I wanted to express my sincere appreciation for Dr. Jane Flathers and Angel Animal Hospital. I have used other veterinarians in Springfield but Dr. Flathers stands out as the best. I had two dogs before this dog whom I took to other veterinarians. The contrast between previous veterinarians and Dr. Flathers was pronounced. The last veterinarian did not appear to be as thorough in her examinations, her equipment malfunctioned on our last two visits and she seemed to be unable to confidently diagnose my dog's health issue. Every time I have seen Dr. Flathers I have been very impressed with her knowledge and diagnosis of my pet's problems. I would highly recommend Dr. Flathers and Angel Animal Hospital. We were in the area due to a family medical emergency, and while visiting our dog became ill. We were stressed about our regular vet being too fat away, but decided to trust the reviews. We do not regret our decision! The veterinarian (Dr. Flathers) was excellent with our dog. He's an older guy now and rather anxious. Dr. Flathers and the tech were really great, and accommodated him fully. We were provided clear information on treatment and costs. We were surprised by how fast service was (same-day appointment and same-day test results!), and found the pricing to be very reasonable. It's been a few days and our puppo is feeling much better and is nearly recovered. Whew! Excellent service. We are new to the area and Chase (mini Australian Shepherd) was stressed over temporary housing and traditional insect repellent and heart worm. (Not a problem in Central Oregon). His skin was red with outbreaks of rash spots and he was 5# overweight. With a limp. Dr Nie provided excellent care with 1:1 intense screening and care provided including x1rays and multiple more natural or at least non oharmaceutical treatments and a skeletal adjustment/alignment. Resulting in a lessened limp. Within a week his rash was gone and within a month the change of diet, which he loves and eats more, decreased his weight back to normal. Additional educational and follow up detailed written protocols for general local care and Chase specific recommendations were provided We are Looking forward to our next visit. read more

I guess I'm going to be the one weird person who decided to write a review about a vet that is receiving otherwise stellar reviews. I have a 12-year-old Maltese, Lexi, and I decided to take her here because of the stellar reviews, and because they advertise that they offer unconventional and holistic therapies. Between the stellar reviews and the "unconventional" therapies, I committed to the 12-month Petly Plan contract. I really wish I hadn't. After the first visit, it was all about the money, honey. And no, I don't "cheap out" on Lexi's care. I've eaten Ramen for a few months to save up the money to get her the care she needs, she gets the good quality food, medicines, and supplements she needs. I'm not going to blame the vet clinic for Lexi's allergies or the fact that she had a few bad teeth because it's not the clinic's fault. I think that recommending Apoquel at $30/month when someone is on a fixed income isn't a sustainable option, and lacks a certain amount of emotional intelligence. Apoquel seems a bit conventional to me, so I was surprised that this was the go-to option. What happened to "unconventional?" 12/14/2020: The owner pointed out on social media that holistic treatment is often more expensive than conventional treatment. To be clear, I was considering holistic treatments because I was desperate to find something to relieve Lexi's skin allergies. It got to the point where every time I took Lexi to see the vet, I was shelling out at least $45, even though I was on the Petly Plan and it was supposed to reduce the cost of the office visits to $10. Plus, there were a few times when she was seen multiple times in a month. However, that didn't deter me from continuing to take her to this clinic. The straw that broke the camel's back for me was when Lexi needed dental surgery to remove three teeth. UPDATE 12/14/2020: Per the owner's comments on social media, I checked Lexi's paperwork and realized that I had taken her over there only 4 times. I did receive a 10-percent discount for the services rendered by the practice; however, I was still shelling out at least $45 when she did see the vet. Pre-surgery, Lexi had six teeth remaining, she's had issues with her teeth from the time she was rescued from the puppy mill. I asked that the other three teeth be removed to prevent issues with them later on and exacerbating a minor heart condition that doesn't require medication. Instead of consulting with me before the surgery, or having a vet tech run out and call me during the surgery, she unilaterally decided to not honor my request. If I had been consulted, I would have discussed my concerns with Lexi's past dental issues and how those could play a part in her future heart health. Not consulting me was unacceptable, and charging me over fifty-percent of what I'd paid to have 13 of her teeth removed through another vet is was disgraceful. 12/14/2020: Per the owner's comments on social media regarding Lexi's teeth, I have a couple of dogs living in the same public housing apartment complex as I do. They are around Lexi's age, had a history of bad teeth, currently have bad teeth, and this contributed to the heart issues they currently have. Given their heart conditions, they have been advised by their vets that there is a high risk of death associated with any surgery, and surgery is not recommended in those cases. It wasn't a matter of cost, it was a matter of taking steps to ensure that she wouldn't face the same issues. I disagree with the practitioner's stance and I feel like my concerns were not adequately addressed. I decided against continuing to take Lexi to this clinic and asked the clinic not to renew my Petly Plan annual contract in September. It is now December and I just received a bill stating that I have to pay $25.00 for "canceling" the plan, plus $4.50 for the bill they sent me. I fulfilled my contract for the year but opted not to renew; which is a far cry from canceling. When I called and asked about it, I was told that they'd called me and discussed it. I find that interesting as I never received one bit of communication from them once they received my letter asking them to not renew the Petly Plan. I'm over it, I'll pay the money when I actually have it next month. 12/14/2020: They have been paid the $29.50 cancelation fee. The letter the owner refers to in his response on social media stated that I would stop by and pay the cancelation fee. My letter actually stated that I would stop by to pay for Lexi's medical records. Since I have her shot records and knew her medical history, I was advised to save my money so I didn't bother to acquire her medical records from this practice. My advice is to find another vet. There are several places here in Springfield that offer quality care for your pet at affordable prices. I have to preface this by saying that our dogs (all three rescue animals) are the center of our life. They are our kids and get treated as such. We take their care and upkeep as serious as anyone would with a child. With that said you can understand that making a great choice in vets is a top priority for us. We have the best in Angel Animal Hospital. Dr Flathers and her staff are amazing! Dr Flathers is one of the most caring, loving and thorough vets we have ever allowed to take care of our fur kids. She is great with our animals and the attention they get is top notch. This attention carries over to the vet techs and the front office staff as well who are always pleasant and quick to give a good belly rub. We have never had a vet office that calls after every visit to see how new medications are working or to make sure that other treatments are going properly. They also have monthly pre-payment/service plans that help save a little on care costs and help to budget for the basic exams and immunizations that are needed. I appreciate it when they give me a call to remind me that I have plan covered expenses that I need to utilize every plan year so I get the most out of the plan and the included free nail trims are a wonderful bonus. In the past we have had a situation where more advanced care was called for. Dr. Flathers picked up on this immediately and knows the best specialists in town for referrals. We love Dr. Flathers who goes over and above us and our fur kids and I highly recommend her office to everyone in need of a vet. read more

