Forget "sandwiches", this place makes sandwizes because the guy that runs this place is a wizard!…read moreHe knows his flavours, he knows his breads (which he collects at 4AM every morning), and him and his staff go above and beyond to look after the customer. We drove past this place one afternoon and the wife and I knew we had to eat here. We found street parking and made our way over. From the outside the red neon sign gave a very strong impression. Inside it was a little bit dull but that doesn't matter when you start to read the menu board. All the menu items suggest bold American flavours. Choose your filling, bread (sourdough or rye) and whether you want it fresh or toasted. I was worried about my sandwich being toast until I was told that they'd add the lettuce afterwards to prevent it from wilting. The food came out quick. My wife asked for soy milk in her coffee which they had run out of. However one of the staff went to the corner store, JUST FOR US, to buy a new carton. I was amazed by this. This truly was a selfless act and to me it defined what great customer service is. Our food came out quickly and tasted amazing. I ordered the hoagie sandwich. I know in The States a hoagie is this massive bread roll sandwich thing, but this being Australia they brought out a toasted sandwich which tasted just like a hoagie. Perfect down to the last bite. The staff are great company and extremely friendly. I want... nay, NEED to come back here to try some of the other sandwiches. A great place for a meal which isn't too heavy but will leave you thoroughly satisfied.

No one's throwing around the word 'pâtisserie' here. It's what you see on the sign - HOT BREAD. This place is busy on the weekend, but the service is quick. The best thing you can do on the weekend is come in early on Saturday or Sunday and buy a big bunch of their sandwich rolls - they'll still be hot. Of course you can get all your other bread-related products (loafs, etc), but I go for the rolls every time. My favourites are the hot chicken rolls (made on the spot, Vietnamese style) and the vanilla slice (with passion-fruit icing). The lamingtons are quite respectable too.

I find it hard to walk past and not stop in to grab one of Sydney's best pies and sausage rolls. It's always hard to go past a freshly made pork roll too. My 4yo daughter just loves the pink doughnuts and it's always great to pick up a loaf of fresh bread as it's always soft in the middle with a fantastic crunchy crust, just how I like it. Plus it's always good to see Sunny and his staff, As he's always there give your friendly service and to have a chat. My doctor might disagree with me but I wish that they had delivery available as I could really go a pie (or two) and a cold drink now! Thank you Sunny, keep up the good work as I know you always do!

Sandwiches, sandwiches, SANDWICHES!!!…read more Like Joey from Friends, I love me some sandwiches. I believe this place opened less than a month ago, and I noticed it when I went to Single Origin one day and made a note to check it out. As its namesake states, this place is a simple sandwich shop. The interior is cozy, the people friendly, and the music sets the mood. Me gusta. The place is clean, straight to the point with natural and fresh ingredients, affordable (under $10!) and tasty to boot. They don't do sides except for the bread they serve during breakfast, and they also have salads if you don't want to have a sandwich. Let's be real here though, why would you go to The Sandwich Shop and not order a sandwich? Depending on the sandwich, you get to choose what kind of bread you'd like as well between rye, sourdough, and whole wheat. The sandwiches on tap are: Chicken Schnitzel The Sandwich Club Rare Roast Beef Tuna + White Bean Smoked Salmon Bagel The Original New York Reuben Pulled Pork The Ultimate Salad Sandwich You can also create your own sambo if you like. My friend and I ordered the Rare Roast Beef and The Original New York Reuben. If you like cheese, you will like the Rare Roast Beef. The Fontina Cheese used to top this was massive and flavourful. The roast beef could have been a bit more rare for my taste but it was still very good nonetheless. The Reuben...the reuben was great. I wouldn't call it the Original New York Reuben but that's not a bad thing. The Reuben served here was very high quality, as the beef is a thicker and juicier slice than you'd get with a New York Reuben. The cheese, sauerkraut and dressing were great as well. Definitely the best "Reuben" I've had in Sydney so far. If you like sandwiches you can't go wrong here. I'll have to come back to try the others.

It took me a long time to make a choice here but boy was I disappointed to find they delivered my "roasted sandwich" as a goddamn burger. That is always a toss up these days, cafes calling a burger a sandwich or a sandwich a burger. Whatever the case, that was the deciding factor for me. That aside, the location of this fast food option pre-movies is one of the better choices at Macquarie Park. Meaning one of the few non-Asian options. My partner ordered pretty much the whole menu as you'll see from the pictures and enjoyed the lot of it. I sort of just watched him eat whilst I tch-ed at my burger/sandwich. Oh well, at least it wasn't a rip off and I had some duck fat potatoes to munch on. Won't be making this sacrifice in the near future.

Firstly the downside is that its in Macquarie Centre. Unfortunately this place has grown 'too big' and parking somewhere remotely close and getting in is an effort. That aside its a great little store with seating that overlooks the ice skating rink. Their reuben isn't the traditional corned beef or pastrami but salted beef instead. Can't complain though - still tasted great and they sliced it nice and thickly right in front of me as they made it. Not the cheapest sandwich you'll buy - but they taste great and the servings are huge. I'll definitely be back again!
