This is a seriously major railway station in that I believe that literally all of the trains end up…read morestopping here, or at least all of them with maybe the exception of the countrylink trains. However, you can be certainly guaranteed of getting a train here - maybe not a seat on the train, particularly during peak hour, but you can certainly get yourself a train. It is also one of those stations where you can catch trains to different parts of the city, without having to go in, and then out again.

Actually, this station is actually a pretty major railway station in that it provides an…read moreinterchange between two lines, and when they open up the North-East link this will also, for a time at least, be the terminus (though I believe they are going to send the trains straight through to Chatswood). The station is pretty cool though, and has quite a few facilities as well. However, it is the underground section that I particularly like.

Space age! I love going down the stainless steel escalators. It reminds me of a James Bond movie…read moreand sliding down the metal part between the runs. The station is clean and efficient and very busy with people especially before and after work. The announcements are clear and there is a well sized lift....but please let the disabled people use it.

One of the reasons that I have actually caught a train from here is because in times past I would…read moreend up staying around here as opposed to driving into the city to look for accomodation. The station is actually pretty cool, especially the tunnel that goes under the road that runs alongside the station, namely because it is actually a pretty major road. Trains may not be that frequent, but that has more to do with the station literally being on the outer edges of the city.

This station seems to have seen better days. It's not that it is run down or anything, though one…read moreof the platforms clearly has been left for dead (though you can't actually get to it to wait for a train that will basically never stop there) but it really isn't one of the major stations. Still, you can actually catch a train here, though most of them tend to shoot past in their rush to get to Central Station.

This is basically a railway station where two lines cross perpendicularly, the reason being that…read moreone of them is the airport line, which was recently constructed - sort of - when I say recently I am generally referring to for the Sydney Olympics as opposed to having been around since before I was born. However, it appears as if development has taken place around here as well, though in part this station still sort of feels like it is in the middle of nowhere.

This station is pretty awesome, particularly the architecture, or at least the part of it that made…read moreup the old station. Mind you, much of that has been replaced by the newer section up along the road, but the old main building is nothing short of gorgeous. Mind you, I was somewhat annoyed that the toilets were closed, but then again that does happen every so often, but it was a nice place to sit at while waiting for my train.

After the recent renovations the station looks much better. Its clean and I have noticed recently…read morethat we even have some new big pot plants to make it the station even peatier. The station is very straightforwards so you will never get lost (like some at central station) and have only one entry/exit too. There is a space to lock and leave you pushbike (I wish it was more of that, I don't think that's enough) and there is a toilet too (yay!) Sydenham also have fast trains to the city which I am a big fan. Only one thing is missing....a good coffee shop at the station or just next door... anyone willing to open one??

I would say that this is a nice, old-style station, but the thing is that quite a few of these…read morestations in Sydney still retain their aesthetic charm from days gone by. Well, sort of, because a lot of them still seem to be the same, but then again it does happen to be a railway station, and I probably shouldn't be all that surprised. Once again though, like most Sydney stations, this one is quite accessible, and also trains are reasonably regular, most of the time.

Stanmore. Can you really have more Stan? Rename this puppy Stanless, cos it's sparse…read more How sparse? On a need to know basis it's a simple two platforms that drops you in the middle of nowhere in Stanmore, and you need to leg it to get to the closest highway. Speaking of legging it, there ain't no barricades and you know what they say... opal cards are only used by honest commuters ;)

This transportation hub caters to all types of trains, regular trains and light rail. The…read moreplatforms are arranged in a logical manner 1-25 all in a row. (Note: The way to travel for rail, light rail and ferry is to have an opal card). If you need help with the ticket readers, let one of the train folks know so they can help you. Transfers to light rail are clearly marked and easy to follow. The rest room could have been cleaner, but it was free. The exterior looks retro with red brick and has modern touches with the white exterior roof. Finally, there are elevators and escalators here. I know the last time I tried to go thru the subway at Waterloo in London I had to ask a nice young man for help with my suitcase to get it down the escalator, since they didn't have an elevator to use.

This train station was great! Accessing the trains are easy, as you don't need to get a train card…read moreand add money to it. Just tap a card or a phone payment app to get in and out of the train platform areas. Then it was super easy to figure out what platform would lead you to your train. Trains came reliably on time and I was able to get around to the rest of Sydney with no problem. Highly recommend.
