What an unexpectedly excellent choice it was... It's not the biggest of restaurants, probably seating 40 people at full capacity and it was fairly busy with couples and groups when we rocked up with no reservation. For a minute we thought we'd get turned down but to our delight they prepared a table and welcomed us in. They don't serve alcohol so you can bring your own bottle(s) (we opted for Riesling which my learned friend chose to accompany the meal - he was spot on!). Scanning the menu we opted to share starters so chose Thai Fish Cakes, Mee Grob (crispy noodles, prawns, spring onions and tamarind sauce) and Giew Grob (crispy wan-tons). The Mee Grob was by far the favourite of the three, we could have eaten a large popcorn container of it. Each. It was superb. For mains, I had 'Gai Kra Tiem Prik Thai' (stir fried chicken with garlic and pepper) which again, was fantastic and came out sizzling like crazy. I have to admit I was so enjoying my meal I didn't make a note of what my friends had but we all ate with gusto. One of the nicest Thai meals I've had in an age, it's set the benchmark high. For starter, for the Moo Yang Grilled Marinated Pork on Skewers. This tasted OK - the sauce was a bit overly sweet though for my taste. Going back to the mains, it wasn't the best unfortunately. The flavours were OK - a bit spicy (which it did not mention in menu) but the rice was a bit soggy and some of the veg was undercooked. For a drink, I went for the Thai Pa - a session IPA called My Thai's Pale Ale. Actually brewed by Northern Monk Brew Co. Tasted pretty good. The service was good though. We got a chicken satay, thai green curry and a massaman curry with portions of jasmine rice. The food tasted well and was well prepared. we enjoyed our meal and would definitely go back. One more thing that impressed me was that despite the time of the night, we weren't rushed. Overall we had an enjoyable experience this time, and as with everywhere else, I sincerely hope they continue their levels of quality and service.

Flavorful with a nice level of spice, and a good portion. For our mains I had the drunken noodles (guay tiew pad kimow) which was delicious, again with a perfect level of spice-to-flavor ratio and featuring a very generous portion of vegetables. My coworker had the red curry (gaeng phed) which was also very good, great flavor, very rich and creamy. All in all it was a great choice and a good price point. The restaurant itself was nice, comfortable and clean, and the staff was very attentive and friendly. I finished off with a sticky toffee pudding, as one must do when they're over in the U.K. from the US, and I will definitely return next time I'm in town! Mainly because I couldn't decide, I went for the mixed platter to start, which was good. The rolls and dips were tasty, some items were a little greasy but the prawn toast was great. The satay sauce was the highlight. I also tried a little of the cauliflower and chicken coconut soup, which was amazingly light but perhaps a bit soapy...? For main I had the masaman. Lots of tender beef, amazingly rich and fragrant nutty, sweet sauce and boiled rice. Incredible. I couldn't finish it as it got a bit sickly but boy, it was good. And meant I didn't need pudding. The Pad Thai was amazingly fresh with plenty of flavour, but didn't live up to (my impossibly high) expectations. Even on weeknights it seems to get quite busy so best to book.

They threw in some thai prawn crackers (much better than Chinese ones) and in all 2 dishes and a portion of rice was £18 which was alright. Really hoping to get here again soon, maybe to eat in as there's seating for about 40. Friendly staff on the phone and the chef even brought out our takeaway which was a nice touch.

Prawn salad, would have liked a few more glass noodles as it was so delicious and finally the Seafood Phad Char which was bursting with delicious cuttlefish, shrimp and green mussels. No rice required. The two of us were full.
