy you're there. It's a very special place. We'll always stay here when we're in Guthrie. read more

We cannot say enough wonderful things about the Dominion House and the staff that runs the weddings. it is a family owned business with very caring and attentive staff. Our wedding planner Julie did an amazing job form start to finish with coordinating all aspects of our wedding & reception. The grounds, wedding venues & reception area are just beautiful and so well tended to providing a beautiful setting rain or shine. We got married on an early July Saturday in the outdoor gardens. Simply beautiful. It was hot so I would say if you are planning a summer wedding choose either a early evening time or a late morning time which worked out great for us. The wedding day went just as planned, our guests enjoyed the gorgeous venue and Julie kept everything just perfect for us. We were given a choice of various vendors that work with Dominion House to work with and the food & cake turned out just great with many compliments.! For those traveling & not familiar with area it was very easy to get to & plenty of parking. Do not make your wedding plans in Oklahoma without going to see this location!
