Autumn is wonderful. A true healer. I went on a recommendation for a painful and restrictive frozen shoulder. She has helped so much with my discomfort and mobility. During my massage, she asked me about the pain levels. It was very helpful to work with her on my issue. I feel amazing after my deep tissue massage and it is still working to help with movement. This is a must destination when coming to the Mendocino area. Conveniently located on Route 1 across from the Botanical Gardens, this is an oasis from the hectic pace of society. I had the 75 minute massage, and I felt like a million dollars when I left. Money well spent. Autumn is friendly, professional, and skillful. The ambiance is soothing and relaxing. My partner and I stayed in Fort Bragg this week and last minute decided to get a couple's massage. We were paired with Autumn and a gentleman who's name I have forgotten (forgive me!). They did an excellent job! We upgraded to "deep tissue" and it was so worth it. They were extremely attentive to all parts of the body and we left feeling very pampered. There's nothing like a good bake and soak to make the mind stop whirring. Book one of the sauna/tub/shower combo rooms at Bamboo Garden, and check out for a bit. At two hundred degrees, it's hard to focus on anything. The facilities are solid: new Finlandia saunas, deep jacuzzis, strong pressure, all polished. Replace the tub with a cask version and stick on a rainfall showerhead, and you might never get me out. Even the products smell almondy and natural. Aesthetically, the art looks like it was sourced from the Asian section of TJ Maxx. But with the sweet staff and "green" ethos, it's forgivable. They also offer an array of different types of massage for singles and doubles. Next time, I'm in for a deep tissue with hot stone or a Thai massage. Watch me melt like buttah. read more

Bamboo Garden Spa's small shop is located right on Main Street inside an historic building housing several shops and restaurants. They feature a great array of organic and unique bath & body products so that you can indulge in your own at-home spa treatments. Candles, scarves and aromatherapy items round out their selection. I purchased a great smelling organic vanilla lotion at a decent price. Next time in the area, I may give them a try for a spa service. It would make for a wonderful post-hike indulgence! read more

I've been here twice so far and I have thoroughly enjoyed myself each time. The 90 minute massages are pure HEAVEN. The bathes are nice, but I got very bored sitting in a room by myself for so long, so the second time I made a reservation for a bath and massage I remembered to bring a book and it made my time much more enjoyable. My massage therapist even taught me some yoga positions to help with some of my problem painful spots. I can't wait till I go back in August!! read more

I think all the other reviews sum it up: great posh-spa quality massage which you may not expect for the location in downtown Fort Bragg. The prices match it too: $100 for 50 minutes deep tissue ($85 for swedish). It's in a rustic building with several businesses that share the space, including the Living Lights vegan raw cafe and international school, so there's a nice vibe in there. There's a retail shop where you check in, and then you take a little ticket to the spa itself in the back of the building. It's like any other zen-like spa from there, and really nice music - when I was there it was native american drumming and wood flute. Another bonus is a shower in the massage rooms if you want to rinse off before or afterwards. read more

We were there in Oct 07, and had a very pleasant experience. Good couples massage; we got the package that allowed us to use one of their jacuzzi suites, and really enjoyed it. One knock: when I was making our reservation, I asked if we would be able to shower after our massages (oil + right into clothing and straight to dinner = ugh), and was told, "No." Based on this, we had the massages first, and used the suite second. This was nice, but I would have preferred to go in the other order...and it turned out that our massage room had a shower in it, and the therapists (who did not make our reservation) said it would not have been a problem to use it after the massage. Small ding, but still a ding. If we are in the area again, we'll definitely go back, and we'll be a little more explicit when we make our reservations. One other note: I am not a massage pro, but I have _never_ seen such a detailed waiver form prior to a treatment before. Also, the various signs asking people not to walk around naked made us laugh. What was going on at this place that made them put up those signs? read more

