I was ready for a new book to read after finishing the latest title by my favorite author on my lunch break. With a couple of Barnes & Noble gift cards in my wallet, I couldn't wait to pay a visit to the Greenbrier store after work. I really enjoy the peace I find while perusing the amazing book selection and variety of fun gifts at this bookstore. It's quiet, clean, and well organized. It's a happy place. After 2 leisurely hours, I found a new author, and I'm anxious to start her first book. Another reason I was anxious for 'my time' to shop for a new book at B&N is their 'Hot Coffee, Hot Book, Cafe Special Offer' deal! With the purchase of any cafe item, you can purchase a featured book for $5. This offer has limited quantities, and the book cover is so pretty and pink! It's titled 'The Vanishing Cherry Blossom Bookshop' by Takuya Asakura. The friendly cafe server said that the $5 cafe book offer for this book title ends soon, but another book will be coming. She believed their location has the offer every 2 months, but other locations might be every month. No worry, I'm hooked and I'll keep an eye out! So, I see another great cafe deal on select bakery items, BOGO 50% off. I chose a Reese's Peanut Butter Cup Cookie and an Oatmeal Raisin Cookie to go. After my new book purchase and cafe purchases, my first text to my adult children was a reminder that Mother's Day is coming up and that I'd love gift cards to Barnes & Noble! I stopped by this Barnes and Noble for a book tote bag. Parking is ample. The inside is huge and has amazing book displays. It is completely organized and everything flows very well. Staff is knowledgeable. I like the deals and sales they have. I found a really cool set of markers and erasers. I also enjoy the little descriptions by the staff on books and manga they recommend. I've never been to this actual store before, I always go to the one near Lynnhaven Mall, but truth be told I think I prefer this one in terms of how empty it felt. I felt like I had room to browse and take my time, I didn't feel over crowded with so many people just walking thru or stopping to talk loudly amongst themselves. The set up isn't the same as Lynnhaven but I found everything I was looking for easily. I do like that they also have a children's section here too. It's well stocked and my kiddos enjoy picking out books too. The only reason I gave it 4 is because the staff aren't the friendliest. The cashier checking me out had the strongest RBF, but when I shyly asked other questions about their rewards system he gave me very detailed answers. He didn't look friendly and I'm not sure he exactly wanted to be there either, but wasn't out right rude. While I could probably get a cheaper version on Amazon or elsewhere, I didn't want to wait for shipping and what not to get my newest trilogy. They do have a membership with tons of perks, but I don't think I'm that deep in my reading era where I can justify $40/year. read more

BUYER BEWARE.. Several years ago I used my credit card to purchase gift cards for my younger neighbors. Just recently (March 2025), while going over my credit card statement I found that Barnes and Nobles had charged over $25.00 for a membership renewal. I haven't been a member for over 10 years. I called my local B&N store and discovered they've been charging me for several years because I originally paid for that membership with my credit card. Really nice Barnes and Noble location with all of the fixings you'd expect from the mega-chain. It's got the standard sections of fiction, magazines, games, toys, gifts, kids stuff, etc. I came in to find a journal and there were several leather bound, high quality selections that you could choose from. They also carry the popular Moleskien line. Bonus - they had a whole section of clearance books and I was able to find several great gems in there as well. The check out was staffed appropriately given the amount of traffic coming through the store, so I didn't wait long in line to pay. If you aren't already, consider becoming one of their club rewards members -- you get free coupons and discounts frequently that make shopping in the brick and mortar store sometimes less expensive than Amazon or other online realtors. read more

There is nothing bad to say about this location. Neat, orderly and a super friendly staff. The coffee bar are is perfect to sit, relax and read. I live the fact that when you buy something you et a coupon for something great like a free cookie at the coffee bar. Magazine selection is awesome with benches so you can browser as necessary. Kids programs are schedule periodically so you need to check and see what's on the calendar. This is my happy place. I love the atmosphere. It's always clean, brightly lit, and everyone is so nice. While I was looking for books 2 different people asked if I needed any help or wanted suggestions. Everything is organized and they have a lot of specialty tables with book suggestions (like summer reading, thrillers, classics, etc). The cafe serves Starbucks and has free WiFi. Barnes & Noble has been around since 1886, which I think is pretty neat, and this location is a good one. Any notebook, journal, book, pretty much any other thing you can think of is here, but I believe you'll be dazzled with the trinkets and other items they have as well. It's a pleasant atmosphere, with a nice children's section. They have music, puzzles, art, it's definitely a mixed bag and well organized at that. I like me a local bookstore, but I have nothing to complain about here. read more

Today I encountered two very rude employees. I usually do not make reviews but it made me so uncomfortable. I come here all the time and to Barnes & Nobles all over the US. I go BN to catch up on work and get books but will not be returning to this location. First encounter- My boyfriend dropped his ID in an aisle while finding a book on the way to the seats in the cafe. He asked a heavy set woman, she asked for his name rolled her eyes instantly saying no. He asked another employee near by he instantly checked and brought the ID back... Second encounter- we then moved to the back seating towards the back of the store. A tall old man employee came out of the employee room as we were quietly working and reading. He scrunched his face up & rudely said " aren't you the two who were told not to come back.. (NEVER SAW THIS MAN) weird right? We felt so stereotyped and racially profiled. Then he goes saying to another employee extra loud "I gotta kick as many people out as I can" mind you it was 8:30 .. we just left without a scene .. will not be returning read more

