Choose your filling, bread (sourdough or rye) and whether you want it fresh or toasted. I was worried about my sandwich being toast until I was told that they'd add the lettuce afterwards to prevent it from wilting. The food came out quick. My wife asked for soy milk in her coffee which they had run out of. However one of the staff went to the corner store, JUST FOR US, to buy a new carton. I was amazed by this. This truly was a selfless act and to me it defined what great customer service is. Our food came out quickly and tasted amazing. I ordered the hoagie sandwich. I know in The States a hoagie is this massive bread roll sandwich thing, but this being Australia they brought out a toasted sandwich which tasted just like a hoagie. Perfect down to the last bite. The staff are great company and extremely friendly. I want... nay, NEED to come back here to try some of the other sandwiches. The best thing you can do on the weekend is come in early on Saturday or Sunday and buy a big bunch of their sandwich rolls - they'll still be hot. Of course you can get all your other bread-related products (loafs, etc), but I go for the rolls every time. My favourites are the hot chicken rolls (made on the spot, Vietnamese style) and the vanilla slice (with passion-fruit icing). The lamingtons are quite respectable too.

They don't do sides except for the bread they serve during breakfast, and they also have salads if you don't want to have a sandwich. Let's be real here though, why would you go to The Sandwich Shop and not order a sandwich? Depending on the sandwich, you get to choose what kind of bread you'd like as well between rye, sourdough, and whole wheat. The Reuben served here was very high quality, as the beef is a thicker and juicier slice than you'd get with a New York Reuben. The cheese, sauerkraut and dressing were great as well. That aside its a great little store with seating that overlooks the ice skating rink. Their reuben isn't the traditional corned beef or pastrami but salted beef instead. Can't complain though - still tasted great and they sliced it nice and thickly right in front of me as they made it. Now they are stored in a can, but don't worry, they do transport them to a glass for you, so no cutting your lips on a jagged can here. We had the Can-Hattan and the Mar-tinny. The martini was delicious and had the perfect amount of olive flavor. My husband had the Can-Hattan and he loved the sweet vermouth they used. I had a sip of his and YUM!
