Their book selection last time I checked, wasn't the greatest, but for €1 (all books go for that price!) you can pick up some fiction you've probably never heard of before, and if you don't like the first chapters, you at least didn't really loose any money. If you feel like you can freshen up the selection, box your unwanted books and bring them over. They have a sign in the window now which reads that donations are urgently needed. The added incentive: you're supporting a good cause.

St Vincent de Paul helps these families out in whatever way they can. The Vincent's shop in Dundrum is not one I shop in at all but I have donated bags of clothes to them regularly over the years. I think most people in Dundrum would be more familiar with the name "Fred's Fashions" for this store and probably still call it that. It makes more sense now for it to be called Vincent's though, they have now grown into a chain store around the country, great to see it doing so well, it needs peoples support to keep it going though!

As…read moreCiara has mentioned, Vincent's is a charity that aims to tackle poverty in Ireland and to raise funds to support their services, they run shops around Ireland selling various second-hand goods. Charity shops can't stay in business unless kind-hearted people are willing to take a few extra steps and give away clothes or cutlery they've stopped using instead of throwing the unwanted stuff in the bin. Take a look in your garage, wardrobe and bookshelves. I'm sure you'll find pants and skirts you know you will never wear again, books you want others to enjoy or even unused presents from old aunts you never felt good about throwing out but take up lots of space in the closet. Now's your chance to give them away and feel good about it!
