Never gone record shopping in a mall before, was worried it was going to be a bit like going to and FYE store back in the 90s/00s, but knew it was an independent store. I was actually in search of a new record so called a few days ahead of time to ask if they had it. They said no, but also sounded like they had no idea what I was asking for (even though it was listed on their website). But low and behold there was two copies on the rack. I was also able to find a great numbered edition of 10 Year Anniversary edition of a record that came out three years ago, which I was very stoked about. Selection is mostly new, with a variety of used mixed in. I am typically after new(ish) punk and they had a decent selection (albeit it was mixed in with hardcore and metal). I totally could have bought a bunch more records but constrained myself. read more

I bought many stuff from this store for my kids over the years and generally like the store. I got the same rude checkout lady last two times. They sold me overly priced Pokemon card packs ($22 each), which didn't have any good cards. Today, they sold me a fake dumpling squishy. It smells like cheap and smelly spray paint and didn't even have eyes. I didn't think it would have happened in this store. read more

I miss Newbury Comics. I used to come here once a week just to see what new stuff came into the store when I lived in Connecticut. I came here on Saturday with a friend just because it's been a year since my last visit. The store looks much different then the last time I was here and not in a good way. What I used to like about Newbury was that it was packed with comics, movies, toys, and clothes and it felt like that kind of store. Now when you walk into this store it feels like you are walking into an Urban Outfitters. Don't get me wrong, I still enjoyed looking at all the records, funko pops, comics, and random collectibles I just wish it had a more comic book store feel like it used too. This is still a great store that I wish had a location anywhere near Buffalo, but sadly it will probably be another year before I get to browse this store again. If you live in Connecticut you should absolutely be giving this store a shot! read more

This Newbury's is quite a bit different than the larger one in Providence Mall. That one was more of a five and dime type of place with all sorts of strange things. The Newbury's in Manchester is more focused. It still has plenty of CD's but also has a large selection of action figures, including sports and sci-fi. You can get Lebron James, David Ortiz, Batman or even an anatomical correct Dr. Manhattan if you so desire. They also have a small but nice selection of Red Sox, Celtic and Patriot gear. A nice thing about this Newbury's is that it actually does have comics, or at least Graphic Novels. You can find Batman, Thor, Superman and of course the Sandman series. It's not a large store but certainly a cool one to waste some time and money in. read more

Pretty nice store near the Sears store of Buckland Hills Mall. Staff was really helpful and found some items pretty cool. Lots of trading cards which are hard to find. Here is a selection that I found interesting. * Doctor Who * Star Trek * Twilight * Torchwood * DC and Marvel Comics (also some vintage too) * Indiana Jones (both new and old style cards) * Stargate (SG-1 and Atlantis too) I asked the girl for the 10th and 9th Doctor from Doctor Who. Unfortunately, it was not in any of the stores when she checked all inventory. There were still better selections than Toys 'R Us which is very limited. I got this set which was pretty impressive for only $30. * Doctor Who Series Two Gift Set (limited edition- 300 total according to Newbury Comics which probably is Marketing scheme; it worked on me obviously plus no single 10th Doctor available) - Tenth Doctor (David Tennant) with 3-D glasses and sonic screwdriver - Damaged Cyberman - K-9 Robot Dog with Pull Back for Forward Motion - Blue Clockwork Man - Grey Krillitane - Ood Worker with Transluent Orb Really nice to see lots of things like the following: * Trading cards * T-shirts * Action figures * Plush dolls * New and used DVDs * Video games * Tons of music both new and used * Plenty more and check out the website as well I visited the Newbury Comics in the Independence Mall near Cape Cod which was also good. This is a nice comic store. Not a true comic store, it mixes a bit of modernism in it (some hop hop culture) which makes it appealing to the mass mall crowd but not to hardcore geeks like me. read more

