Great B&N! It's huge and has a great selection of new books. Store was very tidy and checkout was very quick.

Overpriced book. The rudest employees you'll ever meet. Non accurate website. There needs to be some major changes to Barnes and Nobles policies and pricing before I ever consider buying from them again. The member system barely saves you any money. If you use Barnes and Nobles to find new books to read, don't buy them from the store, buy them from amazon or other cheaper online sellers. Some people may not care about paying extra to buy from Barnes and Noble, but I'm not one of those people. I once asked about price matching and the employee looked at me like I was dumb. I mean the sales people and cashiers here are the absolute WORST I've ever been around at any business! Seriously, take your business elsewhere, it's not worth it. read more

A very nice B&N Bookstore right off the interstate in Champaign, IL. I stopped in for some reading material to help me fall asleep while on the road this week. Reading has a very therapeutic effect on me - it really helps me fall asleep faster. Picked up several magazines - two on model train railroading, the latest issue of Scifi magazine, a couple of Foxtrot cartoon collections, and a Dilbert book. read more

Interesting, no reviews lately - why? Anyway, have been going here for awhile and really appreciate the kids section (train table!), the magazines (photo / video / tech), and science fiction. Lots of other parts of the store I don't frequent so much but assume others do. I know they have to compete with ever-convenient online but I like to look at a book, and often am searching goodreads on my phone while looking at books they have there. They have music there but I used to like the listening stations ... B&N should partner with streaming services and offer listening options again. Anyway, I love the environment there, clean and friendly, cafe inside, etc. I could spend all day there and think a lot of people are missing out! Check-out counter folks are always friendly. I don't have much cafe experience. Suggestions to the owners: one thing I liked about Borders' were the PC stations where you could search for books. Also, would help if we could find out where books are in the store (besides the helpful staff). This was not always obvious as I found for books I sought that could be in self-help, health, psychology or parents' sections! Also some books are sorted alphabetically but also amid unlabeled groupings which made it all seem pretty random, so - more headings or cards-between-sections would be appreciated. Finally, those employee suggestion notes sprinkled through the store - more of that, please! This got me into Scalzi and many more purchases at the store. And, if it is legal and worth it, having bestseller lists (at least the B&N ones!) and such posted in the various sections would be helpful to steer me towards new authors. And if you want to be extra convenient, make checking out via employees (like done in Apple stores) an option some day! And for advertising, you should note that you have plenty of parking, benches where people can sit, a cafe, music and more. There is a lot to like here!! read more

I've been coming to this location since I was a kid. It's gone through a lot of changes -understandably with the introduction of Amazon and the like- the most recent being a heavy emphasis on visual novels, stationary/accessories, and toys. I like the selection of items they have in stock and it varies every few weeks to make browsing interesting. Overall it's pretty clean but the shelves seem to be in a constant disarray. The women's bathroom tends to have toilet paper placed ON the toilet instead of from the dispenser, and paper towels for drying your hands comes in a stack on the sink instead of from the paper towel dispenser. The baristas at the Starbucks cafe are either super nice and friendly or aren't. It's obvious when they're faking a nice attitude at the register and there's been a few times where the baristas are selective in who they offer samples to. It's a 50/50 chance when it comes to a welcoming atmosphere. read more

I haven't been a major chain bookstore in such a long time. My mom had a gift card and it was time to finally use it. I am actually rather pleasantly surprised with the visit. There were a number of good options in the clearance book section and plenty of other good scores throughout the store. Since it was after Christmas, there were a number of discounted Christmas items, as well. I had forgotten how diverse the item selection as Barnes & Noble is - books, trinkets, games, puzzles, etc. There is also a coffee shop if you need a quick fix or are planning to spend a bit of time in the store. Large comfortable building with a huge selection of reading materials to chose from, can't beat that. Free WiFi & a place to get coffee & something small to snack on. Great assortment of magazines, music, movies, toys, puzzles & other goodies. Could spent hours in there. My only complaint would be constantly bombarded with people asking for money right outside the doors. If they have a no solicit policy on their property, enforce it. If they don't have such a policy, get one & enforce it. 4 out of the last 5 times, my wife & I have been asked for money. How much money are they losing from people who stop shopping there because they get hassled for money right outside their doors? read more

This book store has friendly helpful staff. I stopped to pick up audio books for my drive back to Idaho. The same lady helped me my entire visit and was cheerful and sweet. The store is clean, well lit, organized. The bathrooms were clean and well maintained. I recommend Barnes and Noble contact the Starbucks Manager on their staff. There is a Starbucks in the same building which is convenient; however, the staff running the counter at Starbucks was doom and gloom and frankly rude and acted "put out" to take my order. I am a Starbucks gold card member and have ordered Starbucks coffee from Oregon to Kentucky..California to Illinois. I expect a smile and a "thank you" for your business, not what I got in Champaign Illinois Starbucks inside Barnes and Noble. Get your coffee somewhere else!!! read more

