Used to love these but my God, what are they doing to their chips now? Taste like chemicals and dirt. Many of the chips are completely saturated with oil. Many are burnt or discolored and hard as a rock. There is no consistency at all, except for how terrible these nasty chips are now. Just close shop if this is the best you can do please. When I lived Ohio it was always Ballreich ruffles in our house growing up. So my friend went to Toledo this past weekend so I asked him to bring me back a bag. He brought two. I couldn't wait to get these boy how disappointing these were disgusting Ballreich was known for their greasy taste texture that's what Made them good and different from everyone else. Ballreich is now the absolute worst potato chips out there. A huge waste of money. Never buy these again. You made a huge mistake in changing these. read more

The worlds best potato chips! Hands down the best, they know what they are doing and they have been doing longer then most of us have been around! Small when compared to other companies in the industry but BIG on flavor, history and heart. My family is spread out in 3 homes plus a vacation cottage in Lake Erie. Ballreich is the only chip we eat. Indeed, for a family gathering of 5 adults and two babies, on Memorial Day weekend I bought six one pound bags. In three days we went through five pounds of Ballreich, and an unknown quantity of Tofts French onion dip. Now, when I babysit the toddlers, they have their Ballreich and God forbid I run out. The babies drag the empty bag across the floor and ask for more chips every 10 minutes. They also use them to make soup in a little fort they construct. They take a spoon, bowl, and smash the Ballreich into a "soup" and serve it. It's hilarious. Anyway, five generations of our family eat Ballreich, either dipped in Tofts or by the spoonful in baby soup. Lol.... read more

SO sad to hear that they had to change their oil to reduce the amount of trans fat. We recently purchased a sleeve of small bags, as they are great snacks since I am ALWAYS craving Ballreich's. Unfortunately, I opened the first bag and was not very pleased with these chips. My fiancee made a good point that they taste similar to Ruffles. They do not have the same Ballreich flavor I know and love, and I hate to say but I will not be craving the new chip flavor. read more

I understand the company was bought out in April of this year. My family has been buying Ballreich potato chips for decades. I just threw another bag in the garbage they just don't taste the same and the potatoes chips were hard. Ballreich chips are hands down the best chips in America and if not the world.I can say if I ever left Ohio for good I would grab a Ballreich for the road.I just like their regular chips mixed with tofts ice cream(strange combo but good).You can order them online and can find them in most store in northwest Ohio.If you leave northwest Ohio you will miss Ballreich Bros chips!!! read more

I don't eat chips all to often but when I do it has to be Ballreich's which come from my home town. They are crazy delish - I'm so glad I can buy them, well online at their website, but also through Cost Plus World Market. It's a little bit of home for me here in LA. Ballreich's has been eaten in my family since (at least, but maybe before) I was born. My dad says absolutely nobody compares to Ballreich's and since we can't get them from the store like when I was little, we order them direct. As my dad says, Ballreich's potato chips are the best! He also likes the chocolate covered potato chips. Only downfall is that they still use MSG in some of their flavors unfortunately. read more

These chips used to be really good, but now they are brown and smell like rotten potatoes. At 4.99 a bag, I have to wonder why the company is sending such a poor quality product out. These are supposed to be premium potato chips. Do yourself a favor and buy the store brand instead. The economy is too bad to throw away your money. read more