I ask the guy at the register for a application. He asked why? I said you guys have sign saying hiring. I had to point out the sign. The only time I could shop at Newbury Comics was when I went into Massachusetts. Finally, Connecticut now has there very own store. Here are all the reasons why Newbury Comics is one of my favorite stores-- -----They sell new and used DVDs, including animes and porn (not what I buy, but I thought others might want to know this) -----They sell new and used CDs. They have a very eclectic selection of music, which is great, because I listen to a lot of different types of music and bands. They also carry a lot of singles, even for older music. -----They have a very interesting book collection. There is no need for me to search a huge book store for all the odd books that I read. Instead, I go to Newbury Comics to find them all together on one tall bookshelf! I could spend hours trying to figure out which book I want to buy, since I want them all!! -----Everywhere you look, you'll find the most strangest, coolest and geekiest toys hanging up around the store. There isn't one bare wall or bare spot in that small store. All my friends hate when I stop at Newbury Comics because there is just so much for me to look at that I never leave. -----They sell all sorts of cards and card games, from baseball cards to Magic cards -----They have a few whole shelves devoted to small Japanese toys and Tokidoki -----Small selection of new and used video games -----Friendly and helpful employees -----They are one of the few stores that I know of that sell Mcfarlane's Dragons. I have no shame admitting that if you look hard enough, there are really good finds in the 'Sale' selection. Game of Thrones, Attack on Titan, Dr. Who, Star Wars -- there's all sorts of merch and swag that Newbury Comic carries. Newbury Comics is like Hot Topic's cooler older brother that gets it. Hats, shirts, hoodies -- they also have stuff Buckland Hills wouldn't carry anywhere else. Staff is friendly, helpful and always seem to be in the know for a good movie or enjoyable tunes. Pretty nice store, smaller but still good novelty selections. I am not a big fan of the CD's the selection is pretty poor for CD's. I enjoy that they have records, the DVD's and DVD prices are pretty weak, especially the used prices. The used prices are worse than new prices pretty much any where. When I go to the mall I always stop here. Lots of cool novelty stuff you dont find anywhere else. Love the different novelty shirts and stuff. They have alot of used media that is reasonably price. Ever since I moved here, I've mourned the lack of a really good record store. Sam Goody and Best Buy certainly were not filling that hole in my life. I would always make a point to visit a Newbury Comics when visiting family or friends in Rhode Island or Massachusetts. I admired its independent sensibility, its vast selection of music, and its small but high-quality variety of toys and accessories. Today, though, I am truly the luckiest girl in the world. Or, at least, Connecticut. Newbury Comics has finally made its way to the Nutmeg State, and it's just a couple miles from my front door. My bank account is empty and my music and Tokidoki toy shelves are full to bursting. They even have a decent selection of vinyl -- and I just got a new turntable for my birthday. So, if you'll excuse me, I have to go pick up a few more albums. read more

Newbury is a fun comic book/ counter culture chain in New England (well, I've only experienced it in MA and CT). Think Hot Topic for grown ups. The offerings are pretty varied. I found pretty cool Breaking Bad gear, a Doctor Who table cloth, vinyls, and more. As with most places like this, you will probably pay a premium. The good side is you will find some unique items here along with comic exclusives. The downside is that the comics at Newbury Comics are severely lacking. I understand trying to keep a store financially afloat via comics is tough, but my opinion is they need to step up their game. The comics were disorganized. They didn't list what was new (on a Wednesday). Despite being part of their namesake, the comics have been relegated to the back corner. read more

I would like to give no or half a star but you can't. I'm just so upset for them calling it a DVD store. One do you guys even sell new DVDs? And I don't care if it's used but maybe make sure it works before selling it, how about that? So when I get home and try to watch it, it doesn't recognize the damn thing. How does that even happen? Every time a new record comes out, I go no place else because I know that they won't have it. Newbury Comics holds all those new releases from bands that stores like FYE only have available online. They have a wide selection of punk, hardcore, and metal CDs to choose from. And, it is not too expensive at all. I love how small and personal it is, but sometimes I wish it was bigger and had clothes and shoes in it. I saw the one in South Portland, Maine and fell in love. read more
