    The Barn Theater

The Barn Theatre is a wonderful place to take in a top rated show. There's not a bad seat in the house...er Barn! The production of Disaster was excellent! A spoof on the disaster themed movies of the seventies featuring great disco and Motown music of the era. Had a fun time playing name that tune with my wife and then waiting to see how the lyrics fit into the show! Tons of laughs! The list of show for the 2019 season is impressive. Sweeney Todd, Steel Magnolias, Big, & Mama Mia to name a few. Will definitely be back!

We have driven past this area for the past few years but never really knew what it was. We were excited when we won the Yelp contest for we will rock you. This would be our chance to discover something new in town. The area is well kept and it's so green. The rehearsal shed was also a great place to chill before the show starts. I was kinda skeptical that the barn theatre would be hot inside but it was cool. So glad that the weather was less humid and hot on Saturday. The performance was spectacular. My husband was so excited since it was his first time to go to a theatre show. He is thrilled to be back for the rent show. Thank you, Yelp and the barn theatre for giving us a great Saturday night with an amazing show.

Awesome venue. This rustic, historic site has rolling green fields of grass (doubles as the parking lot!), a lounge/bar/ice cream shack, a few other buildings, and the main attraction: a giant old barn theater. My party of four drove a few hours to get to the theater to see Avenue Q. It was a hot day and an equally hot drive with no a/c, and by the time we got there we were ready to relax and laugh. We were all excited and kind of in awe of this giant barn when we arrived. Parking guys flagged us into our spot on the grass out front and we approached the barn to pick up our tix. There was a line to get in, but luckily, the barn was air conditioned and it felt nice and cool in there. Seating was a bit tight, but that's to be expected for an old theater. The performance was great. Quality performers, sound, lighting, etc. Restrooms are located outside the building and they have both rustic (outhouses - not sure if they're functional or just a joke) and those for 'city folk' (indoor plumbing). Very cool place. I'd definitely return for a show during their summer-only running time.

    The inside was amazing!

This little gem is amazing! I never thought Evil Dead would be a musical, nor did i think i would ever get to see it live, but now i have! Tickets were reasonable, seats were old school theatre seats, great views from every one. the acoustics were surprisingly awesome in such an old and interesting space. i would def come back here for another viewing of anything anytime! Suggestion: if you are planning on the bar after the show on site, book ahead! they fill up FAST! The line after the show was very LONG and we couldnt get a reservation before hand. Also, the bathrooms are limited so go when you can.

Come to the Rehearsal Shed before or after the show for drinks and munchies!

The Barn Theatre is great entertainment in a very unique setting - literally an old barn! Going here is a great way to support equity actors, many of whom are just getting their start, and it's something that I think most folks would enjoy - esp. if visiting the area and looking for something uniquely West Michigan. Make sure you get tickets midway to the front or closer, though, as the sound system isn't the best for those sitting in the back.

Bar show following the mainstage performances is a must-see!

This place is such a treasure, both for patrons and for the summer stockers who get the opportunity to earn their equity stripes sharing the stage with some big names (like Guiding Light alum Robert Newman, who himself earned his equity card at the Barn and is once again guest starring this season in shows including "Hunchback of Notre Dame," which opened last night and runs through June 25 and "Lion in Winter," in which he'll co-star with fellow Barn bigwig Kim Zimmer July 25 - Aug. 6). It never ceases to amaze me the paces the apprentices get put through here. When you pull into the grass parking lot, they're the ones who guide your cars into the correct spot, they pour drinks and serve snacks in the bar area before and after the show, perform in the plays and musicals, and then they zip over to the bar area afterward to entertain guests with a three-set bar show full of entertaining choreography, great lighting, costume changes and more. The amount of rehearsal that must go in to pulling off the main stage and bar stage performances must be exhausting, too. They always knock it out of the park. I can't recall being more excited for a Barn season ... the 2017 lineup is almost exclusively shows that are new to the Barn (plus a repeat staging of one of my favorite musicals, "Rent," which was composed by Barn alum Jonathan Larson.) Should be an exciting year.

