So when a friend calls you up and asks, "Hey, you want to get some nuts?" you don't ask questions…read more You just get in the car and head straight to Alabama Peanut Co. Walking in, you're hit with the smell of brine and beer in the absolute best way possible. The vibe is simple and homey: check out the menu board, pick your peanuts, grab a beer, and sit back in anticipation. Since I couldn't make up my mind, I went with the sampler plate. The second I bit into the collard green brine peanut, it literally burst with flavor. I'm officially a changed woman and fully convinced boiled peanuts are the ultimate Alabama snack. My only tiny heads-up: the brine tasting station is a awesome idea, but a quick warning sign like "Careful with these bottles!" would be a lifesaver--I definitely managed to splash a bit on myself! Bottom line? The service was wonderful, the peanuts were incredible, and I'll definitely be dragging the rest of my friends back to this unique Birmingham gem.

I also think that this is a great place to just grab some peanuts, a cold beer or drink, and relax. The service is always so pleasant, and it is just a fun and relaxing atmosphere. My last visit, I went with my sister on a Saturday night while we were downtown, and we had such a good time. I will definitely have this as one of my regular casual hangout spots, as I always have the best time when I stop in. Their peanuts are also very tasty, and they have a super wide variety of choices. I love this place.

Stopped by Smiley Brothers for lunch. Nice little restaurant with an old world vibe. Excellent wine…read morechoice, fresh cheese, dry aged ribeyes and fresh cut steaks. We were greeted promptly and took a few minutes to look at the menu. I LOVE roast beef, so it peaked my interest. My wife chose the Smiley burger. We placed our order and grabbed a seat. Place was quiet even though it was probably 75% full for lunch. Roast beef was served hot in toasted sour dough. Cheddar, tomato, lettuce and horseradish topped the generous portion of roast beef. Bread was crisp and the beef was hot and juicy. Horseradish gave a nice tangy flavor. My wife's Smiley burger was hand patted. Juicy and perfectly cooked. Bun was soft inside and nicely toasted in the outside. Bread and butter pickles, onion, tomato and lettuce topped it off. But the star of the show were the fries cooked in beef tallow!! Hot and salty, crispy and a deep flavor. I would come back just for the fries. Although a little bit pricey for lunch, it was excellent! Staff were friendly and attentive! Would highly recommend and will definitely be back! Thanks for an awesome lunch and excellent experience!

This place was packed for lunch. The sandwiches I saw being made looked delicious. The Smiley cheeseburger was $15.95 and to add fries and soda was $6.95 so almost $25 for a burger combo. The burger was good. It tasted like it was cooked in a cast iron skillet and the fries were shoestring fries. That is my least favorite fry but the taste was really good. The staff was nice and was very efficient in how they ran everything. I definitely wanna come back and try a deli sandwich