First time at this location. It's near Greenbriar mall so it's in a pretty busy shopping center. The "coffee shop" area is larger than I expected, right at the entrance and nearby the Starbucks. The employees at the shop are very kind and know all the deals off the top of their head. It was a pretty peaceful area to have been so many people & they did not mind that we moved two tables together. The only downside is that there are no outlets available in this area. Not sure if that's on purpose, but where all the possible outlets would be are completely covered so who knows. read more

B&N is that store the whole family can go and enjoy. It's more than just a book store, it's a read a book and sip on some Starbucks on a rainy day type of thing. But again I can do that at Starbucks or at home, which is better especially if it's a good book so you won't get distracted by customers, the kids or any noise.. Oh.. Back to the review (that's my A.D.D kicking in lol). Anywhoo.. Speaking of Starbucks, yes they have Starbucks on premises and other deli item to purchase. There's a section in the back where kids can play and pretend they're performers on a little stage. There's also a music section where music lovers can get lost too. For cool gifts, you can find calendars, knick knacks, toys and more. I actually bought my nephew a Smithsonian Robot. My only suggestion is research how much the books and gifts you are going to purchase because it can be a little more expensive than other places. B&N is just a cool place to go and browse. read more

What can I say? I love books and I love Barnes and Noble. This location in particular is closest to me which is why I have over 30+ check ins. No judgements people I love to read. From the moment I walk in the ambiance carries me away. The smell of their cafe lures me to a cappuccino and their apple tart. Which is only found in Barnes and Noble cafes and they are worth the calories and $$$ I love this place, however, their bathroom needs to be updated and it's just not this location. I've been to plenty of B-Nobs (my nickname for Barnes & Noble) and all their bathrooms need sprucing. read more

Stopped in last week in search of a book I'm completely unfamiliar with for a tween.. something I'm also completely unfamiliar with. Someone was quick to notice me digging my face into my phone to pull up information. The young lady new exactly what I was looking for before I even finished my sentence (Super impressed!). She walked me straight to the book and went on her way (I appreciate non-hovering sales people). Talk about saving me some time! I NEVER would've guessed this book was in the children's section. After pondering the plethora of bookmarks available for what seemed like an eternity (Decisions! Decisions!), I was promptly rung up by a super sweet woman at the checkout counter. Would it be possible for me to live in a Barnes and Noble? Because if it were possible, i would totally do it. I never feel more relaxed than when I'm in a B&N surrounded by books and the smell of coffee. I've been going to this particular B&N for a very long time (was around long before there was one in Mac Mall - that makes me sound old, doesn't it?) and have never been disappointed with selection or service. They have a great customer service area right in the middle of the store where the staff is ready to help you find anything and everything you need. There is a starbucks at this location along with AT&T WiFi. There is also a section for the Kids. At the front of the store is the 'bargain' area - a section I'm very familiar with... Is it bad that I come here for the soup? I like soup. Their soup changes daily. My favorite is the Timberline Chili. It's just the right amount of heat. I also enjoy the desserts. They always have two cupcake flavors: chocolate and vanilla. Both really good. And this brownie-like treat called an Oreo Stack. Way too sweet and delicious. The sandwiches aren't great. And they have pizza -- cheese or pepperoni. I typically go for pepperoni (spicy, too). They heat/cook the pizza in a little toaster oven, and it is only good if you eat it immediately. Like, in the cafe. I work about ten minutes away and in that little commute, the pizza becomes mostly inedible. But what do you expect? It's a bookstore. This location needs to be updated soon. Yes it has all the books, magazines, fandom etc you could need, but the furniture is old and my least favorite thing is that there are basically no outlets for you to hook up your laptop to! Even in the Starbucks area. I love going to Barnes and Noble to get work done but it's very frustrating when there are only a few places I can set up at. And if those places are occupied I have to pray that that person leaves before my laptop dies! Thankfully the staff is friendly and helpful when it comes to locating items in the store. I am such a bookworm and to be honest, I love all Barnes and Noble bookstores. This location is no different. It's actually my "home" Barnes and Noble. The staff is always very pleasant and willing to help me find whatever it is I'm looking for. Their magazine selection is huge (hubby's go to). The kids' section is in the back with a train table (my son's go to). The cafe is usually stocked with different desserts, paninis, sandwiches, and of course, coffee). They still have the huge section in the back stocked with CD's, which at some point I'm sure they will have to do away with, since CD's are pretty much done with. They do have a rewards program which you pay for once a year, and you get 25% off anything you buy. I'm not sure how much it actually costs; hubby always purchases this. It's the perfect place to do some quiet time reading. I actually came here 4-5 times a week when I was in college studying and working on papers. Love this place! read more

