Within a span of three years, Ive come to this specific location a total of five or six times. Every single time I come here I leave smiling. Their selection is hanging in there and decently impressive post-covid, and all the titles Ive looked for Ive found easily. Also, I love their game/puzzle section since the variety and selection is vast. The only negative thing I can say is there are hardly any outlets in the entire cafe and store. Theres two and you have to do some hunting to find them- and theyre not even near the cafe. The people who work here are continuously helpful, welcoming, and kind. It seems like theyre always willing to answer any questions with honesty and transparency, and theyre always trying to create the best experience. Thanks for being awesome! read more

Wow Barnes and Nobles is not what I remembered. It is sad the glory days has passed you. I blame myself for ordering too many books online. I went in to get a book on chemistry, not one book on this matter was in the science section. Half of the shelves were empty! It turns out they are doing a store merch reset, but having worked at a liquor store, you either do the major resets over a closure period, at night, or one section at a time. When your store is in this much disarray how do you sell books? I am guessing Starbucks drives in much of their business now, and the kids, and teen sections which seem to be almost as big as all the other subjects. Well maybe I will try the Barnes and Nobles in Nashua? Gone are the days when you could really check out books in a bookstore before purchase? read more

Solid Barnes and Noble but it has a really small music section. Other than that it's pretty awesome.

This is the right place for a great selection of books, magazines, music, DVDs, baked goods, and Starbucks Coffee!! I stop here often for the latter because: 1) It's one of only four places in Manch that brews Starbucks, and 2) It's convenient. I can get a scone, cookie, or brownie with my coffee and enjoy my coffee to a good book in the Cafe. I bring my Member discount card (Can't leave home without it!) for 10% off everything in the store. I really dig the local interest books and travel books & maps. read more

Stopped in one evening for some reading material to help me fall asleep in my hotel room. I keep reading on my iPad - which the light seems to keep me awake. I've found that reading a regular book will make me fall asleep in no time flat! I decided to go with something fun - some light reading so I opted to search the "Humor" section. I wanted a "Foxtrot" book - but they only had one - which I already have at home. So I bought a Dilbert compilation. The woman at the help desk around 7pm tonight with the black skirt went above and beyond to walk through the store with me to find a book, look it up on the computer and her phone when we couldn't find it, she even looked in the back and everything. She made my night by finding what I was looking for and with how determined she was to make sure I walked out with it. I wish I got her name but the woman deserves a RAISE! I bought "The Walking Dead Compendium" Sunday, November 27th. I called Monday to have the zip changed and was told that would not be a problem since there was a tiny problem and the book hadn't shipped. (the misplaced it, makes sense its after black friday.) Then all hell broke loose. Here are the following. Me "I was told if I ordered the book sunday it would ship monday and was given the number to track my order. I just recieved the email that the book may ship tomorrow. Unacceptable. I also spoke to a customer service person to change the address to CO: (info removed) I also found out that I could have recieved 30% off had I just ordered it online monday. So after fighting with them, they are going to ship out a "replacement" even though the other book has been shipped (yet is about 2 miles away from where its being delivered but whatever) And the shipped book isn't going to make it. This Barnes and Noble seems smaller than the other ones I've been to. It seems very compact, and I wasn't pleased with the organization of it. It took me quite a while to find the poetry section. I felt as though the Starbucks area takes up more space than it should. They did however have a good selection of journals and stationary. And unexpected gifts for that relative you're never sure what to buy them. read more

My family has been in this country for a thousand years, no we are not native american but travelers, I believe Robert Frost wrote about my family line as a noble people. My ancestral family home is right under the cafe at this Barnes and nobles. The bones of my great papa and my grand mama (translated to English). They paid me off to keep from telling my story but I've been silenced too long. My main quarrel with the cafe is that there are no outlets which is a pain, please figure that out. I mean seriously who's the architect of designer, how could they not have figured out that a study nook would not need outlets. read more

I brought the issues of the armored car service blocking the handicap parking to the attention of the employees, I did have to be consistent and direct with my request that the store handle the situation, They did. I am impressed with their solution. The store manager was directly involved as well as the associates that assisted with a process to insure the armored car did the right thing. This location has boasted the stinkiest bathrooms in the city of Manchester for years and years. Stale, urine-drenched air, overflowing trash, and sticky, encrusted pubic grime on every toilet seat. Drink the coffee in the cafe, browse the books, but don't stay so long that you'll need to use the restrooms. read more

I come here multiple times a week to get work done, read, etc. It's a nice environment to get stuff done and the employees are always super helpful and seem like they like their job. I just wish it was open longer. Seems like every year they close an hour earlier. read more