Each year I get at least $50-$100 in gift cards to Barnes & Noble. This bookstore has is all! Any kind of book you could possible need! If they don't have it in stock, the staff can order it for you. I personally like to buy the books and take then home the same day. They also have a Starbucks inside which is my favorite location out of all the Starbucks in the area. The staff their are very friendly and the atmosphere is calming. Barnes & Noble has a great kids selection, movie/cd section, and toy section for gift or brain teasers. The building is massive and I could spent hours in here! They use to keep chairs for you too read in but I haven't seen those in quite some time. Probably because some people can ready quickly. It only takes me maybe 30 minutes to read just 1 manga novel so I can understand that they would want you to buy the book as opposed to reading it and putting it back on the shelve! read more

I am retired so try not to buy New books, using my local Library to feed my reading habit , but I received a gift card at Christmas to BN- I have been a patron of them in the past and always found them well stocked and organized. The staff are generally knowledgeable and very helpful. They will order a book for you if need be! There is always a large selection of gift items as well . read more

The books, music and movies are over priced. The selection is good and so is their service as book sellers. I have had several issues at the cafe of not getting what I ordered and one instance of waiting for coffee for 15 minutes and after I went back to the counter then they realize they forgot to start brewing it. Some things to be aware of with B&N. This store is large enough and they have friendly enough people BUT those same friendly people can do nothing to help the customer and B&N has odd ways of doing business, which doesn't say much for them. They do consistently push you to pay for the pretty hefty membership plan. First of all: they would not let us use the 15% coupon that the company had sent me, on ANY of the books that we were purchasing. Second of all: I bought a $50 gift card and when that person went to use it B&N didn't have the books that they wanted, so the Barnes and Noble customer service person told them they had to order the books. Then they found out they had to pay about $15 for shipping the two books. Even though the books, came to more than the $25 and $35 B&N says that you need to spend to get free shipping to the store. According to their website $25 and over should have been free. Plus when you're using a gift card and you have to order the books because they don't carry them in the store (this is a series of popular books, not obscure ones), you shouldn't be punished and have to pay to ship the books to the store when they don't have them in the store. I couldn't understand this because they met the free shipping total and they were shipping to their own store not shipping to a home address. (Books have to be paid for before shipping either way). And third of all: I paid for all my books through PayPal and when I had to return one of them I was made to take a gift card! I didn't pay with a gift card, I paid with my bank, which is the same as cash. They wouldn't put it back on my PayPal which I requested. I was told I would have to send the books back at my expense to the company to have it put back on my PayPal. Seriously?? Last: I ordered a book (and it was free shipping to my home) that took over 2 weeks to get here. Now I personally will never shop at Barnes & Noble again. I will find another bookstore because I don't like the way B&N does business. I will be trying another online reputable book store because if I have to do all of that for an online/local store that carries little to nothing then I will gladly find another company. read more

Getting close to the summer months; while actually experiencing this gorgeous summer weather, made me want to grill and cookout. Something about the heat makes me wanna lean over a grill and grub- go figure. Anyhow, I was looking for recipes and new cook magazines; guys I am a fan in the stands for cooking magazines. Food Network and Food and Wine magazine- I love them all. Barnes & Noble always does the literary trick for me, they suck me in with their huge variety and keep me hooked via conditioned stimulus: Starbucks coffee and my ultimate favorite green tea latté; I love you so matcha. This Barnes & Noble is huge, it is the Mecca of bookstores I've seen thus far, and I was homeschooled; so I've seen lots of bookstores- what can I say, I like big books and I cannot lie. I loved the ambiance too, the barista was positive and spoke about her graduation, and was super friendly. The lady at the checkout counter spoke to me about their amazing Barnes & Noble membership and saving moolah. I'll definitely be back, I'm a bookworm at times, but I also appreciate a great business and brand. read more

For being such a big store they have a very limited selection. I never seem to be able to find the book I'm looking for, and it's not like they are unheard of books. When I find out that they don't have it in stock, they always offer to order it for me of course, but if that's the case then I would rather just get it cheaper on Amazon. Just so they know-- I'm willing to pay the full price if I can have the convenience of leaving with the book. I've told one employee helping me to find a book that I would just order it online at Amazon instead, and he gave me this lecture about how that would actually be more expensive with shipping... I'm a Prime member and I could get the book for 1/3 the price. I don't feel their cafe at this location is very good either. The red velvet cheesecake is dry, the stuffed pretzels aren't very stuffed, and I've had very poor coffee from here. To be honest, I would probably never go in there if I didn't have a choice. All the other bookstores in town closed. Still, as many times as I go in there hoping to be able to start reading a book that very night, I always seem to end up buying on Amazon instead. Just scanning over my bank statements I would venture to say that they lost out on $2000, over textbooks, eBooks, & just my regular reading. The Bourbonnais location is much better and I highly recommend it if you're in that area. read more

Trying hard to support you guys but..... The last few times I was in there, the shelves are more and more in disarray and the selection continues to be limited (outside of the ever increasing old discounted books upfront) but my last visit irritated me to the point to type this review. I ordered a book online to be picked up at the store to try and 1) support the store and 2) shop for something else while there. When I found my other item I went to the area marked "Online Pickup", after being there for 5 minutes I was told that it was upfront. I pointed to the sign and was told "yeah, we should change that." Now I've been in the store a few times this holiday season and always noticed the sign in the same area as today so.....a piece of paper on the front door is too hard? It would at least catch some coming in to go to the proper area. Love my books, want to love my bookstore too. read more

Its fun to go and browse. I love books - real books. I don't like that they always want me to become a member for $25. Otherwise its fun!
