There seems to be a gelato shop on every corner in Florence. This shop is located in the most touristy area of Florence and the prices reflect that. Aside from a bar they mainly have pastries and gelato. There is no seating inside, it's a place to "grab and go". I stopped here for some coffee gelato. But guess what? They were out. So I got two scoops in a cup of different flavors - stracciatella and tiramisu. The stracciatella barely had any chocolate chips at all and was served quite melted. The tiramisu had a fantastic flavor but was far too soft and runny. Even though it was a cool night, before I was halfway through the cup, the gelato was complete liquid. My takeaway is that this is not the best choice for gelato.

Great location. Very friendly service.. However, you pay outrageous prices, particularly if you sit and order. Common in Italy to charge more if you sit down and order. That's not the issue. Also common to pay higher prices in place near tourist areas. I live in Italy so understand. However, we paid 37 euros for 2 iced cappuccinos, 1 Coke Zero, 1 liter Acqua minerale, 1 tramezzino tiny sandwich with mozzarella and tomatoes

Right on the square

I was looking for spaghetti bolognese and it was not on the menu. The waiter showed me a dish and assured me it was piccolo pasta with bolognese. It was amazing! Great red wine and caprese salad as well!

Great location a bit pricey compare to nearby bars and cafes but worth the views or the Piazza Della Signoria. We stopped by for a aperitivo after some shopping in the area. I really love an ice cold Aperol Spritz and this place had a very delicious one. How many could you possibly have ???? While in Italy that's all I ordered when I wanted an alcoholic drink.

The service was fast and friendly at this cute bar we happened to past by. I really enjoyed the pistachio and lemon gelato and would love to come back for the other flavors.

Our first walk into Bar Perseo, the owners and staff (Roberto) made our initial visit VERY warm and inviting! The selection of pastries was WOW!, Italian Coffee's and restaurant food was excellent. Each day we spent in Florence up to our last day was absolutely our goto place to sit, relax, eat and enjoy the views of the Piazza della Signoria while people watching. Roberto was very engaging not only with us but as we observed with every guest he was taking care off, the staff was of the same pleasant attitude. For my wife and I, it made our vacation all the more pleasant after miles of exploring and sightseeing! There are others writing low reviews because of the prices, well, location - location - location. Yes, there are other establishments around the corner anyone can enjoy and its all good. Gratitude to Bar Perseo for an absolutely wonderful and memorable experience in Florence!! We will see you again on our 2.0 Florence vacation!! W&G

Nice location, relatively expensive. Tiramisu is quite special one but with great flavor. Time for coffee review. Temperature good, foam almost perfect, size good. Beans medium fresh. Smoky taste, brewing is good, quite spiky and not very round. Quite intense. Cappuccino 5.5€

We showed up on Christmas and this place has the best service. We ordered multiple americanos with omelettes and also several croissants. All in bits and pieces of orders. Our waiter never once mind that and every time happily went back and got us what we were looking for. And add to that, omelette with Americano was just superb! Really awesome location, food and service.

We have stopped in for breakfast here twice before going to Ufizzi. It is a great location. We sat outside and watched people go by. I had a cafe latte, it was decent. The pasteries here are divine! Best pistachio pasteries in Florence! The prices are a bit on the high side. We would come back for breakfast another time!

Not sure what all the hate is about, but I'm a fan of booze and custom coffees! All I could think of was Julia Roberts trying to order her espresso in Eat, Pray, Love. During the morning, this coffee shop is piping hot with tourists and locals--but more locals than you'd think. On a corner of the Piazza Della Signora, it's a traditional Italian cafe where you order at the counter and sip/eat at said counter whilst making new friends. Tip 1: Hot chocolate in Italy isn't Swiss Miss. It means melting a chocolate bar, adding a smattering of milk and topping off with heavy cream. If you can't sip syrup, I'd suggest getting something else. Tip 2: get an Irish coffee. I'm not a fan, but the near freezing temperatures forced me to give this body-warmer a try. I swear this was one of the tastiest concoctions I've ever sipped! It was also fun seeing the barista expertly prepare our drinks. Tip 3: If you sit outside, you'll see lots if horse-drawn carriages near the patio. Ask to pet the horses. It was such an otherworldly, magical experience to have horses so tame that they lean into you when you pet them. Tip 4: Their desserts are enormous and worth the price. I order strawberries and cream and they brought out a goblet with at least 2 trays or sliced strawberries and a heaping mound of real whipped cream the size of a baseball. His gelato trio could have fed a Roman legion - no, seriously, 3 baseball-sized scoops with an assortment of cookies and hot fudge do not make happy jeans.

Food was okay. Price different from final bill. You'll get overcharged if you're not careful.

Excellent!! The most amazing staff. Yes expensive but so worth. The lemon crème with almonds is one of best desserts I've ever had.

Vibrant outdoor cafe right on the square. Stopped here for a drink while we waited for our hotel room to be ready.

Located in the San Lorenzo district, just a few minutes' walk from the main train station of Santa…read moreMaria Novella), Mercato Centrale is a vibrant food hall experience housed in a historic market building (very similar to the Time Out Market franchise across Europe). From the outside, it looks like a grand, iron-and-glass structure typical of European markets; inside, it opens into a bustling, multi-level space filled with food vendors, communal tables, and constant movement. The vibe is energetic, social, and slightly chaotic in a fun way - perfect for grazing, group dining, or trying multiple cuisines in one visit (from Italian to American to Mexican!). We stopped in for a quick lunch at around 2pm on a Wednesday; there was plenty of seating at high-top tables, and QR codes on paper menus make it easy to explore all the different food vendor options. It's also a fun activity to peruse the market, taking in different sights, smells, and flavors. All of us ended up opting for Schiacciatas (large Italian sandwiches that are a staple in Florence) from Massimiliano Parri, which all ended up ranging from €10-12, depending on toppings - yes, it's more expensive than what you'd get from a traditional schiacciateria, but you're also paying for the market's location and convenience. We appreciated the fact that they shave the meat right in front of you! My schiacciata came with freshly shaved ham atop crusty white bread, slathered with burrata cheese, and sprinkled with arugula and figs (I opted for no additional olive oil, since I found the ham quite rich already). I loved the contrast of textures and flavors, though I will say that the bread ended up cutting the roof of my mouth! All in all, Mercato Centrale is a bit touristy, but still miles better (and cheaper) than most "Italian" sandwich places you'd find in the US (pro tip: save your receipt for free use of their bathrooms). The variety can't be beaten, prices are reasonable for a central market, and it's steps from some of Florence's most iconic spots.

I don't know if it's slow to me because crazy Americans think everything should be faster than not. So I wish I could give half stars. They are super nice ..,it just took a while to get my order in. The second thing that I don't think they can control is the people who walk around trying to sell you something. They're a bit aggressive. With me looking like them, they beelined for me the two times we sat there near the entrance. So I suggest sitting inside away from that because they can't come in. There is this little cute table that we sat at that is on the edge of the inside but the window is a roll up window giving you access to the outside patio. That is where the can still get to you but can't come all the way in....except this one lady. She stepped all the way in....i was shocked. And got aggressive with me when I told her no thank you. The trick?...they told me "I'm beautiful" "like your natural hair..." and since they liked me, they said "I give to you..." and handed me two bracelets and a fan. I said no thank you and she kept shouting "excuse me...I give to you..." I set them on the table and she gave me the son story of being pregnant and since she give to me, I should give to her for the gift. I said no one final time and she snatched everything off the table and left...FINALLY. Ugh. So not sure if the restaurant can do more but they need to.
