I am more of a food reviewer but will still give my honest experience and insight. Came in to assist my girlfriend in setting up and promoting her book, "A Tale of a Service Animal." When we arrived the store had already had a table set up with balloons and such to add a nice touch. It was nice of them to also allow her to promote her artwork as well as an abstract artist. It was a good crowd for a Sunday, she sold most of her books and made a bunch of connections too. The store aloud her to stay a little later than her allotted time with the traffic that she drew in. A success in both our eyes. I was able to walk around the store and look around so she could do her thing at times. I found the place fascinating, I draw mazes so I was really into the puzzle area of the store looking for such books. The children's area brought back memories of books that were once read to me. There are games, legos, and much more throughout the store. I don't read much, have picked up a book more within the last year though. I can always find something at a tag sale for a quarter so spending money here seems silly short term. Could see myself doing some last minute Christmas shopping here though in a punch knowing what is inside. read more

Once again Barnes and Noble disappointed me. Their website said that the book I wanted was in the store, .....and I traveled to the store.....but it wasn't there. In fact, the website of another nearby B&N store also said it was in store.....and it wasn't. I guess I should have "called in advance" but shouldn't a well updated website preclude this? The staff were polite. But the store told me that it was not their fault because the individual store workers do not control their website. So who is responsible? It sounds like the different parts of the organization are not well integrated. One hand does not know what the other is doing. And they wonder why they are having difficulty attracting customers? And by the way, several days later, the book is still listed on their website as available in this store. read more

So what can you say about Barnes and Noble? They're usually all the same basic setup and offering. The store was decently clean and well stocked. I found what I was looking for on this trip. The checkout process was less than smooth, though. When I found the book I wanted to made my way to the front I found a line of patrons also waiting. There were only two customer associates behind the counter, one checking customers and one trying not to help customers. The second one was walking around aimlessly and trying to avoid the register. She would look up every now and then to see if we were still waiting and eventually had no choice but to come over and start checking out customers. At any rate I finally paid and was able to leave, although the paying process was longer than searching for the book. Do better B&N, do better. read more

I love, love, love this place. In my old age (snicker) I have turned in my party shoes and now frequently find myself HERE, of all places, on random nights. Who would have thought that? Certainly not me. I'm mostly broke lately (because crippling debt is FUN) so I spend most of my time browsing for new titles (that I can eventually buy used for $2.00 on Amazon.com). Okay, okay. I know. I'm a cheapskate. I'm sorry. Anyway. What I love about Barnes and Noble (it's not "Barnes and Nobles"....pet peeve...) is the fact that it's mostly nice and quiet and no one bothers me. I can grab a coffee from the Starbucks cafe (they also sell Cheesecake Factory dishes, if you are so inclined) and wander the store for hours without a single person staring me down or trying to chat. I love that. I can also hole up in the cafe for however long I want writing and surfing the (now free) internet. When I do make conversation with the employees, they are friendly and helpful (although I did manage to completely stump the girl in the music/movie section. Go me!). Most employees really know a lot about...well, books. Which SHOULD be a no-brainer, really, but in this day and age isn't. (When you're working 40 hours a week and going to school full time, who has time to read? I'm not placing blame here. I understand totally.) I would give this store a full five stars if there were more comfy seats available on the sales floor (I can never seem to find one that's free) and extended hours. While I believe they close at 8 on Sunday, which is better than every other store in Enfield, I'd still like the option of going later! read more

i have never left a review before, but i was moved by my experience today to do so. i was taking my time looking through journals, which is next to the register. i overheard the employees interacting with customers during this time and it was incredibly sweet, i don't really eavesdrop as a rule but the music was quiet and they were speaking pretty loudly to an older gentleman. the cashier asked if he found everything okay, and he said yes, and the cashier inquired further because he seemed hesitant. he wanted two books that they didn't have. two employees helped him order it for over 10 minutes, while not holding up the line. after this, they engaged with some young children in a way that would keep their interest in reading going. when it was my turn to check out, the service was the same. this is a model standard for what retail should aim to be, and the employees of this location should be praised. read more

Barnes and Noble has Legos! Lots and lots of Legos! This B&N has the added bonus of a toy section. Half of those toys are Legos. Star Wars Legos, Harry Potter Legos, city Legos, castle Legos! Legos Legos Legos. There are apparently books here as well, which makes this a Barnes & Noble. read more

Went in to buy a book I got an email about that was on sale for Mother's Day. When they rang it up at the register it was more expensive, I told them it was cheaper on their website and they would not price match.. so I had to order online and choose in store pickup.. wait an hour and drive back to pick up the book. Why not just price match your own website!? read more

I love this location of Barnes and Nobles! They have a fantastic and large selection of teaching supplies and flashcards. A much bigger selection then any other B+N's that I have shopped at in the area. The cafe was nice and quite on a Saturday night, something which I am not accustomed to. It was nice! read more

As compared to my review of the Manchester location this one is great. They are friendly, nice, willing to help and assist. They know where things are mostly unlike Manchester and off and on they even make recommendations which are helpful and don't tear off that part on the receipt like Manchester does. read more

This Barnes & Noble is large, seems well stock but tidy, and has some helpful clerks. Yet, this location does not have a music and movie department which I would have liked. While the magazine section was large there were less travel magazines as I have seen in other B & N locations. If I lived locally the lack of these features , which I would miss, would merit a 3 star rating. Not wanting to downgrade the average of this Barnes & Noble , a favorite among locals, I posted 4 stars. read more

I left my membership card in the store. I know it is my responsibility to leave with my card, but if the cashier had been paying attention, she would have seen it and given it back to me. I am a mother of 2 small children and my 3 year old daughter is on the autism spectrum. We have gone to this store in the past and my daughter has enjoyed the train table and the Lego table that I'm now assuming is to play with not for sale. Tonight we decided to go to B&N because my husband wanted to pick up a few books. Also there is another book store that had just opened up and they were having a kids event. My daughter gets nervous around other kids so we knew (or should say we thought) that going to B&N would be a nice non-stressful trip. So we are in the kid section playing with the trains, looking at books, and the toys. My daughter pulled a few stuff animals from the shelves and was imagining them playing with Legos. A staff member walks by and loudly says "OH!". She then walks over and says "We don't let you play with the toys, you need to put them back!" My daughter begins to scream and cry because this women scared her and then scolded her! The staff member then takes the toys from my daughter and throws them back on the shelf. My daughter goes to the shelf (still crying) and takes the stuff animals and puts them back exactly where they went! We then leave the store with a screaming 3 yr old. I know how to handle my children especially my child with special needs who at the time was smiling and laughing and enjoying your store. We were not going to leave the kids section a mess! And next time we will go to the other bookstore! read more
