This has been our favorite go-to before football games. After today- never again. The restaurant was half full. After watching most of the wait staff sit around checking their cell phones, I had to ask the host who our server was. One guy eventually came over, took our order for 2 salads and a pizza... and we waited. 30 min for our salads, and then another 30 for our pizza. Tables that came in afterwards got their pizzas and left before we got our pizza. No one seems to care. We wont be back. read more

Food was just okay. I did enjoy the caprese salad and cheese bread with red sauce. They don't go shy on the sauce. However, the Greek pizza itself and Caesar salad itself lacked flavor and jazz. Wish the salad had some added flavor other than stale croutons. Dressing was oaky but you can tell it wasn't house made. The Greek pizza had lots of toppings, but it was loaded with cheese which took away from the pizza itself. The olives were a nice touch. But maybe adding feta instead of mozzarella with the red sauce would have been nice. The chicken on the pizza was okay. They had love music. Good place for large groups. read more

I actually want another right now lol, we ordered the street taco pizza and the buffalo chicken pizza, the street taco pizza was sooooo good! Such a cute pizza place! The location is great especially if you're attending an event in Government Plaza as it's right there connected to the parking deck. I don't know if it was because of it being summer time and they were less busy, but this place greatly impressed me on this visit. I have been to Heat a few times before this visit (all during school time) and while it was good, service was always slow and the pizza was, in my opinion, too small for the price you paid for it. It's a great personal sized pizza, but not for $14. This visit though, we were all shocked to see that when they brought out our pizzas, they were almost 1.5 times bigger than in the past. Perfect size to split between two people in fact. The service was also very fast and our waiter was very attentive. I highly recommend the white bbq pizza (which is what I got) and the Thai pizza (which my friend let me try a slice and it is definitely my new favorite). As Long as the pizza stays this size, I will continue to come back to Heat. read more

There is so much to like about this pizzeria. First, the location in a beautiful park. Next, the crispy crust. We were 3 adults and two little kids (6 and 21 mos.) The baby has an allergy to cheese. Molly, our server, suggested making him a fruit and vegetable plate (cucumbers, pineapple and something else), and a pizza without cheese. We had altogether 4 pizzas (the one without cheese and just tomato sauce, pepperoni, one cheese with Kalamata olives, and one cheese), 2 draft beers, and the plate for the baby. The pizzas were excellent. The tab came, with a 22% tip, to $90, which is pretty good. Molly was so sweet and helpful, bringing printer paper and markers for the kids. If I may make a suggestion, for small children, crayons would be even better. I second the folks who said that it's a great place for families. read more

Heat is one of our new faves in Tuscaloosa, mainly because it checks most of the boxes in terms of food quality, service, location, and affordability. FOOD/DRINK: Is it the best pizza that I've every had...no. But it's pretty good...good enough for us to keep coming back. I prefer thin crust pizza, so Heat's pizzas are right up my alley. We love that they have great daily specials pretty much every evening during the week. We especially like to go on the days when we can get individual pepperoni or cheese pizzas for $7.99. They also have daily specials on some drinks and they have happy hour during the week. Besides pepperoni and cheese, I've also had the chicken bacon ranch pizza, bbq chicken pizza, and jalapeno poppers...everything has been delicious. The pizzas are more of a personal size...as in one person can eat a whole pizza, or almost a whole pizza in one sitting. SERVICE: We tend to sit at the bar when we come (the bar is rather long...plenty of seats). So far, everyone who has served us has been polite and professional. The pizza usually comes out pretty quickly too. LOCATION: Heat is located centrally in downtown Tuscaloosa. You can park on the street, but you are likely to have better luck with the free parking garage that is attached to the restaurant. AFFORDABILITY: We prefer to take advantage of the daily pizza specials...$7.99 or $8.99 per pizza, depending on the day. There are also some evenings when you can get a bottle of wine for half off. So pizza date night can easily total less than $30. The pizzas that are not "on sale" are also reasonably priced. read more

