I finally followed up on a recommendation from a friend to go see Judy. I just fell in love with her and her commitment to help me feel better. I started acupuncture about ten years ago while in China on a trip, So I have visited many acupuncturists over the years. Judy wanted to make sure that I was healed, not just treated. She put lots of needles in me, and did cupping all over, which I had not experienced before. Was there for a while, and just got lost in her magical work. I left there feeling like a new woman....what a treat Judy is! Run there, now....she will change your life!!! I love Judy's treatment room. OK, my QL muscle in my back which has been bothering me for the past several months has been driving me nuts between the lack of sleep due to the pain and just the pain on a daily basis. I have gone to a Massage Therapist and was wiling to pay anything to just get some relief! $65 later (Yelp Deal), pain was still there! Finally, I am desperate and decided to look into accupressure and read through the reviews and based on teh $45, I was like, "What the heck!" An amazing healer. I had never had acupuncture or cupping, but based on reviews, I had full faith that she knew what she was doing. It was relaxing, peaceful, and affordable. She gave me advice on my health afterwards, which I really appreciated. She has a very motherly vibe about her and is very personable. I will definitely be back! Heads up: bruises after cupping are completely normal and subside after a few days. Other reviews that expressed anger about them obviously didn't do any research. read more

Be aware!! An appointment was made for a family of five two weeks out. I received a call a few days later to say the Acupuncturist is not comfortable having all of us there sitting around 'watching' her work therefore she must cancel all five appointments. I explained that we will not all be sitting around waiting but will take turns leaving the premises. I was told the caller will relay my explanation and will get back to me either that evening or the next day at the latest. Well no call back until a couple of days later to say they will have a decision for us the following week. Apparently she expect us to put all of our Saturday plans on hold to see if she decides to keep our appointments or not. Instead of idling i decided to canceled all five appointments. How arrogant!!! I can attest to all the positive reviews on Dr Judy. She's a little eccentric but not in a bad way at all. I've used massage and chiropractors for years on a lower back & neck injuries. They helped but not for long. I'm writing this 2 weeks later. I still have more neck rotation than I've had for years and my back has been relatively pain free. Good thing - no sharp jolts, twists but sometimes pressure those points can be painful. I'd like to keep her a secret but if you suffer she's worth a visit & deserves genuine 5 star recognition. read more

She's like a magician & a master Benihana chef :) Plus, she will make you feel so cared for and beautiful, too - when she tells me to roll over, she calls me "little girl" (and I'm 51!!!). I had really bad back pain, because of stress. This weekend I went to 3 sessions of really intense massages, but even after that I was still sore. On Sunday I went to try acupuncture for the first time with Dr. Judy. After my session I didn't feel pain at all, the session was very relaxing and dr. Judy is such a sweet lady. The price is affordable based on my previous experiences with acupuncture. From the start, you can tell that she is very caring in regards to your well being. She is highly trained and very knowledgeable. She helped us with our ailements in a variety of ways. You will need to come with an open mind and a knowledge of Eastern medicine. Dr. Judy is amazing. I was having issues with tingling and numbness in my body when ever two or more of my extremities were out of their normal quadrant. After seeing Dr. Judy that sensation went away. In addition, I no longer have plantar fasciitis. Dr. Judy diligently works on you for the full 90-minutes. If you are unfamiliar with cupping, it can be a little startling, to begin with, but believe me -- well worth the bruising it causes. read more

I only went for one session and I can't say for sure if it worked or not. I went because I was having a lot of tension and tight muscles on the left side of neck, shoulder, and shoulder blade. I decided to go to her because the pain and tightness was not going away and it was going on for over 3 weeks. I saw her yelp reviews and decided to give it a try, I called, made an appointment, and was seen the following Sat morning at 10am. What I can say are the following: - she did spend a full hour working on my entire body and aiming to heal more of my left side as I expressed to her before she started treatment - it wasn't painful, except for certain pin points on the left side of my body, which was the side of my body experiencing most pain and tension - one of the pins on my left pinky stung me quite a bit so I told her, she appreciated that I told her - there was an appointment right after mine and those folks were in the room with their toddler who was running around the place (wasn't too fond of that) I am trying to heal in peace .. and there was a 3 year old running around and the parents were joking around with the acupuncturist. - I still have the same issues, maybe I need to go to a few more sessions - My session was $50 cash read more

