A great bar on Wellington street with excellent service! I tried making a reservation online (which I highly recommend because they can get very busy and only have outdoor patio dining), and was the first on the wait list. Tried our luck and they were still packed with no room. However, the staff was incredibly nice and accommodating and created a makeshift table with a heat lamp for us on the side! I had a delicious aperol spritz, and we tried some appetizers. Highly recommend the crispy nori and the charred octopus. The caramel corn was just okay.

Great beer selection and late night bites! The staff is all friendly, attentive, and clearly passionate about what they do. My group wasn't sure what to order, but our waiter was able to provide excellent recommendations based on our drink preferences and even put together a delicious charcuterie board for us. We couldn't have been happier with the recommendations! Everything was spot-on. I'd definitely recommend making a reservation for a weekend night - this place gets packed. My group had a reservation but waited about 10 minutes for our table to be cleared. There was also a 30th birthday party going on so it was a little rowdy, but made the vibe all the more lively. Next time I'd love to try their dinner entrees - everything looked so good!

I came here with some friends really late at night around 1230 am on a Saturday. The bar was still busy (good sign) even though the stretch of Hintonburg was rather quiet on a very cold night. They have an amazing selection of beers on tap and on bottle. My friend who knows his way around the beer and wine world ordered a bottle of the Cantillon, a beer based out of Brussels. I must say it was probably one of the top 10 beers I have tried and is one of the most hard to get and rare beers in the world. This bottle was 1 of around 60 available in North America so it was a great treat for us. The bar was also doing late night eats, which was Khao Soi noodles by chef Mike Frank. It was egg noodles in red curry broth with braised beef and mustard greens. I've never had Khao Soi before so it was definitely a new experience for me. Highly recommend this place for its service and selection of alcohol. It can get a little pricey because the quality of their food and drink are on the higher end.

One of my favourite places in the city for drinks. I especially love their cocktails but they have an incredible selection of beers and wines as well. My favourite drink is the the Bucky Mulloy cocktail pictured below with delicious rhubarb bitters. Their menu is always changing but my favourite item is the lamb galette (also pictured) and they always have delicious local cheese options on their charcuterie boards to choose from! Great service and even cooler atmosphere inside! In the summer, they also have a back patio which is very intimate and a must try!

Great food and atmosphere! Definitely a place for charcuterie lovers; he menu is small but refined. We had the endive salad it was delicious!! My favourite bite of the night.

Three stars for the fabulous beverages - in particular, I recommend the "delivery boy". But really, all of the drink choices are just incredible - the cherry stout is *amazing*. This place is a solid win if you're just out for drinks! However, guys, ya gotta pull up your socks with the food situation. Flavours: excellent. BUT. Please, for the love of all that is holy, do not bring me my teensy, tiny, overhyped "meal" just lukewarm. I like my food hot, especially if there is so very little of it. Also: there's this thing called bread that is a really nice starter to have kicking around, especially when the main food is so fancified as to leave you hungry. Look, nobody wants to see me drunk on ten too many delicious cocktails and not enough food. Just fix that one major detail, and we're headed for a full house of stars!

I loved the menu, food, atmosphere, and service here! I have no complaints. The food is worth the price you pay and is so elegantly presented. Everything tasted wonderful. We went out for dinner with a group of 8 this summer. They had their window wall opened so it was almost like a patio setting. They were able to accommodate our larger group but a reservation is definitely required. They are quite the busy place and not as big overall. They offer all different types of craft beers for those beer lovers out there! They have a pretty good drink menu too. I will definitely come back to try out other things on their menu.