Attention all mommies to be!!!! Go here. Ask for the pregnancy massage and Jess! He was awesome! They have a proper pregnancy table (so you can lay on your belly!). I get monthly massages, but all have been lying on my side. While that's nice, it doesn't nearly relax me as much as Jess did when I was on the pregnancy table! His pressure was perfect! He didn't treat me like I was made of porcelain; he really worked out my kinks! Seriously, I wish I lived close by. It was THAT good! I also got the hair treatment. It was perfect to cap off my massage. My only regret was that I didn't book the massage for longer! My girlfriends (we were on a spa day) all loved their treatments, so THANK YOU fellow Yelpers, this place was a total score! I will be back on my next Mendo getaway! read more

This place ROCKS! Some spas can be pretentious, but this place was not. It was clean, quiet and lovely. I opted for the Bamboo Bistro Package which was a GREAT deal (Private Tranquility Suite, Swedish Massage and a voucher for $25 at the Mendo Bistro.) My massage therapist, Jess was perfect. My body responded well to his technique. I've had many massages, but he is by far one of the BEST! I can NOT wait to book another appointment and head back over to the coast. read more

I called this morning and was able to book an appointment today with Syd/Sid (female). All I can say is "Wow". I have had hundreds of massages in my life- gone every two weeks for years and years, and she had the magic touch. I had a medium-pressure Swedish massage and almost fell asleep during the session (which is extremely rare for me). I HIGHLY recommend her, and as far as the table and accommodations were concerned, the place was very relaxing and welcoming. A full FIVE stars. read more

We have different massage preferences, which were clearly communicated prior to arrival, allowing us each to have the appropriate masseuse. This was an AMAZING experience. Jess, the owner/therapist gave me the BEST massage I have had in years. That totals approximately 15 massages in 5 years. If you like deep tissue, he is your man. I have been to spas all over the world. While Bamboo Garden isn't the poshest, they provided a nice atmosphere and the best couples' massage I've ever had. Both masseuses were very skilled at deep tissue and the stereo in the room, heated massage table pads and the nice couples' shower afterward really made the experience special. I had a volcanic bath (so far) and LOVED IT!!! Bamboo Garden Spa is a tranquil treasure. My husband and I have been going here for years and enjoying the Tranquility Suites (huge tub with jets + sauna + shower + hot tea/ice water for 50 minutes for $60 for 2 people). Yesterday, however, I noticed an August special on their website, which was the 50/50 for $155; a facial and a massage back-to-back. I couldn't resist, so I booked one (amazingly, they were able to get me in on a same-day appointment). Leslee gave me a wonderful facial in a spacious and very comfortable treatment room (I've been in a few places that felt like a sterile white closet, but the treatment rooms at Bamboo Garden Spa are nicely decorated, clean, and as well laid-out as the more public spaces). Cyn gave a great massage that incorporated some stretches to really work the problem area I mentioned before we began. I left there very happy, face glowing and body relaxed. I've had my share of both over the years, including a few in very upscale spas/salons, and I can honestly say that Bamboo Garden Spa is now in my top 3 "best ever" for both facial and massage. read more

We booked the Nirvana package - four hours of delicious, relaxing, soothing, spa treatments that were the best we've ever experienced. Beginning with a long soak in the private bath with the "volcanic" additive, plus some sauna time in our private room, the sessions transitioned effortlessly from soaking, a shower, to the salt scrub, another shower, to the seaweed mask and wrap, hot oil hair massage, soothing foot massage, another shower, then an hour and half long deep tissue massage. A snack brought to us in-between the seaweed mask and the massage was a nice respite and a little something something before the long expert massage. We could not have asked for more, and came away feeling that the experience was absolutely worth the price and was an extremely good value for the top-notch professional services, tranquil gorgeous rooms and settings, squeaky clean facilities, and private surroundings. If there were more than five stars I would rate them even higher! I highly recommend this experience for a couple or two people looking to be totally taken care of for a long luxurious afternoon. This is like a two week vacation delivered in four hours, that's how relaxed and comfortable we felt! read more