Summer theater season! Just saw HAIR! If you get a chance to see anything at the Barn Theater you will enjoy it. Very engaging venue and excellent casting. The Bar Show afterwards is a must! Get to the show early and reserve a seat! You won't be disappointed!

My first and not my last.

Great theatre to watch performances like Beauty and the beast. Worth the money. Will differently go again.

I just had my first experience at the rehearsal shed, which was a nice added bonus to see a fun encore performance.

Featured events are: an annual Easter Egg Hunt complete with the Easter Bunny, Buccaneer Bash, SteamDream Expo, BlackRock Medieval Fest, Frontier Days, Music Festivals and the ever popular Haunted Hallows! We had the pleasure to attend the 2018 BlackRock Medieval Fest for the first time this summer! On a secluded 35 acres - you begin your adventure by turning onto a long winding drive (seems kind of sketchy at first) that takes you deep in the woods and opens back up to a huge field that is used for parking. As you walk up to the gate at BlackRock Medieval Fest you are greeted with smiles and the "no outside food or drink allowed inside" sign. Once inside you can enjoy live entertainment: live jousting, live action steel combat, 6 stages of entertainment, and live music. You can also enjoy fresh food and cold beverages (Including BEER!) that will quench your thirst and fill your belly. If it's shopping you like - lots of vendors are available with a wide variety of items for purchase from clothing to goblets. So many things to do and see but never enough time! General admission is only $10 at the gate, and children 12 & under are free! Overall: A solid 5 stars - the perfect destination to go and get a glimpse of a time gone bye.

Tucked back in the woods just outside of Augusta, my first impression (3 years ago) upon turning onto the long winding entrance drive , was that this would be the perfect start to a cheesy slasher flick. Directional signs that appeared to be handwritten added to the effect. So to say I had low expectations for the experience would be spot on. Happy to say I was totally wrong! Fast forward to the present. I was excited to return to the Blackrock fest after my previous visit. And I wasn't disappointed. The way that Olde World Village is setup makes the entire Blackrock experience so much better. Everything just flows together and is easily accessible. I love how each show has it's own stage or area so that multiple acts can be simultaneously run without interrupting each other. Gives the visitor more bang for their buck. Plenty of easy parking. Easily accessible porta-johns. It is dirt/gravel parking so don't wear your best shoes. This location is perfect for historical simulations. I believe they also have a pioneer festival, and a pirate fest or steampunk fest at various times also. You should check out at least one of them!

Their support was critical not only on the day of our wedding but also in the weeks leading up to it. Throughout every step of the process, Mike offered helpful insights based on his experience to ensure the reception of our dreams became a reality. On the day of our wedding, they were so critical to making sure everything went smoothly. From setting up the microphone and speakers for the ceremony (in a grassy field a couple hundred feet from the venue's electric outlets!!) to making sure dinner, speeches, games, and dancing went on without a hitch. They did so much more than what you would traditionally expect from a DJ!! When it was finally time to bust a move on the dance floor, they managed everything masterfully, balancing my many requests with reading the mood of the room and negotiating guest requests. The lights they used on the dance floor created an amazing ambiance. We got tons of compliments on their excellent work, and the dance floor was packed until the very last song. In particular, one thing I appreciated was how strongly Mike prioritized our wishes first and foremost. Though we didn't have any issues with pushy or demanding guests, he made it clear that he would be an advocate for us and defend whatever we asked for. Meaning, for example, if we said we didn't want country music played, he wouldn't play it even if a drunk guest demanded it. I was able to trust in his team completely and felt so cared for by the service they provided my husband and I. We knew the entire time that they were on our side and would do whatever they could to support us. Overall, I can't thank Mike & James enough for everything they did to make our special day a success. You guys are the best, and I'll recommend you to all of my engaged friends!!
