I have been to many of the adult programs and they are informative; and when there are crafts involved I get to learn hands on a new craft. The library is always clean and everything put away. It is a kids' modest science center with a big dose of history about the local county. I guess it's possible they have his papers somewhere but approximately 5 percent of the public museum is about him. I hate to be negative about museums but I was truly shocked. It costs $17 to get in which makes me think that hey are struggling but who knows. Worst presidential site I have been to. Go to the Garfield site- much better. (They do have a nice fake dinosaur.)

It is not open during the winter, but visitors are able to climb the stairs up to the mausoleum. The view from the top looks over trees to the river. Halfway up the stairs there is a large statue of McKinley. There is plenty of parking. This is a short drive from the Pro football Hall of Fame so if you are in the area it is worth a short stop to pay respects to William McKinley our 25th President.

Kent is a wonderful place, a tiny little underrated and yet infamous Ohio town which is full of life, particularly from the large college student population. This NE OH destination has come a long way since the days of the University uprisings, and is , but still one of my fave towns in Ohio. There are several good bubble tea shops here and places to eat, and lots of little gems to be unearthed around the town. It also has some of the cheapest petrol anywhere in the North East USA. Also a shout out to my friends Amber and Matt that live around here, which is the reason I'm here so often.

My four year old and I enjoyed the little train and touring the historic home. The docents were very friendly and knowledgeable. I had no idea Hoover had a plant in the UK- the volunteer told us that people in England still call their vacuums "Hoovers". Oddly enough, I was listening to an audiobook after we left, and the British author referenced the Hoover in the next chapter that very day. Weird, right? The grounds and gardens here are quite lovely. We walked back to the event space where a lecturer was speaking about the history of North Canton. It was quite warm inside that space, so we quickly left, but my son found the playground and all was good in the world.

Not far from the Goodyear world headquarters, this marker points out the history of the man who…read morefounded the company and is laid to rest not far away in Glendale Cemetery. The marker has the same text on both sides. It reads, "Industrialist and entrepreneur Franklin Augustus Seiberling (1859-1955) named his fledgling rubber goods manufacturing company "Goodyear" to honor Charles Goodyear, the man who invented the vulcanization process for curing rubber. Seiberling founded the company with his brother, Charles Willard, because of their desire to participate in an enterprise that afforded an "opportunity for invention." Incorporated in 1898, Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company rapidly grew with the young automotive industry and helped establish Akron as the "Rubber Capital of the World." Among Seiberling's many significant inventions were the tire-making machine and the detachable wheel rim. He resigned from Goodyear in 1921 and went on to found the Seiberling Rubber Company. Stan Hywet Hall, F.A. Seiberling's estate in west Akron, is a National Historic Landmark." This is marker number 23-77. It was erected in 2003 by The Ohio Bicentennial Commission, Stan Hywet Hall and Gardens, Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company, and The Ohio Historical Society.
