two plates of food on a table

SUCH a flavorful experience! Love that there are drink options too (Arabic coffee YUM and the rose water lemonade? Yes please!) Loveddd the chicken shawarma on hummus plate (will probably crave it until my next trip to Ottawa). Beautiful plating & colors in a beautiful setting! Omar, the owner has made most of, if not all of, the beautiful artwork. He was kind, hard working, and attentive. Will make another stop here next time I'm in town!

The absolute best falafel I have ever had in my entire life. Lovingly prepared by chef/owner Raouf Omar.

The absolute best falafel I have ever had in my entire life. Lovingly prepared by chef/owner Raouf Omar, who also happened to have painted every picture in his restaurant. Even his ceiling is covered with his murals. Raouf came to Ottawa Canada in the 1980s after living in a Refugee Camp in Palestine. Warm hospitality. Arty atmosphere. Amazing food.

Beef shawerma plate (substituted pita bread for veggies) - tasty but small portion

VERY pretty wall art & colourful stained glass decor. The food was delicious too, but the slow/non-existent service and smaller portions were disappointing. Beef shawerma plate on homous (substituted the pita bread for vegetables instead) - The beef itself was tasty, had a nice char but still soft. The portion was smaller compared to other shawarma joints and it didn't come with any additional sides. The homous was plentiful and tasty though.

Very accommodating for my severe food sensitivities! Truly loves his customers and takes pride in his restaurant!

Owner very accommodating to my severe food sensitivities. Omar takes pride in all he prepared and presented dishes very well!

Food is very delicious, I got the chicken kabab with no fries or rice (my choice.) I also got a side of hummus which I highly recommend you get!! Service 5/5 was splendid Food 6/5 was delicious and fast Environment 5/5 all the art around Price 5/5 This place is worth coming to, the hospitality from the staff is above and beyond.

Gorgeous art done by the owner covers all the walls.

Chicken Shawarma Fattoush Salad, and rose water. Great food to take out or eat in. Home made authentic Mediterranean healthy. I always feel good eating Jericho's food. Omar's art covers the walls and ceiling and tables. Like an art gallery. Love it.

I really do want to give a better rating for this restaurant, because the staff and decor were so lovely, but I just can't justify it because of the food. I had the hummus and pita, along with the chicken shawarma. Both plates lacked flavour and spices and are just not on par with what it could be. Won't come back despite the pretty decor.

Very trendy Mediterranean place! So many beautiful art pieces to look at, everything made by Omar (the very sweet owner and artist). Small business vibe, worth the support. Had the kafta plate with salad and hommos. Kafta was very flavorful, seasoned with herbs and spices. They have "jalab" style Rose Ice Tea (ask for ice if you want it chilled). Their arabic coffee has a spice to it which was an interesting kick. Overall a lovely spot to meet a friend for lunch or coffee on a beautiful day.

First of all I want to start by saying how impressed I was by the great atmosphere and character of the place with a truly authentic decor and feeling as if I was travelling to another country. We were greeted by a very nice server who asked us if we had been there before; yet we mentioned how my mom knows how to make Lebanese food and therefore we all love it; yet never been at their place per se. We decided to get several appetizers to share and two entrees. We started by trying the lentil soup which was amazing. We also tried the grape leaves and more authentic dishes we all loved. At the end we had a yummy Baklava for dessert and it was so delicious. Overall we were pleased to have tried a little bit of everything. It was definitely worth every penny we paid and rest assured that whenever I come again to Ottawa I will be visiting again. My recommendation is if you are a large group to have many appetizers or buy different dishes so you all get to try all the great things that they have to offer.

This is the most unique looking Mediterranean and Middle-Eastern restaurant I've been to in Ottawa. Most of this is due to the colourful stained glass artwork covering almost every inch of the walls. Even the ceiling is colourfully painting. All of the artistry seems to embrace the same culture as the food, which helps add to the dining experience. Another of my favourite offerings of Jericho is their cheap take-out falafel ($4.50). It's around the same price as a falafel from a cheap shawarma joint, but with much better ingredients. They also have a daily special on their eggplant parmesan with salad and rice: very tasty. They have many menu items for different preferences, including vegetarians and American food lovers. They also have a cheap quality breakfast. This is one of my parents' favourite Ottawa restaurants. Also, all of their art is for sale.

We love Lebanese food as one of our best friends is from Lebanon and opened our eyes. It was sketchy walking in, it looked closed and the parking lot was empty other than 2 other cars. But, upon opening the door and making our way to the dining area it was much better. Clearly this used to be a BIG operation back in the day, but now looks like it is mostly for take out or quick meals. The dining area and kitchen were all bright and clean. The man behind the counter was very friendly and was happy to sell us a couple of falafel on the side. He custom makes each wrap and plate for the guest which is great. You can see the meat on the spits as well as all of the fresh veg and sauces. He takes his time to build it just right for us which was really nice. Good menu options, I would have liked to try more. We really enjoyed our mixed wrap. He was kind enough to put the hot sauce on one half and not the other. Both were great. The falafel was quite dry, and the sauce didn't really help much. Good flavor. Overall it is a solid option, I'd get it again in a pinch, but the meats and falafel were quite dry. Service was great, everything was fresh and it was a great stop for us.

