I am really sorry to write this review. Normally, Banfield has been compassionate and responsive. However, I encourage Banfield to respond to this. People love their animals. A person like me (age 73. alone) with a $10,000 service dog, do not have anyone else. I have no family. NONE. Only this Labrador. I care about her. (Ruby Jean, 8 years old) She had an ear infection. I know she was hurting. My Vet, who I am sure spent 4 years at school, probably in debt from tuition, spent 2 minutes looking at Ruby. She then spent 15 more minutes consulting with an assistant on the computer, trying to sort out the price range on what Banfield could charge me. I'm serious. She gladly pointed out that Banfield could offer me a 6 month plan, (without interest) for additional (whatever?) She said I (Ruby) could have blood tests done for $430.00. I asked her if Ruby needed blood work. She happily said, "No, she doesn't need blood work but if I wanted to, Banfield could offer me a pay-out plan. I am a career Paramedic/firefighter/ R.N. I "ain't" stupid. Does she need blood work? I asked. "Not really, but if you want to." What the hell?????????????/ I suggest people reach out to your rural vets who treat cows and horses. This was UNACCEPTABLE. money,money,money. I am tired of corporate robbery. Think about it. My final bill was $110. THEN....a Rx prescription for $80.00. I checked online and found the prescription for $10. Do you really trust Banfield? read more

Terrible experience. Drove 2 1/2 hours, dropped our dogs off at 9:15 for their comprehensive exam. We finally checked with the desk at 1 since they do not answer their phones when you call the number, and was told they wouldn't be ready until 3, that the doctor hadn't even seen them yet. They were left in cages for hours not being seen, and when we picked them up they were extremely thirsty and had to pee as if they were not given water or checked on while left in the cage until seen. We most definitely will be canceling our wellness plans and not returning. Worst experience ever. Do not recommend. read more

They are true professionals, but with warmth and caring for all creatures brought to them for attention. I was kept in the loop on my pet's care and course of action and felt that they had his best interests, and not just monetary motives, in their proposed care plan. The staff's overall level of caring and concern for his comfort and well being were extraordinary. We took our elderly golden, Ozzie in when we discovered him in bad shape once we returned from Spring break. We decided it was best to have him euthanized, which was heartbreaking. Buffy and I had an excellent experience at Banfield of Springfield. We were in town for a week long visit, and Buffy needed to get a Certificate of Health for her flight home. We had no problem making an appointment, even though it was the busy week of Christmas. There were four pets at Banfield when we were there, but they were so organized that we never saw any of them. The receptionist and vet were very friendly and professional. Buffy had an excellent experience and would highly recommend this Banfield location. I have been taking my dog to Banfield since he was a puppy (7 years ago!). I like going there because you can get everything you need all in one place. They also have an excellent pet insurance that I recommend for pets with health issues. They have recently renovated, and the space is nice and clean. Both vets are really friendly and seem genuinely concerned with my dog's health. I just had a long talk about dog food with them, and they gave me several great recommendations since my dog needs to loose weight. Nice people, informed vets, and a bright clean space makes for the perfect vet for my dog! read more

We have been with Banfield for approximately 18 years. We moved here 2 years ago from California and continued with this banfield here. Approximately 3 weeks ago our dog had what we believed was a stroke . After a couple of days he was doing much better except his left eye was bulging. We took him in and he saw Dr Barbra. She called me and said they were not sure what it was but would like to see him in a week. We ask about medication and called a prescription for pain. My daughter-in-law and I were talking to the doctor and said he didn't seem to be in pain as he was acting normal ie barking wanting his treat etc. A week later Banfield made an automatic appointment for his annual dental. When we took him in DrWhitaker called my wife and preceded to give a ration of shit for not doing what they told us to do. I explained what the other doctor told me and was very rude to me and my wife and ended up hanging up on me when I ask to talk to the other doctor. I admit we both were pretty hot at the time. They claimed that they told me it could be glaucoma and gave other instructions but my daughter-in-law was on the phone call and she did hear any of what they were claiming they said. I have closed my wellness plan on all my animals and will be making a formal complaint about the two Doctors for mentioned. read more

I had a great experience bringing my kitten Aspen here. She was nervous and Dr. Bradley and staff were so gentle with her. It made the vet visit a good experience for her and we saved $ signing up on the plan. I definitely am recommending friends to come see her! Wanted to update on our little guy. It took two surgeries because one stone was stuck in his urethra. It was so terrifying waiting and waiting but our Watson is home and feeling sassy enough to start inspecting his stiches (no worries, he is in an E collar) and gets excited to go outside. But the vet and staff were AMAZING. They kept us up to date on his progress, answered all of our questions and helped us find a food that will help us prevent future issues. I've seen a lot of animal lovers but this was over the top amazing care. We were in a difficult and emergency situation and they helped us and our little dog get through it. It meant so much to know that the doctors and staff were on our side and wanted to do anything they could to help. Thank you so much Banfield. You are for real the heros of our little family. I took my dog to Banfield when he got sick and they took his blood and returned saying they could find nothing wrong. They tried to get me to buy insurance, tired to sell me other products, and sent us away. My boy got worse and I took him to Angel Animal Hospital which showed with a blood test that his kidneys were failing. This was something any blood test would have revealed if the Banfield people had actually looked at the results for my dog. Had I not gone to Angel Animal Hospital, my sweet boy would have died! I will never take a pet to them again. Its all big business and zero caring. read more

I've been using Banfield for a year now and up until now I had great experiences with them. There staff is always friendly and helpful. However, they are extremely over priced!!! I didn't realize it until this past weekend when I brought my 1 year old dog in because she broke her nail and needed to have the broken piece removed. Even with having the optimal wellness plan and saving $80.73 I still was charged $338.15. After consulting with the vet about my payment options and explaining that I am a college student and don't have that kind of money, she told me this was my only option if I didn't want my dog to be in extreme pain when she walked and that I could apply for care credit. So after opening up a new credit card and charging this, I started telling people about how shocked I was at the price. Everyone told me I was crazy for paying that amount. So I then went to several different veterenary hospitals in the area and showed them my invoice from Banfield, and every single one told me I was entirely over charged. They all said that there was no reason to put a dog in intensive care, and highly unlikely that she even needed to be sedated. The average price these other vets quoted me at was between $63 and $100. In fact, every vet I asked quoted me at less than $100. These prices also included the cost of the exam which I wasn't charged for at Banfield because I have the optimial wellness plan. (Although it saved me $39.95 at the time, 3 days later I'm charged $37.20 for the wellness plan) Where Banfield charged me $52 to remove the fractured nail, the other vets wouldn't have charged me as it would be included in the exam price. Also, Banfield charged me $28 to bandage the foot and the bandage was falling off by the time I got home at no fault of my dog considering she had been under sedation and slept the entire way home. I'm frustrated that there was a much easier, cheaper, and much less stressful way on my dog to go about this than the service I received from Banfield. The staff has always been friendly to me and to my dog, but the quality of service, the price, and the burden placed on a young girl who expressed her financial troubles from the beginning is not the kind of service I will be using any longer. read more