Leaving a little disappointed after seeing so many full star reviews. I guess if I was still had college-Sarah's standards it would be okay ... but college Sarah's standards were mostly embarrassing.... Driving through from Texas to NE Alabama with a toddler and a huge pup, and we needed to find somewhere to stop off to stretch our legs and fill our bellies. Yelp said they were dog-friendly and the spacious patio seemed like a good spot for a rambunctious two year old to not bother other diners too much. Got there between lunch and dinner, and we were the only ones there. We were waited on quickly initially, and all the food came out quickly, but the rest of the service was sssllllooowwww. We actually got a fresh and hot app on the table before our drink came out, refills just didn't happen, and it took about 30-40 mins between each check in from the server. Hubby ordered the vodka basil gimlet (I think that's what it was called). Once it came out, it was really good. Super fresh and lime-y. For an app we got the jalapeño poppers. Not bad, But I prefer a creamy stuffing not just cheese. So even though they were exactly as advertised, they were just okay (personal preference, nothing against them). I also ordered a spinach side salad. It said it came with "sweet onions". My head interpreted this to mean some kind of caramelized onion. But nope, just raw onions. A TON of raw onion. I love caramelized onion, hate raw onion.. sooo I spent five minutes picking off the onion and tried to eat the salad, but realized it was at least 40% wilted. My first bite was slimy, I just didn't notice before putting it in my mouth because of the dressing. I tried to pick out the bad pieces, there were just too many. So the salad ended up being dissected and unconsumed. I made the same onion mistake with the pizza too... the description was sausage and sweet onions, so again I thought I'd be getting caramelized onion. And again I was wrong. (Ordered at the same time I ordered the salad, so no time to learn my lesson). Unfortunately some on the onion was on top of the cheese, but just as much was hidden like land mines under the cheese. Once I got them all off, the pizza wasn't terrible. The crust was good and the sausage was alright. But the sauce was nonexistent. Got some extra marinara on the side. I was expecting it to be served fresh and warm, but it was pre packaged and cold. Other than that, the flavor was okay though. And it gave what I needed for the pizza. Hubby ordered the buffalo chicken pizza. He also had a ton of land mine onions, but he likes onions so even though he agreed it was too much it didn't really bother him. The non existent sauce did bother him though. Didn't seem like there was any buffalo sauce on it at all. Once he ordered extra he was happy enough with it. So. The food overall was a 3. at best (does ANYONE like onions that much?!). But the service brought it down, especially considering we were the only ones there for the majority of the time we were there. read more

One bite, everyone knows the rules. I called into Heat for a late lunch about 2:30 and ordered the perfect pepperoni. They said it would be ready in 10 minutes. The pizza was perfect for me and had a great flavor. The crust was nice and thin and had a great crisp to it. They put the pepperoni under the cheese for the baking. In Tuscaloosa for The University of Alabama graduation and needed a place that was open late since the grad was so late Saturday evening...Yelp to the rescue! Heat was open until 10pm and we called and they said they didn't have a wait...hopped in an Uber and off to Heat Pizza Bar! The place is centrally located near UA, and they had lots of free parking. We were seated immediately and got our menus. Lots of options, but we decided to go with one pizza per person. I know..sound like a lot, but you will thank me on this! We ordered a White BBQ, a Meat Lovers Pizza and a Buffalo Chicken Pizza. The pizzas came out really quick and looked & smelled so great. The Meat Lovers Pizza has House Red Sauce, Pepperoni, Italian Sausage, Bacon, Ham, Mozzarella and was awesome. The White BBQ has their signature White BBQ Sauce Base, Chicken, red onions and pickles (trust me they may sound odd, but are HEAVEN!). The Buffalo Chicken Pizza had Buffalo Sauce Base, Chicken, Mango, Red Onion, Cheddar, Mozzarella. We asked for a side of Blue Cheese dressing and I think that put it over the top! Everything was really good. The reason for only 3-stars was that at 9pm (1 hour prior to closing) the employees stopped working and started to close the place up. Let me explain. They all started sweeping the floors right next to our table, flipping chairs upside down, and mopping. There were 3 tables still eating and ordering, but they didn't seem to care as service became non-existent and we were definitely made to feel it was time to leave. This a larger restaurant with a good sized bar. We decided to eat at the bar because it was first come, first serve and no wait. The bartender was busting her ass and doing a great job and was also polite. The salad with strawberries and pecans did not have too much dressing. It was a little light on dressing which is what i prefer. It was big enough to share 3 ways. We got 2 pizzas. Thin crust, not overly saucy and lots of cheese. Plenty of leftovers. I have 2 complaints. The pizzas took about an hour, which was a long time. Also, there is only 1 stall bathrooms for men and women. Too small for a bar thia size. read more

We were on a x-country drive and making some college visits along the way so when we pulled into Tuscaloosa, making a pit stop at HEAT on the U Alabama campus seemed like the right move. First off, this place is about as COLLEGE as a pizza place can get. From the wide open spaces to the long bar to the attractive hostesses and servers and the outdoor patio, everything about it screams WELCOME TO THE PARTY! Our waiter was terrific and made his best Bama pitch to my son over the course of the night. The pizza was good. Not spectacular but definitely good.