I've suffered from moderate to severe repetitive stress injuries in my upper body for the past 7 yrs. My CMT in SF was booked all week, so, finding myself in Oakland on my day off, I found Judy thru Yelp. She is amazing. This is NOT FOR THE FAINT OF HEART. Judy's office is in Oakland's Chinatown, in a tiny office that is a bit on the dingy side. You can hear the toilet flushing in the hallway and traffic on the street, which actually made me feel more comfortable. As soon as I walked in, Judy asked me what the problem was, if I was ok with needles (I am), and promptly told me to put on a pair of jammy bottoms (leave your top on!). I don't know if everyone uses those same jammies, so next time I'm bringing my own. As soon as I changed, Judy had me lie face down on the bed, started heating all kinds of heating packs in the microwave, yanked off my socks, stuck needles in my legs and feet, and applied cupping (I don't even know what that is--uncomfortable at first, but I got used to it after the 3rd one). Her cell went off a few times during the appt. and she answered it, stuff started dropping onto the floor around me (my cupping doodads?), but I really didn't care. I love how relaxed and funny she is. And holy cow, did I mention it's only $45 for an hour?!! The session is a mix of mostly acupuncture and cupping, a bit massage (it prob. varies based on your needs), lots of hot packs, and chaos. But I'm going back if I need to, although for now I feel incredibly relaxed and knot-free. Tips: 1) This is NOT A SPA. It's down-and-dirty, straight up Chinese medicine, in the best possible way. 2) Get your feet did before you come in in case she yanks off your socks-I was mortified by the state of my feet. 3) Your hair and makeup will be a mess after a session here, so do it when you don't have to walk out looking like a beauty queen. 3.5) You need to be ok with acupuncture! I've never had so many needles in me at once in my life. I'm used to the "gentle touch" and soothing voice of my Caucasian acupuncturist in SF, whereas Judy means business. Not that Judy's not gentle, but she's not gonna warn you a needle's going in, either. 3.75) Don't plan this around any red carpet events. You'll have large welt-like bruises on your body from the cupping (they go away in a few days). 4) I am personally bringing my own jammy bottoms for the next session, you might want to too, just in case. 5) Tip her. Although she laughed and said something about the recession, I was like, lady, you are taking this tip whether you like it or not. 6) You really need to be adventurous, have a good sense of humor, and be a good sport to enjoy your experience here. If you are used to being a prince or princess you are going to be skeezed out and leave a negative review here. Don't say I didn't warn you. +++ UPDATE: I've been back a total of 4 times since my original review, and I swear Judy is a magician. This last time I went b/c of a bad fall. I'm still not cured (I sprained my back, and have only been recovering for a week), but I definitely feel better. I must say that I've laughed out loud a few times at the way she handles her pillows and towels--she sort of just throws them on you. Again, so not spa-like, but worth it. I love her positive energy, her generous words of encouragement, and her freaking power to heal! (How does she know that if she presses "HERE" that it will hurt..."THERE" ???) Worst part of each visit: I'm tempted to hug her afterwards, but I don't, b/c that's probably crossing the line. read more

I was so lucky being able to meet Dr. Judy! As a doctor she is experienced, confident and dedicated. But what's even more endearing to me is her warm personality. We had a wonderful conversation (since we both are from China and speak Mandarin), during which she gave me advice on not only medicine but also life and work in general. After the session, I felt refreshed and happy, and Dr. Judy gave me two small flasks of herb powder for free. In the end she saw me to the door and took a low bow, which I totally didn't deserve because I'm only in my 20s. In short, she is such a skillful doctor and lovable person that I must recommend her to everyone! read more

I'd had acupuncture, but I've never had anything like that before. She was very busy working on me, constantly cupping, sticking needles in and out on different places. Her acupressure was really strong. As a result, I was pain free when I walked out the door, but my chronic shoulder pain came back after several hours. I did feel better over all. At the end,she bowed very deeply, saying thank you and nobody has ever done that at least as I remember in US. I found myself doing the same. I haven't bowed like that in a long time even when I'm back in Japan. I think we're all forgetting being thankful and I respect that. read more

