Fully fenced with a double gated entry, it's a great open grassy space with a section of trees and shrubs. The walking area is mowed, with a row of light posts down the centre of the park. Lots of benches around the perimeter and it's fairly level landscape make it accessible. There is no paved path IN the off-leash area though, so if you have wheels you will need to come when it's dry and firm. Outside the park is an extensive network of wide asphalt paths for walking and wheeling. Bone & Biscuit sponsors this park and there is lighting as well as several dog bag dispensers at locations near each entrance to the park if you forget yours. I always need an extra or two to pick up the stray poops and some garbage to pick up we find while in the park. Busy park - lots of folks, families and dogs but didn't feel at all crowded. The pup had a great run playing with the other dogs. A great stop for us when we are in the area.

The pond with its low banks allow the dogs to jump in and cool off or chase their favourite toy or a stick. There are plenty of garbage bins and poop bag stations, no excuse to pick up after your dog. Fresh air, benches, big area, friendly people. We love it and look forward to be coming here often. There is plenty of parking available. The dog park is located at 54310 - RR231, just off of Pointe Aux Pins Road and adjacent to the Dow Centennial Fields.

Tonight I sat way too long in the lineup at Peter's, so naturally I thought of this location on my way home. It was super windy and quite chilly tonight. I debated just looking at the lake from the vehicle but I wanted to see what birds were out there. So I had a fast eating kind of picnic while watching the geese at the lake, checked out the playground to see if it's worth bringing the nephews and nieces (definitely cool!) and just enjoyed watching the sun set from different angles. It's a large park with the road dividing the off leash area from where the playground is. Trees look to be the boundary to the gold course further back in the park. TONS of parking, at least 5 separate playgrounds including - toddler playground, big kid playground, rock wall/climbing and rope course play ground, HUGE spray park, and a freaking monkey bars playground... that's right, I said a monkey bars playground with more than 20 different types/styles of monkey bars. This park is INSANE - if you haven't been here, you NEED to come. Get up, right now and go! So pray tell, why am I only giving 4 stars rather than 5 stars? Well... Okay, compared to my family's personal have spray park, this park does not offer concessions, is not staffed during all open hours, and has a lake that little ones could run off to quickly and possibly get wet or be in a dangerous situation. So... If coming here with only big kids that you trust not to go in the lake or run out in the parking lot, then this park may become your very favourite. If you are like me with two kids under 6, this park requires a 1:1 ratio of adults to children to be certain of safety. I will most definitely be coming back here again and again and again!

They have 2 sections: the main section and the small dogs section. When we attended most dogs were in the main section but there was one or two dogs in the small dog area. It is nice to have that because sometimes bringing a small dog to a dog park can be quite stressful for their owners. The added sense of safety is a nice thing to have. Both sections have some dog agility equipment but the main section has more stuff and larger pieces. It isn't a huge park but it is a great neighbourhood amenity for those people in the area. Once this neighbourhood is built out it will be interesting to see how popular the park is.

I sooooooo appreciate Pet Valu donating the free dog poop bags. I just wish more of the owners would be responsible and clean up after their dogs. The bags are free and there's garbage bins located around the park... I just don't get why people can't clean up after their pets. It's not everyone... but just like all good things, they're normally ruined by just a few bad. I will keep bringing my little dog here to burn off his energy as long as it's an option.

I do go when it's a little quieter as my girl does like to play but can be reactive and dominate. There unfortunately, isn't a lot of availability and cost of private ones. She is more reactive on leash than without. It does have a little yard of agility equipment-- do be careful and look for sharp edges as some of it is left over wood and scrap metal. A lot of it is also kinda high. But my girl likes the smaller hoops and the tunnel. A-frame is too steep and high.

The Lions Centennial Park is without a doubt one of the jewels of this small community. The town…read moredoes a fabulous job of maintaining the area and there are tons of garbage cans around that must help with the reduction of littering as it was very rare that I ever saw any trash while walking the path around the water. You are within walking distance of several fast food locations so it's very easy to grab some food and bring it over for a picnic. There was not an abundance of tables that I noticed but ample green space to lay down a blanket. The town also added a splash park which was great to see as I know they spent a long time locally fundraising to be able to put that together. If your commuting through Ponoka and need to stop to stretch your legs this is a great place to do so and enjoy the peace that comes from a beautiful outdoor environment.
