    Florence, view from my table
    Jim B.

Well the view and ambience is 6 stars if you get an outside table in the sun like I did this early Feb day. Food was okay. You come here for the view , not the food. And I would do it again. Wait staff is attentive snd friendly. Bit steep on the price but again, well worth it for the location.

Great ambiance due to its proximity to Il Duomo (Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore). Wait staff helpful and friendly. Stopped by for coffee and their broad selection of pastries. Sit down here and watch the other tourists go by while you have your gelato or coffee.

Fantastic ending of an excellent day! We sat outside directly under a heater (much needed) so that we had a view of the Baptistry of John and the Santa Maria del Fiore Cathedral. The wait staff was attentive, yet not overbearing. The food was absolutely to die for. We love Italian food, but after 4 days of pasta, some meat and potatoes was called for. The Fiorentine steak did not disappoint. It makes the top 5 steaks of all time for me. At over 2.5 lbs it was more than enough to split with my wife. Actually another person could have shared it! The meat was tender and well seasoned. The antipasti was also incredible. But the tiramisu was just average. All in all, a great meal with an unparalleled view for a reasonable price. If we come back to Florence, this will warrant a repeat visit!

Exceptional service, friendly atmosphere, elegant yet affordable- quality food with a beautiful view of El Duomo. The steak for two with roasted potatoes is outstanding - a must! Highly recommend!

We visited here in July 2023, and this place was super memorable. The location is the best part. Sitting outside, drinking an Aperol Spritz, and enjoying the view is what a trip to Italy is all about! The food was incredible! The bruschetta and the ravioli stuffed with burrata were our favorite things on the menu. The inside of the restaurant is really nice, classy, welcoming and clean, and the dessert display is just drool worthy. The service was great. They rearranged a few chairs for us so our family of 6 could sit together comfortably. Drinks and food came out in a timely manner. Prices of food and drinks were great given the quality of the food and the location! The family at AtlasAdventured highly recommends Il Bottegone to anyone visiting Florence!

Delicious fresh and outside seatingz so is perfect. We stopped in before our tour and enjoyed their delicious gelato and a glass of champagne. The gentleman next to us ordered lasagne and he said it was the best he has ever had. It was served piping hot and the smell was amazing. The gelato was 8,00 for two scoops. Which from what Im seeing is pretty good. Great place to relax and people watch as well!

Went here a couple of times for espresso and wasn't that impressed with the service. The service here is a bit in the harsh side. If you get a table outside, be prepared to wait even longer to get served. And you can only sit in certain areas if you are only having drinks--not nice. They have lots of different delicious looking pastries here. The espresso at the counter is cheaper, and it tastes pretty good.

We had dinner here and I found the food lacking flavor and overpriced. We also experienced quite a bit of panhandling while eating our dinner outside. The service was mediocre and definitely not on par with the level of prices being charged.

Had lunch here and didn't think it was anything spectacular. We sat outside, but not on the side that had a view of the cathedral. We had 5 people beg for money from us during our meal. This is no fault of the restaurant, but sadly it is something you have to consider when you are trying to enjoy a meal with your family. As for the food itself, I ordered the fettuccini with mushrooms and thought it was boring.I also had the bruschette with artichokes which I would rate about the same. Had a taste of the spaghetti carbonara which was better than my dish but didn't whoo me by any means. I would probably skip this restaurant should I happen to return to the area again.

Good location next to Duomo but not worth it since we were treated so poorly by the staff. There was no one at the counter when we walked in and we tried to order but they would not look our way. Then was rude when I tried to order and proceeded to talk poorly about us to other customers in line. On top of that the croissant was also very bad so definitely not worth it. Go somewhere else there's plenty of better ones nearby!

This place is 2 stories with lots of seating and wifi. The food is brightly displayed cafeteria style but we only had dessert. I had an affogato which was ok and my friends gelato a little icy. Beware!! This was the place my friends bag was stolen when we werent looking so always stay close to your stuff in italy!

We ordered the 2.6 lb dry aged Florentine steak and gnocchi. The Florentine steak is a must try steak here. It was very juicy, tender, and it was bursting with flavor. The meat was nice and chewy. The steak was gigantic and it is bigger than my head. They first bring out the raw steak and weight it in front of you. The steak is enough to share for three people. The gnocchi was also very delicious. It was cheesy and rich. It was also in a way creamy and the cheese just melted in your mouth. One of the best things I've ever put in my mouth and eaten. The cheesecake is very famous in this restaurant. We tried it and understand why. The cheesecake was super creamy and soft. I had a great time and experience here. Definitely will be back sometime soon hopefully. This is a place I highly recommend to everyone. Come and try it out for yourselves.

