Situated in the tiny seaside town of Tenby, the prices in this place are so criminally low that you wonder how the polite, friendly staff make a profit. There were many different options to choose from, all bargains and a good mix of UK-inspired dishes and more traditional fare. Well better than all this Twilight nonsense 'the kids' are into these days. The dips were divine, and as far as extras go the peshwari naan was just as delicious as a bit on the side should be. Meat-eaters were more than happy with their choices, but if you're a mild kind of child, don't opt for anything around the medium spectrum because it'll take your tastebuds clean off. The water flowed freely and they kept our BYOB drinks nice and cool. For a dinky place, it functions exceptionally well and I was more than impressed. Bokhara was indeed voted Welsh Curry Restaurant 2009 and its website suggests one food critic rated it as one of the top ten in the UK. Driving out there doesn't feel like your going to an Indian as you come down the drive way up to the manor house. Yet the actual restaurant doesn't feel at all pretentious. Its Indian and Mediterranean so if someone in the group is adverse to the spice there is lot of other choice, especially fish. I went expecting a restaurant in a manor to cost an arm and leg and it really wasn't. In fact it was about the same price as our local, only even better taste. The chicken was so tender and the spices were so delicate and flavoursome. We went on a Saturday but apparently there is all you can eat buffet during the week so I might be checking that out very soon.

They were not wrong - its rare for me to be on my own when I stay away - usually I have a customer to entertain at night but this time just me. I asked for a table at the back - out of the way so I could read my paper whist I ate. Within a few seconds a selection of dips and a fresh papad was delivered to the table - with a little comment of "on the house sir". I didn't think I would ever find an Indian restaurant that still did that. I didn't bother with a starter but did have a goan chicken curry which was similar to madras -not quite hot enough for me but that's a preference not a complaint. Paired with keema rice, dhall and roti it made for a very nice meal - good portion size and very good quality and service. A couple of pints and an Irish coffee , all for £29.00 I didn't think was bad. Its not a huge place - probably about 40 covers so you might struggle at weekends without a booking. The guys working the night I was there were good fun and obviously trying to make sure you enjoyed the visit. I expect to be here again in the future.