Note that I don't post five star reviews often! I've been seeing pictures of drinks and food from this place a ton on Instagram so I had to come and try it out for myself! I had such a great time that I already want to come back! I came on weekday evening after work, and it became packed pretty quickly; I would suggest making a reservation. I got a spot at the bar, but on the side where they assemble the dishes, so it was really entertaining to watch them work. Firstly, the beers...this is the only place I've found in Ottawa so far that allows you to get sample sizes of a beer that they have on tap! They had about 20 on tap, and I tried about half. Instead of having to be stuck with a beer you don't like, just get a few on tap! My favourite was #5 on tap, which tasted surprisingly like a deep fortified red wine. I also tried a bottled beer; many I am told are seasonal or difficult to find. The servers really know their stuff, and you can tell they are truly passionate about beer when you speak with them. I had the pleasure of talking with Steve, Matt, and Andy. I have not had such friendly and knowledgeable service for a long time, and was thoroughly impressed. Now, not only are the beers amazingly unique, the food is also presented beautifully and tastes delicious! I tried: - the lamb carpaccio: My favourite was definitely the carpaccio due to the variety of flavors and the freshness of the meat! The slices of fig were a great compliment, and the wasabi brought freshness. - farfelle pasta with pigs blood: I chose this as the server said it was the richest tasting pasta and he wasn't wrong! Every bite was richly flavorful and I wanted more when I was done. - the brussel sprouts: beautifully presented, they were cooked well and slightly charred. I only wish there were more slices of prosciutto on top to add a meaty smokiness to the vegetable! The atmosphere is super cozy and dim, and it's loud enough so others don't hear your conversation. It's super fun to watch the servers make beer samples and assemble the food, so make sure to sit at the bar! I'll definitely be back to try more beer samples and more of their food menu. Super impressed overall by the drinks, food, AND service!

Excelent draft selection. Food is really tasty, but expensive. Be prepared! Service is very good. The server explains each plate, and actually gives honest opinions. I've been twice in three weeks. The second time I went just for drinks and the hole draft list was different, but still amazing. They also have a long list of bottle beers and wine. Some people were having cocktails, not my thing, so I couldn't say anything about it (They're pretty, though!)

We missed the brunch menu as I think they stopped serving that around 1pm. The lunch menu was mostly sandwiches, and I had the crispy chicken sandwich with half side of fries and half salad. I love that they offer you the option of half/half. The portion size is definitely on the smaller side but the sandwich with side was only $13 and I prefer the smaller portion as I've been trying to control my portions better. The chicken sandwich was ok - the chicken could have been more seasoned / better coating but it wasn't bad.

The place is always very busy and I now I understand why. The food is delicious, service is good and the prices are great. My husband and I were both off work on a Friday, so we decided to head there for a late-ish lunch. We got there close to 2pm and it was packed indoors. The patio was relatively empty, and that's where we opted to sit. The patio started to fill up as we were there. I got the fried chicken sandwich with fries ($12) and my husband got the Brisket Plate ($13) which came with corn, mac and cheese and some toast. The portions are smaller than at most restaurants, but I actually prefer the lower price and smaller portions. My fried chicken sandwich was delicious. The chicken was crispy and the slaw had carrots, jalapeno and celery. They were generous with the sliced pickles. I asked them to hold the mayo, which they did. I hate wet sloppy sandwiches, so it was perfect without the mayo. The fries were thin shoestring fries, my favourite type. They were crispy and so tasty. My husband also enjoyed my fries, lol. I also gave him a bite of my sandwich and he liked it too. My husband loves his Brisket Plate. I had a taste of the brisket and he gave me a lean piece because he knows I hate fatty meat and it was good. I also tried some of the mac and cheese and I liked that too. Apparently there was sweet potatoes in the mac and cheese, but I didn't taste it. I like how they give you water in a bottle, so you don't have to ask for refills (unless you drink more than the bottle, in which case I'm sure they'd give you a second bottle). Service was lovely. Although the patio is at the side of the restaurant and is next to a parking lot, the ambiance was good. I liked that some tables were in the shade (ours) but they had some in the sun for those who like that. The inside ambiance is more drinking hole-like, lol. It was loud and crowded. I preferred the patio environment. The Third is where The Blackpepper Urban Pub used to be. They actually kept one of the awnings that you can see from the patio; it says Blackpepper. The parking lot next door has limited parking spots and some are marked as reserved for SuzyQ (the donut shop) and others for QpiXXX (which used to be an "adult entertainment" store and it might still be, but now mostly sells bongs and other cannabis paraphernalia). Some spots are unmarked, so maybe customers of The Third can park there (?) I've seen Circle K customers parking there. Circle K is the business immediately west of the parking lot. We walked there, so I'm not entirely sure about the parking situation. My only regret is having waited this long to try The Third. We will definitely be returning. I want to try their Veggie Burger next :)