This location is probably my least favorite of alll the B&N locations in S. NH. It's much smaller than the other ones and they don't keep it as clean as they could. They are almost always packed, so good luck finding a seat. That is, if you can even find the book you are looking for. I always used to come to this location when I was in high school to get school work done. I'm currently finishing up my degree online, and I'm always looking for a place that I can get my work done. This place used to be my favorite for the Starbucks and seating area, plus the free wifi! However, there are no plugs available for laptop charging now and the baristas are loud and obnoxious behind the counter, making it a tough environment to stay focused. If you're stopping in to look for a specific book and then leave, this could be the place for you, but if you're looking for a place to come and get work done and drink coffee, you may want to reconsider. read more

I prefer the layout of the Barnes and Noble in Salem but there is a nice selection of books, DVDs and CDs for both your christmas shopping and routine needs. The layout is on one floor with the cafe in the back. A larger magazine selection would be appreciated as all the genres are covered but the selections for each topic is far from complete. read more

Basic warehouse of stuff wasn't to hard to get in and out. Kept well organized so was pretty easy to find what I needed.

I love to read and browse so this place is heaven. Good selection of books but if you need something in particular that isnt very common you might want to check inventory before you head over. I needed a dream interpretation book to give as a gift and they had none except for online. read more

MIKE in Media Department Rules!!! I've gone to many B&N Bookstores throughout New England. This one, by far, is my favorite store. The media department is staffed by the friendliest and helpful salesperson I've ever encountered in my long life as a consumer. Kudos to Mike! I shop the Manchester store frequently and I've never caught him on a bad day. He knows the department, music and film and, if the item you are searching for cannot be found, he'll make every effort possible to locate it and order it for you. The store is large, clean (restroom excepted) and well lit. Great coffee shop. Overall a wonderful friendly staff. read more

B&N has been beseiged by the 'cheaper is better" mentality of people shopping online. I can get some of the products cheaper at Amazon or other places, but i prefer to buy in the store because it provides local people with local jobs which also filters back into the community.What you might save in a few bucks can cause devastation to your friends and neighbors working in these bookstores who depend on your sales IN THE STORE to support their families and perhaps even help your businesses. The biggest issue for this store is it very unfriendly for the laptop user, with no electrical outlets to recharge. read more

This is a chain bookstore, so it's pretty much like all the other Barnes and Noble stores. I enjoy the atmosphere...good magazine selection, great book selection and friendly employees. Perks include the Starbucks cafe and free WI-Fi. There are very few electrical outlets that are accessible in the store (none in the cafe) so be sure to go there with a full computer battery. read more

Awful service. Twice in the past 2 weeks I've gone in and found a book listed as "in stock" in their computer system, but was unable to find it on the shelf. I asked for assistance, and was told, "Well if you've already looked and couldn't find it, the best I can do is order it for you." They won't even help you look. I have to be honest this Barnes and Noble does not live up to my expectations. As a manga fan, I often go to the Nashua store and find whatever I need there. The Manchester store more often than not does not have what I am looking for. The manga section is very understocked, and it is sad that as a resident of Manchester, I cannot go to the local Barnes and Noble and purchase the volume I am looking for. The selection for books is bad as well. Also stay away from the lady who dresses in navy blue and has her black hair in a ponytail if you are a guy who doesn't like guy things. I have purchased things from the Manchester store and have had this woman laugh out loud at me for buying things that are not for the typical guy. Its a shame she is still employed there, as I have complained multiple times to the management about her and she is still employed there. Honestly if you want a GOOD Barnes and Noble, skip this one and either go to Nashua or Salem, or take a day trip to the Burlington one. You will be glad you did. read more

I felt compelled to download yelp to my iPhone just so I could write a scathing review about this establishment. Never have I seen such a nasty women's restroom. It was so bad I couldn't use it. One toilet out of order and another one with peepee all over the seat and on the floor with toilet paper strewn about. Come on now, really??? And it's like this everytime I come in. I bought a 2-cd called Meditative Ocean & Rainforest by Dr. Jeffrey Thompson and paid their sticker price of $21.99. When I got home and looked at the back the retail price was $19.98. They should never charge more than the retail price. On their on-line store it was reduced from $19.98 to $17.98. I got ripped off and will never go back there again. read more

My greatest concern with this store is how management, perhaps at a much higher level than even regionally, treats their employees. B&N is following suit with many companies on a revenge tactic for ObamaCare. I have had excellent excellent service from the low level store employees in nearly every department but am troubled that many of them have had their work hours cut drastically and that long time hard and dedicated workers are being pushed out progressively through loss of work hours and benefits. Customers are also to blame for shopping online and supporting local people in local jobs which is of enormous benefit to the local economy, I shop and buy things, sometimes paying more than i have to, to support the local economy. In the past i have submitted positive feedback and it does not appear that BN finds it in their interest to reward excellent performance. I have voiced concerns also to management that they need plugins for the cafe and that this will increase average ticket but this is on deaf ears at the highest level. The low level employees are book-loving, good people trying to make a living like everyone else and we as customers need to support them. read more