Dr. Nie and Courtney have been wonderful to work with and trust in care for our Shih Tzu who has been experiencing herniated disc/back issues since Nov. 2018. Through our interactions the whole staff is very caring and kind. I'm so thankful we discovered this clinic and the holistic services they provide. Dr. Nie is very knowledgeable and knows what is best for your pet to get them feeling better and living a happy life. He answers any questions you may have and explains everything is great detail. Dr Jane has been amazing with my little guy! He was a rescue, born at animal control, and as most puppies go - he has had an interesting 1st year. She is always calm and sweet with Carlos and he loves going to see her. She and her staff are amazingly thurogh and always super helpful! They have a pet portal you can access online which keeps track of his wellness visits, vaccinations and monthly Trifexus. They send out reminders via email and also give you a quick reminder call before appointments. Thankfully I have only had to bring Carlos in once (so far) for an emergency! The staff was wonderful in keeping me calm and also making sure he was well cared for. We were out in the yard and he went chasing after a squirrel - somehow he ended up snagging a toe and nearly ripped out his entire toenail. I, of course, was in a state of panic because there was SO MUCH BLOOD. I rinsed his foot off and applied pressure, to no avail - at that point I thought my puppy was going to lose a toe. They got him bandaged up (which he took full advantage of) and out of pain immediately! They are wonderful and I'm grateful for Dr Jane and her staff offering such good care for my baby boy! read more

Dr. Flathers is UH-MAZING. So are all of the Vet Techs and reception! All of the staff and Dr. Flathers know our animals by name and truly care about how they are doing. If we ever have a question, I feel comfortable enough to call and ask at anytime. It's rare to find a Vet that accepts same-day appointments or walk-ins. At one point, my German Shepherd had some concerning symptoms and behavior, I called their office directly and even though Dr. Flathers wasn't there on sight to answer my questions (she was busy elsewhere)....the staff had her email me directly and we discussed what to do for my dog that way. She has treated all of my pets now for 3 years and I don't ever want another Vet or Veterinary Team for my fur babies. PS: I REALLY appreciate the fact that they accept Care Credit. We took our 12 year old lab in because of a swollen eye. We are traveling from Washington state. Dr. Flathers was wonderful, kind and gentle. They gave us an idea of the cost of the proposed treatment plan. They were so gentle and kind. They also provided us with an after care report to take with us. My little Shih Tzu became sick and I took him to Banfield as always. They took blood, barely looked him over and send us away. When he didn't improve, I found Angel Animal Hospital. Dr. Flathers took blood as well, but brought the actual results to me, and explained his outlook in a very caring manner. He was a very sick little boy, but the Vet and her staff were always quick to get us in for visits, respond to calls, and went above and beyond what I could have ever hoped for! She even helped to train me in ways to care for him in his sickly state, while giving encouragement. This clinic did for my dog ( back injury)what 3 clinics in three states could not. After almost going to have an MRI and bracing for the worst, Dr Flathers evaluated, gave X-rays, temporary relief pain medication and referred him to Dr Nie for the next morning. Dr Nie performed a chiropractive alignment of this body and I watched my desperate little dog transform before my very eyes. He left that office looking like the dog he was before. My skeptical husband was shocked when he saw him. I was given easy to understand follow up directions and he is doing great!