When we went into 10Fourteen, the first thing I said was, "this is exactly how I would design a bar if I had one." The small venue was decorated in browns, grays, blacks and whites, with chalkboards, bubble lights, chunky mirrors, painted quotes on canvas ("Love is all you need" and others in that vein) and other funky, classy decor. It's a small place, with a long, two-piece bar, a few booths, a couple tables and a small lounge area. At 8PM on a Wednesday, there were a few other couples in there, and what looked like a larger group sitting on the couch in the "lounge." Everyone was middle aged or younger. Our helpful bartender immediately greeted us with a martini glass filled with delicious truffle, cinnamon popcorn. I ordered a Slap and Tickle, despite it being what seemed like a more wine-focused bar -- and only three beers on tap. The drink (gin, cucumber juice) was refreshing, but not strong at all. And maybe these stingy pours are just something I have to get used to up here in Canada, but there was 1 ounce of alcohol in the whole drink, despite it being served in a highball glass. Despite both of us ordering drinks, we were not given water, which is a bit of a bartender pet peeve of mine. The chalkboard menu is really hard to follow. An item example: "Glass of bacon/jack/lime/coke." Not exactly sure what that meant, but we saw "BACON" so we asked and ordered it. It was really, really good. Jack Daniels and Coke rubbed bacon (five pieces for $5), baked and served in a martini glass with a lime. Totally cool and funky (and yummy!) but wish the menu were more easily decipherable. Things were a little chaotic behind the bar, which totally contrasted with the more relaxed vibe intended at the bar. There seemed to be no POS system and the kitchen was right behind the bar with the bartenders. I'm talking people pulling food out of refrigerators, prepping it, microwaving -- the whole deal. The bright lights from the open refrigerator door made it all together too bright in the bar, killing the mood lighting, and it seemed nonsensical to set it up that way. I'm all for open-view kitchens, but maybe not as restricted as that, and not right with the bartenders trying to make drinks. All in all, I really liked the place. Cool vibe, good stuff on the menu (when you are told what it is), and really nice and helpful staff. I just wish they could live up to the potential a bit more. I'll definitely go back and adjust my rating accordingly.

Then came the part that defies common sense. After dinner they were clearing space for a DJ. We had settled our bill. I went to order a drink at the bar and was told I had to walk to the front door to pay a $5 cover before I could buy a $10, one-ounce drink .... after I had already spent nearly $100 on dinner. When I politely asked how this possibly made sense, the manager stepped in and argued that we had to pay. I have decided that I will not mention his name despite how insulting I found this to be. I'm choosing to give someone the benefit of the doubt. Maybe he was having a bad day. So let's do Math 101. An empty bar. Paying guests. Good-tippers. A lively group ready to keep spending. And you stop the sale over $5 and talk down to your customers. This felt like a perfect example of what I personally feel is going wrong in society today -- people blindly enforcing "rules" without applying any human judgment, common sense, or situational awareness, and mistaking a small bit of authority for good decision-making. In fairness, perhaps he doesn't have the power to override silly little penny-pinching rules by owners/mgmt. We walked out immediately -- on principle. It wasn't even about the five dollars. That single interaction left a worse taste than anything we ate. It takes real talent to turn happy dinner customers into walking warnings. I have to say, everyone else, including the doormen outside, were really super nice (hence the 2 stars).
