In fourty years I have not seen any single company or group cause more difficulties and problems for its customers than republic services. In multiple days of calling to try to get any answers I have been ignored, redirected and my concerns completed disregarded. Their trucks can drive directly to the cans and pick them up avoiding any need for customers to interact with them besides throwing a single bag of trash into the can but now they want us to wheel these cans all over the property causing health and public safety concerns. The city of Lewistown is helpless to have any way to stop this even though city employees/commissioners have said they do not want these new policies the response from republic services was to tell them to basically mind their own business as the contracts are between customers and the company with the city having no ability to set terms. You can try to reach out to Scott Johnson 1-406-366-3665 but he will not answer his phone and purposely leaves the voicemail full to avoid any chance he will have to interact with dissatisfied customers. If your in the city of Lewistown find what ward you live in and contact your city commissioner, there is a meeting Aug 4 2025 at the council on aging to attend, and call your public service commission 1-800-646-6150 make sure to bring up how often your rates increase, how it adversely impacts you and get behind forcing the republic services to engage in a city based contract vs with each customer. They can easily retaliate against individuals leaving us with no recourse and as it goes on it's clear they are engaged in predatory practices charging small towns like us more and more and demanding us to accept fewer services and greater personal risk over time. In towns like Missoula where there is competition their customers pay less and they make up the difference with our price increases. Do not let this monopolistic company abuse us anymore as a group it's time to engage fully with city and state officials to hold this company accountable.