The place is small and basic but it helped me in several occassions. My first experience was more than 14 years ago when I broke my elbow. I had to wear a cast but then after it healed I had some swelling. My coworker recommended this place. After the session the swelling was gone and never came back. Then two years later my thumb hurt so much that I couldn't hold a pen . So I went back. I was able to draw, paint, and type well enough to do this review. I went back again two weeks ago because I have been having trouble moving my big toe from a recent surgery. Now I can feel and bend my toe . I had bruises from the cupping which could lasted for a 3 - 5 days. The needles did not hurt mostly except on the parts that were already sore and had sensitivity like the stiches I got from the surgery. One of the needles pointed at sensitive part of my toe and the pain lasted the entire time, while and the others I hardly felt.. I don't mind how the place looked like nor the little pain from the cupping and needles (1 out of 60). It was worth it for me. read more

Judy is absolutely amazing! She is an acupuncture and acupressure artist!! I came in several weeks ago with a recurring muscle ache in my neck due to stress, and a continuing muscle pull in my lower back because of intense workouts at the gym.. With vice like fingers and precision pins she worked me over and included cupping.. I did not feel any results immediately, but by the end of our session the neck pain was gone and 70% of my back pain was also gone. Within 24 hours all of my back pain was eliminated completely, and 3 weeks later it has not returned!! I feel rejuvenated and energetic with increased stamina and strength to work out even harder! If I ever need any acupuncture/acupressure in the future Dr. Judy is the only practitioner I will ever go to.. I wish her long life and much health. Dr. Judy is the ACUTE CARE EXPERT of acupuncture! I went to her with a very new and painful shoulder strain (nothing torn!). Her assessment and treatment was amazingly accurate and I regained almost full range of motion within days. Her session was 90 minutues and the attentiveness and thoroughness of her care included cupping, acupuncture needles, acupressure and the use of many heating towels. I was amazed at her rates, too! I gave her a tip which she refused. I am so grateful for her healing services and have an even greater appreciation for Chinese medicine after my session with her. read more

She does work on you non-stop, but her treatment felt as if it was "all over the place", as opposed to really targeting the problem area that you sought treatment for. Just had a session for an extreme case of Carpal Tunnel where my hand could not move for several days. Kaiser doctor told me just to take Advil for a week. Not good when your whole job relies on being able to program. I booked an appointment and it was awesome. My fingers & flexibility vastly improved after the session. Bao Ping Zeng, aka Dr. Judy is one of the few acupuncturists in private practice that works on the weekend. She utilizes some cupping, and a LOT of warm heated rice pads that she made herself as part of the treatment, and she has some raw herbs in her clinic as well. Her office is not exactly fancy, yet it's still cozy. Parking can be hassle, but she's worth it. If you need some nurturing, give Dr. Judy a try. read more

Dr. Judy did the most thorough traditional Chinese medical treatment on me that I have gotten in years. I had a very sore back sprain before I went. She worked on me for an hour and a half, alternately using acupuncture, cupping methods, Tui Na massage, heat and cold packs. After the treatment, I felt more supple than I had in years, and my pain level on a scale of 1-10 went from about a 7 to about a 1. She is very kind, ethical, and great for someone who likes deep treatments, and understands the benefits of going to an acupuncturist. read more

I've had carpal in my right hand/arm for 10 years. It flares up and down in severity. After a single treatment with Bao Ping Zeng, I felt great relief. While my arm still feels slightly sore and weak, the very sharp twanging pains I was feeling previous to treatment are gone. I tipped her generously because it was so much less expensive than an average acupuncturist and I had much greater results. She is abrupt (culturally very Chinese) but very kind. The cupping and acupuncture wasn't exactly painful but uncomfortable and pretty intense. I was covered in purple hickies for about 2 weeks. However, I'm pretty dumbfounded at how much this this treatment has helped me. read more

... This was a very great experince. Judy is very kind and welcoming. I had never done acupuncture or cupping. It hurt and felt so relaxing at the same time-- amazing. Judy found spots where I had pent up pain. I felt beyond re-newed when i woke up after the session. She checked me out after the session for pain areas. The worst experience ever for my 16 year old daughter. She kept telling her how she needed to lose weight and be less stressed. I should have stepped in earlier as I knew my daughter would be upset. Finally see my daughters shoulders shaking because she was crying so hard. We stopped the treatment and left. She said it was a cultural thing to say things directly.