Based on other reviews, especially Keith T.'s, I ordered the half grilled boneless chicken plate with Bokhari rice. The plate also comes with turnips, salad, hummus, and garlic. I decided to upgrade the salad to a fattoush salad, get an additional 2oz hummus and garlic sauce (I didn't know how big/small the ones would be that came with the platter), as well as 2oz of Ali's Hot Sauce and an additional Kabab Halabi skewer. The chicken was cooked perfectly, great char but still super moist. the hot sauce was very spicy. The fresh herbs and vegetables on the side were such a great pairing. The fattoush was good, especially with the extra crispy pita chips on top. I do wish, however, that plain rice was an option, as I actually didn't need flavoured rice and would've preferred plain. My husband ordered a chicken taouk wrap with garlic, lettuce, onion, and tomato, plus batata hara and a Coke Zero. I've never had fateh before and also wanted to try it because of Hadia G.'s review. I got a single order. It had freshly cooked chickpeas with a mix of yogurt and tahini on a bead of pita chips and topped with pine nuts. This was by far my favourite and I could eat it ALL DAY. My husband and I were obsessed. OBSESSED! It was warm and delicious, creamy but not super rich, and very flavourful rather than just salty. I swear it should be illegal to eat this many pita chips, but we just couldn't stop. This is a bold statement, but I think it's one of the top vegetarian dishes I've ever had. It's on the breakfast menu but is available all day. I got knafeh for dessert, also for the first time. It was nice and cheesy, and I expected it to be sweet, but maybe just a little too sweet for me. Since this was my first time trying fateh, I can't compare it to anywhere else, but I would absolutely order it again and again!

For us modest appetites, this is easily 3 meals - easily! We ordered 2 plates and a sandwich for 4 people and still had enough leftovers for a small breakfast the morning after. My personal favorite was the mixed shawarma plate. I love how it comes with pita made specifically for Shawarma Palace, rice, potatoes, salad, pickled veg, and the meat. We also got the mixed kabob plate which featured tender beef but the chicken kabob was just a hair bit dry. The falafel sandwich was actually very dry and I would not recommend this. We also picked up some baklava for dessert after and I liked how it was just sweet enough! You can taste the pistachios and I thought the kiss of rose water was just enough to make the bite memorable!

Happened upon this restaurant one evening. I saw a shawarma place on the north side of the street,…read moreso I prepared to turn off and go back, but here was another shawarma place. Quickly looked at Yelp and saw a fantastic number of reviews. So this place looked to be the real thing. I stepped up to the counter and ordered the beef shawarma platter to eat in. The guys just kept piling more and more on the platter. It was absolutely ridiculously huge by the time they were done. It was stacked with beef on top. As I paid, I asked for a take-out container. There was no hesitation. So obviously, this is the way they do it. I sat in the super clean dining area and started in on this massive dish. Then I saw a young family carry their plates to a table adjacent to me. And they all had these massive plates too. So after stuffing myself and hardly putting a dent in this pile of food I had to load up the take out clamshell. It would hardly close and weighed 2-3lbs (after filling myself). So if you want to buy one dish and eat a tasty healthy meal for a week. This is your place. It seemed very clean in the restaurant (signs say leave your dishes on the table - so they are obviously bussing the tables regularly). The washroom was also exceptionally clean. The staff that built my meat mountain were super friendly. I would certainly recommend this place!

I finally went there recently and ordered some meat pies ($2 each) and meat and cheese pies ($2.75 each). Both types of pies were great, but I liked the meat and cheese one the most. The cheese was so chewy, and slightly squeaky. It reminded me of cheese curds. The meat was well seasoned and wasn't too sour or too salty like at some places. The dough was thin and slightly crispy, not doughy. I like thin and crispy, so I liked the dough. The meat had a slight smokey flavour to it, but not as much as Aladdin's. I compare most meat pies to Aladdin's because they are my favourite, but Al Noor is a very very close second. They are both very similar. Al Noor's has more meat and cheese but Aladdin's has more of that smokey flavour that I like. The bakery has some seats so you can eat your food there. They also sell some sweets that are prepackaged (not baked there). They also sell beverages. I didn't like the fact that the staff did not wear gloves while they prepared my food. Nor did I see them washing their hands at any point. The man preparing my food was actually holding his phone with one hand (and watching a video on it) and preparing my food with this other hand (and occasionally touching his phone with the food preparing hand). Minus 1 star for (lack of) sanitation. If staff wore gloves, this place would get 5 stars from me. Staff are nice enough. The place is bigger than I expected. It's in a strip mall on Wylie just off Carling (you can see the bakery from Carling). There is a small parking lot in front, so there is free parking but it's limited.
