I recently met a SGT in Vilseck who suggested me and my friends try his uncles Soul Food…read morerestaurant. Me being a guy from the South (Atlanta, Ga), I was all for it. The restaurant is literally walking distance from Vilseck Train Station (5 mins.) & about 15 mins from Post. Be prepared for a long wait regardless of the amount of people who are there because the owner, Angelo, is also the cook. There's also one waiter but due to the hours that the restaurant is open (usually 6-11pm) it's never really busy(At least not the 3-4 times I've been).
On this particular visit it was a Sunday evening. I ordered fried chicken, french fries and macaroni & chesee. Odd combination, but it was what I was craving at that particular time. With it being 4 of us as well as a table who ordered before us our wait was about an hr. Not good if you're extremely hungry or have little to no patience. After waiting our food was eventually brought out. Everyone's food was hot and fresh which makes the wait worth it.
The moment we had been waiting for, after one bite there was complete silence. No one had any complaints. The chicken was cooked just right and it made you feel back home in your mother's kitchen. Everything was seasoned with love. Even the fries. From the food to the drink, everything (IMO) was phenomenal. With a little hot sauce the meal was complete and finished to the point of full. The wait was worth it but like I said if you're very hungry you might not have that patience. I recommend to anyone who loves soul food or food period. Angelos never disappoints as long as you're willing to wait.