I love, love, love books. I love libraries (definitely something I dearly miss about home - old, rusty, magical libraries). Barnes & Noble will have to do most of the time around here. However, this location is messy. I don't know if we, for some reason, went here on a "bad" day or if this spot is just disorganized in general. I noticed quite a few books were out of place, their toys and games area was a mess. We went here to get a simple birthday gift and it was almost impossible to find a couple of related items as everything was so out of place and scattered. I like coming here to get an idea of what is out, what I might like to read, or buy. This location is kinda of hidden, because it is surrounded by major grocery stores, restaurants, etc. They have a starbucks located inside if you would like to enjoy some coffee or snack. This is one of those comfort zones that you can go to when you can't get a massage. Go in, find a book or magazine that you think you may enjoy, grab a coffee and find one of those big chairs where no one will bother you. Even if you want to just want to surf the net in peace and almost quiet you have someplace to go. "The Good" - Coffee, even though its Starbucks, I like it but it is not my first choice its still coffee, which is a good thing. - Free Wi Fi to log on to the internets. - Comfortable Chairs and places to just relax. - Now that we are three in its time to mention the awesome staff, although they could get bumped up they are still great. Friendly smiles. I knew they were cool when one of the girls saw a lady sleeping in one of the chairs and instead of running to get everyone else she gently closed the book slide her handbag under her foot and told her associate at the desk to make sure her bag did not go for a walk. That alone is a good reason to come back. - Decent location and centrally located. - They have what you are looking for even if you did not know you wanted it, and if they do not they can order it for you. I had preordered a book from barnes and noble. Because I am part of their Membership program I was able to get the 1-2 day shippong for free. I selected this option - I confirmed this option - I payed with this option. The book was SUPPOSED to arrive between March 3 and March 4. I have been tracking the package and now it says I wont be able to get the book until the 7th. I am home for spring break so if it does not come by that point, my parents will have to send it to me at college and that'll be another 2 to 3 days before I can finally get my book. If I wanted the book a week after it came out, I would have preordered the book for that time. Highly pissed off and dissapointed in whatever system they are runnimg vecausw this is obsered amd frankly rude. read more

I definitely come here often since it's the closest Starbucks to my job. The baristas are all wonderful and on point! My drinks are made correctly every time, and if they make mistakes, they correct them without a frown or attitude (as I've observed as I waited for my drink to be made). They also upsell their products even while you're waiting to order, so they do their job. The baristas are all helpful and friendly. THEY. DO. NOT. ACCEPT. STARBUCKS. CARDS/GIFTCARDS/APPS. Please. They're not rude about it, but they have a sign. I hate watching people get sassy with them for not seeing a sign and being unnecessarily extra about NOTHING. If you can afford a Starbucks giftcard, you can afford Starbucks without your freaking stars. Anyways, onto the book floor. They have soo many things to choose from, but I actually come here to buy Board Games when I can't be bothered to wait 2 days for Amazon to ship them. I know everything is cheaper online, but sometimes you gotta have things the day of! Exploring the boardgame section is always interesting. All the book sellers are attentive and helpful, so if you can't find something, patiently just wait in the customer service line. The selection is great. The service is on-point. This Barnes and noble has a pretty good size coffee area. There is plenty of space to do some nice, quiet studying but I did have trouble finding many outlet areas for my laptop. I've also had several group meetings here and have never had a problem getting seating or tables. We've been able to put tables together to accommodate our large groups. The only gripe I have is that the bathroom is like a mile walk from the coffee area. If you're like me, then you know that coffee makes my bladder giddy and I often have to get up to use the restroom during my study times. This can make it quite a hassle having to walk all the way to the opposite corner to use the restroom, especially if you have to go like 2 or 3 times within the hour. Maybe they did that on purpose so you have to walk through all the selection of books :) read more

Because it's a bookstore, I want to give it five stars. However, this location seems to have less available seating than other locations. The last time I went there weren't too many employees available to help me find what I was looking for. When I did find an employee, she was extremely friendly and helpful. She took me to the section I needed to be in and when we couldn't find the book she checked her computer again and browsed several aisles hoping to find the copy the computer said they had. She offered to order it for me, but I was more interested in skimming through it before making a purchase. The establishment is clean including the bathroom (very important). The wait time to check out is minimal to none most of the time. They have a broad selection of books, magazines, games, toys...you name it. Given the fact that it's closer to my home than the other local bookstores, this is the one I drive to first. read more

Bring a coat, they keep the air super cold!!! They have a cafe with drinks/snacks but you can walk around with your food when it fills up front. Huge Magazine selection! The kids area has a small play area and a decent selection of the more popular young kid books. They have a membership that gives discounts on books/food, but also have an educator discount card you can get with proof of being a teacher/homeschooler. Also have little gift area up front with random things. This location is smaller than some stores, and older. Bathrooms are dark. But it's nice to have a place to hold a book in person and they can order things from their website for you. Sure you can get books for better prices online. But it's a bookstore...I love going to a bookstore. read more
