I got my usual king prawn salted chilli with boiled rice and my wife opted for chicken sweet & sour. The prawn dish was excellent. It was a decent portion and it was well flavour balanced between spice & salt. It did not have the acrid burn from those places on Monaghan Street who use dried chilli from jars and unlike these places there was actual fresh red chilli in the dish. It's hard to believe that many Chinese takeaways in town don't add fresh chilli to spicy dishes but have the cheek to charge top prices. The boiled rice too was perfectly cooked. I did not really like their sweet and sour sauce though as it was like a light vinegary gel really so it needs work. I only noticed as I was leaving that they offered dishes line salt & chilli pork chop available in another Chinese Restaurant just down the street so they must have common ownership.

It's a real pity as the city needs a fine Chinese restaurant. The starters were sort of goodish but instead of an intensely flavoured peanut sauce, with the satay chicken starter, it was more a spiced peanut oil from a jar. I had the salted chilli ribs and these were probably the best of the dishes we had. Our mains once again had no finesse. I had the Kung Po chicken and it was very poor. I really didn't want to eat it as it even looked grim and tasted grim too. Kung Po which is claimed to be Chairman Mao's favourite dish, is meant to be a velvety sauce, barely no liquid, with the intensely flavoured sauce coating the chicken; instead it was watery, with little discernible taste. I've had fantastic Kung Po dishes but I can't count this place as what I got was no more Kung Po than I am an astronaut. It bordered on unpleasant. It's easier to say what wasn't in the dish that should have been: so it had no Sichuan pepper, no Chinese wine nor black vinegar, no dark soy, no hoisin, in other words absolutely nothing of big flavour that makes it anything close to Kung Po - the menu should read boiled chicken in lukewarm, slightly sweet water. My wife had the sweet and sour chicken dish - this was a fair take away dish but again no refinement-the sauce was cloying, it's consistency was nearer that of a soft set jam and unbalanced; more vinegar than sugar. The fried rice too was poor takeaway quality, doused in cheap chemically made soy sauce. They offered a two and three course menu with cake being the dessert. No thanks folks. Finally the set menu has no prawn main offered - not even at an up-charge. I wish them well I really do but it's not for me. I think they'll have to up their game as a restaurant. If I want poor quality takeaway Chinese food I'm spoiled for choice in this city but it's half the price to take home rather than sitting in here. Finally when I saw the name Humming I thought Bird would be the next part but it's Humming. I wonder if they know that we North Irish use this word to describe something that stinks or is rotten - who am I to argue.

I got a vegetarian red curry here and a portion of Thai crackers. The curry portion was generous and the vegetables, including red pepper, peas and carrots were fresh and tasty. I particularly enjoy the tofu and potato. The Thai crackers (£1.5) are far better than Chinese crackers too even though Chinese takeaway tend to provide free crackers with main meal orders. I've also enjoyed hot spicy curries for years, and maybe it's an age thing, but I find their vegetarian curry to be very hot, maybe it's just me and an age thing but I now add a teaspoon of sugar to their curry to help balance the spice - it works up to a point. They have a notice up advising no variation to dishes - perhaps this is to keep their food authentic or maybe to prevent cheaper ingredients being substituted for more expensive ones. The coconut rice too (£2.5) is really flavoursome. In an earlier review of this place I'd noted that the additional food cost of this takeaway tested against main dishes from local Chinese takeaways might harm business. The fact is that while this remains the case, Chinese takeaway prices have since increased, but poor quality, poor tasting Chinese food is still endemic here and the quality and fresh taste of this Thai food is very far ahead by any measure and worth the extra cost and I'll stick with them.

The place is advertised as thai street food and it is geared towards being a takeaway, it has some seats inside but the food is still served in takeaway style containers, this is not a bad thing though, we both ordered a starter and mains but the portions were so large i skipped the started and just had the main and took the started home withe me. I had the coconut and chicken soup starter and the thai green curry, both were very good and we will definitely be back. My wish would be that they open a restaurant, its a bit of a journey for us and it would be nice to sit in a more relaxed environment. My only negative point is that the female at the counter did not know the menu and could not give advice, the male was much more friendly though.

