After going to State Farm, All State, and a few other major places for homeowner's quotes, I decided to look up a broker and gave him a call. He got me insured through Metlife for a lot less than State Farm quoted me. We also switched our auto insurance over when he gave us a quote through Safeco that was half as much as we were paying with State Farm (he says Safeco is one of the cheapest major insurer in Chicago). Outside of the great rates he finds as a result of being a broker, his service is excellent. He's in Berwyn but I've never needed to go to his office. He's very on top of e-mail and on the phone and follows up on things... He gets me what I need when I need, makes good suggestions, etc.

I was a customer of Jake's for almost 30 years and don't know why the service has gotten so bad the…read morelast six months, I had to change agents just to get minor things done. After the hurricane last year had to bring the same paperwork in several times because they lost it, happens. Then called in February that we were going to sell our house in March, called again day of closing to cancel and forward the refund to our new house and change the address for our cars. Waited over 30 days called again about the refund and change of address neither done. Bought a new truck in May 2018 called Jake and gave all the information of what we bought and sold, no problem, they still had not done the address change or refund for the house insurance. I don't get anything in the mail for 14 days called again, they had no information about the truck we bought, and when asked about the refund on our house that was sold 70 days earlier, now they need prove which I took up to their office. This time they got the policy right but sent it to our old house address, which means again they had not done the address change or refund request. The final straw was I called and everyone was busy but would call me back, I waited 2 full business days and then called again to move agents because could not get service or phone calls returns. When asked about the paperwork they needed for the house refund, still was sitting there for over 3 weeks and still no address chance. Got a call back within the hour from the person I have worked with for over 25 years asking to not move agents, by this point my mind was made up, she assure me that they would still send in the refund for our sold house. Today over a week later got a call from the new State Farm agent, they got our policy's and you guess it the paperwork that Jake's office sat on, they never followed though and sent it to the new agent. So to recap, in 90 days, no call backs, almost went over the state of Florida 15 days to insure a truck, no change of address, no refund and had to go in 3 times and still could not get things done.