He was awesome and had us laughing the entire night. We peppered him with a lot of questions about the menu, he answered everything and also accommodated my father-in-law, who is GF. For app I had the anchovies with roasted red pepper, sea salt and oil over grilled crostini, very good. I skipped first course and ordered the ribeye steak for my main course. Bone in, medium rare, sprinkled with sea salt and a side of onion marmalade. The steak was very good and had way less fat than I expected. The waiter suggested a huge steak for the table, but I was the only one ordering steak that night. Maybe next time. Others ordered the fillet and it was cooked perfectly, the angels and demons gnocchi, and the veal scallopini. Everybody was pleased Really cool spot with a very good wine selection, drinks, excellent food and a fun atmosphere that you don't find at many places. Nugo was an A+ server.

The atmosphere alone is worth a visit, but the food is what truly makes it exceptional. We ordered the ravioli, pappardelle with wild boar ragù, the Florentine steak, a mixed salad, affogato, and fresh strawberries with mascarpone cream. To drink, we shared a small carafe of red wine and a Pinot Grigio. Everything was spectacular. The Florentine steak was easily the best--and largest--I have ever had. Perfectly cooked, incredibly flavorful, and remarkably tender, it was the highlight of an already outstanding meal. The pappardelle with boar ragù was rich, hearty, and deeply satisfying, while the ravioli was beautifully prepared and full of flavor. Every dish felt authentic, carefully executed, and memorable. The wine was another pleasant surprise. Both selections were excellent and very reasonably priced, making the meal feel like an even better value. Our waiter was friendly, attentive, and incredibly helpful. He patiently answered questions, explained the menu, and guided us toward some fantastic choices. Although we thought we were too full for dessert, we're very glad we changed our minds. The affogato was fantastic, and the strawberries with mascarpone cream were absolutely delicious. One of the highlights of the evening was watching our four-year-old happily clutching two spoons and enthusiastically scooping fresh strawberries and mascarpone into his mouth. It was one of those memorable family travel moments that you don't forget. A terrific meal, a unique historic setting, excellent service, and a wonderful atmosphere. This was one of our favorite dining experiences in Florence, and I highly recommend it.

I went to the internet for the best Florentine steak and Trattoria Mario consistently popped up as highly rated. I reached out to the restaurant via email to make a reservation for a Friday. I wanted to get the earliest reservation possible, so the restaurant reserved me for 7:30pm, which was when they open. I was advised to show up on time - even a 2 minute delay would make me miss my reservation. I can see why Trattoria Mario was strict on reservations. They open on the dot, and then a staff member calls out each reservation at 7:30pm like a roll call. Seemed to me that if you don't have a reservation then you're out of luck, because there was no waitlist and the restaurant small and space was limited. Service was great. Our waitress was highly attentive and got us in/out of the restaurant quickly, which was what we were going for. Food came out in a timely manner. We ordered the penne al ragu, salad misto, and a Florentine steak to share. The penne was perfectly al dente, and I liked the meat sauce. I did find the pasta sauce salty, but it could've came from the grated parmesan. The saltiness was not a fluke. The Florentine steak was just pure beef and a ton of salt... too much salt for my liking. I also decided that I'm not a fan of Florentine steak in general.

Am I the only one that thought steak florentine was supposed to be served this way? Maybe that's was my mistake but I thought that's how it was prepared in Florence. Anyways, I was immediately suspicious when our waitress asked how we would like our steak cooked and her suggestions were medium or medium well. Uhhhh what? That goes against everything I believe in! The steak came out on a hot stone slab on top of a wooden box. The slab obviously continued to cook the steak so I immediately took off a few pieces to prevent this. The steak was thick and tender with chunks of large salt grains. It looked nice all sliced up but that's where the compliments end. It lacked flavor and ended up cooking to be more medium rare when I grabbed my pieces and then even medium by the time my dad grabbed his second slice. Our waitress seemed annoyed when we asked for the truffle sauce to accompany our steak (my dad forgot to ask for it when we placed our original order) and walked away with a huff to go grab it. The fries came out cold and limp with flavorless truffle shavings on top. I'm not sure why this place has such great reviews. Maybe it got too big for its britches and the quality has declined? The one saving grace was the crema bruciata! And the very understanding hostess who gladly pushed our reservation from 7:30 to 8:00pm due to travel difficulties. Whatever the reason, this place definitely missed the mark. You can't walk three steps without seeing a steakhouse here in Florence. My recommendation? Try one of those.