In fact, Chinese food offerings here have gone to the dogs and is now mostly overpriced watery, and cheap rubbish with chemically brewed 'soy' sauce yet for similar prices to here. There's not a Chinese around here that I could recommend and most only want cash. I have no hesitation recommending this Thai. I opted for a red curry and I chose the tofu which included a boiled rice in the price. The curry sauce is fabulously flavourful. One starter, two mains with a boiled rice £24. Superb food. The young lady who took my order was very courteous as Thai folk are known for. I had intended to try this Thai place for some time but the opportunity never arose. This new Indian place in the city had sparked my curiosity as it's the first sit in Indian (they aren't Indians either Bangladeshi or Pakistani) to open in very many years but I be been conned before with the awful GM takeaway just around the corner from here. We got a quarter duck with 6 pancakes, hoi sin sauce, scallions and cucumber, salted chilli, boneless pork chops, chicken satay with a lot of chicken (too much cooking oil) and boiled rice. All in all just under £25. It's been a long time since we bought a Chinese in town and likely will be a long time before we go again. The food was actually quite good, decent portions too, for our town, staff were real friendly but take-out is cash only and it's a nuisance really. Sit-in is payable by credit card. Game of Trump continues apace. Episode 74 was a special. Ya know 108 billion people have lived on this planet and we end up sharing space with this capricious finagler. The dude sure can lie sincerely. If one accepts at face value the chart he brandished during his speech - the one on a bit of cardboard claiming the EU imposes a 39% tariff on US exports - then perhaps there is some element of generosity at play. While that bloc does impose steep tariffs - exceeding 30% - on certain agricultural products like dairy, the weighted average tariff on American goods hovers around just 3%. This makes Mr Trump's 20% tariff neither kind, nor reciprocal, just untruthful. If you were to read the small print on the chart, you'd spot that their calculations mysteriously incorporate "Currency Manipulation and Trade Barriers". Tellingly, the administration hasn't released their methodology other than to confirm suspicions they used a formula that divides a country's trade deficit by their exports. That blunt ratio really isn't an appropriate way of calculating tariffs. The formula essentially allows them to fold in virtually anything they dislike about a trading partner from VAT, to regulatory differences, to alleged exchange rate manipulation. These are what Mr Trump has been referring to as "non-tariff barriers". I doubt these tariffs can achieve his goals without severely damaging the very economy they're meant to protect but worry ye not the USA's billionaires, millionaires and politicians have protected themselves very well indeed. No doubt we'll see a few more Trumpugees arriving here to escape the eejit. He's doing as much damage to businesses with the uncertainty he maintains. I've no doubt he's angling to do away with free and fair elections too and by that time E Musk may be too toxic to run a whelk stall.

We got a mix of food…read moreincluding a few salt & chilli chicken, chicken curries, three chicken fried rices, curry sauces, noodles, fried and boiled rice and boneless salt & chilli pork spare ribs. The prices are all high end at just over £7 for a main chicken dish if fried rice is chosen, and the food will need to stay very good as Chinese takeaway meal prices have risen unjustifiably in the last few years. The portions were generous and all the food was very tasty indeed. We spent just over £50 and got a portion of prawn crackers free with the order. As we waited for our food to be cooked in the open kitchen in front of us we thought just how very difficult it must be to find yourself newly opened in this trade with so many businesses all around you closing and instant mass unemployment through the fear of a killer virus that is sweeping the planet. It's only March 2020 and all schools here are now closed to September. We are in a crisis with mass unemployment, the prospect of the nationalisation of swathes of industry and a right wing set of political nutcases who have systematically starved our health service of resources and it will not as it cannot cope with what it's about to face. We were the only customers there. The phone didn't ring once for take out orders either. I hope they survive. I hope we survive and I hope that sense will start to prevail post this grave crisis and our people will stop voting for right wing nutcases as they'll be the death of us all.
