I wanted to update my review to say that I took Candise's Acupuncture for Survivors line of treatment and it was transformative. She helped me unravel the connections between the emotional trauma of domestic violence and the physical pain I was experiencing, and approach recovery from both in a more healthy, paced way. I was also having digestive issues that were more severe than acupuncture and herbs could address. I deeply fear the regular medical system after many insensitive/gaslighting/expensive experiences with it... but Candise persuaded me to confront a regular doctor with the evidence of over a year of persistent diarrhea, and see if I could finally get them to take my problems seriously. They responded by giving me a colonoscopy, and although the colonoscopy did not find any specific cause for the chronic diarrhea or pain, they DID find and remove a pre-cancerous polyp. So yeah, Candise not only gave me alternative treatment, she emotionally supported me to engage with regular treatment in a way I probably wouldn't have ordinarily. And that forwarded cancer prevention! I especially appreciate how Candise repeatedly encouraged me to face my justifiable doctor phobia in a way that was supportive and caring without being pressuring or judgmental. read more

I've been seeing Candise for the last half year for support with Long Covid and frequent migraines. Working with her has helped me so much in my healing journey! What a professional! It's really hard to come across a practitioner that doesn't just listen but hears what you say. I'm usually the one expected to ask the deep questions and listen for the nuance between the clients words, hearing what they are actually saying. When I met with Candise for our first appointment, I was delighted and relieved to be the one on the other side... for someone to listen to what I was saying but to also listen to what I wasn't. I am in an intense physically laborious job, to say the least. I have an injury in the front left hip and within 2 weeks, my pain has greatly diminished. I've been working with Candise for two months now and I honestly can say it has been and continues to be peaceful and healing experience with her. I'm a dentist and basically have to hold my body in natural positions for 8hrs a day. I was experiencing HORRIBLE neck pain for about 3 weeks straight that none of my usual stretches/exercises could touch. I had been dealing with sciatic nerve pain for almost a month. I had been to urgent care ( sent home with flexril) still in pain. Before working with Candise, I was looking for a holistic solution to regulate my menstrual cycle and improve overall women's health. My cycles have been fairly irregular for the past couple of years and can be often times unpredictable. After working with Candise for the last few months, my cycle has become more regular, predicable, and the time between cycles have decreased. I was quite surprised that after a few months, she was able to help regulate the cycles in a few short months, when I had been struggling with this for years. I began working with Candise in early March 2022. My typical weekday involves working at a desk for multiple hours during the day and training jiu jitsu at night. This is a routine I had kept up for over a decade, which progressively resulted in constant tension in my shoulders, elbows, forearms, hips, legs, and chest. Many grapplers often dismiss injuries/soreness/pain as simply "part of the sport," which is true to some extent. However, I have personally supplemented my martial arts training and fitness activities with foam rolling, lacrosse ball rolling, and yoga, and have long believed in trigger point therapy. I took a 2-year break from jiu jitsu starting in early 2020 due to Covid-19, which alleviated some of the gradual/cumulative injuries that racked up over time. However, when I returned to jiu jitsu in February 2022, I was welcomed back with a litany of traumatic injuries, including sprains and ligament injuries in my knee, wrist, and finger. My body obviously needed to re-acclimate to the rigors of training, but I also wanted a boost beyond my personal self-care routine to heal my injuries. My wife was already treating with Candise when I found out that she offered acupuncture + myofascial release and had experience working with athletes. I already had a solid interpersonal rapport with Candise, and decided to give her a shot. I have since had a handful of sessions with her, and my body is responding really well to her treatment. My sessions have involved acupuncture and cupping at trigger points. I'd say I have above-average awareness of the trigger points (i.e. knots) in my body, which really makes me appreciate Candise's level of precision. I've dealt with stiffness in my neck and back for years, characterized mostly by limited range of motion, discomfort when sitting or standing for long periods of time, and tight muscles - all of which I've come to attribute to desk work, lack of stretching, and poor posture. The discomfort is not so much disruptive or disabling in my day-to-day, but more than anything it's just annoying - like a little rock stuck in my shoe. I've tried various remedies over the years, including chiropractic, physical therapy, massage therapy, and OMT. All provided some short term relief, but never attacked the heart of the issue: the knots and tightness deep in the muscles in my neck, traps, shoulders, chest, and back. Candice is AMAZING!! I started going to Candice Yang Acupuncture for my Sciatic nerve pain that from a pain scale of 1-10 I was a 9-10 and barely could walk on stand correctly. I have long covid, which for me means very limited energy, fatigue, headaches, brain fog, hearing loss/tinnitus, Gl distress, and loss of appetite. I had a consultation phone call with Candise before deciding to book my first appointment and she answered all of my questions and thought she could help with my symptoms. After my very first appointment with her, I felt so much immediate relief that I went to the grocery store and cooked for the first time in weeks (which is a very low bar, but it was a huge deal for me)!! Every week, Candise asks me a series of detailed questions about how I'm feeling, often referring to or following up on things we've talked about in previous sessions. She is very emotionally aware and I feel listened to and understood in a way that I never have in a medical setting before. Based on our conversation, she then presses on different points on my body to identify where/how she is going to treat that day. I know it's something she is trained to do, but it is shocking how easily she finds tender or sore spots that I didn't know were there! We do acupuncture, cupping, and I get a new herbal formula from her each week tailored to the symptoms I'm currently experiencing. All of my symptoms have improved dramatically and are much more manageable now.
