I have used Barnes Aviation to take my A&P license exam and both times have been a mess. They randomly shut down the offices so their times schedules are inconsistent and they hardly ever return your calls I scheduled my third exam three weeks ago and I have not received word back from them. I stopped by this morning and they were closed so if the main person is out sick, then apparently there is no one else who will cover for her. This place is super ghetto by the way if you take your exam make sure you bring earplugs because the walls are paper thin so you hear EVERYTHING and even though they have three computers they will only allow one person to test. Also, you need to call them to see when they can schedule you an exam instead of just going to the PSA website directly and scheduling your own times after they make the slot for you then you go to the PSI website and book your appointment so hopefully it doesn't fall under when someone else is going to test because then you're going to have to pick another date. I've also had lots of problems with their computers because they decide to freeze up and then you're waiting there for the longest time so the lady can call IT to get the computer issue resolved. They should definitely have two people working in there so if one persons out the other person can fill in this is the closest thing they antelope Valley has to do PSI exams for pilot licensing and mechanics so they need to be more on top of it. read more

I've had the pleasure of taking my UAS Operator exam at Barnes and eventually started renting their aircraft. Super "old school" kind of place, complete with the hangar bums! They have a great fleet mix, seem well maintained, and the staff are always super friendly. Just today I was scheduling a checkout in a different aircraft and one of the pilots in the lobby took me out to the aircraft to show the interior and explain some of the nuances (every aircraft has a personality). This school reminds me of the days when I started to fly, and I just love that atmosphere! read more

Ya...idk. I love this place naturally because it on the same airport I volunteered for the Airshows, but the flight school needs ALOT of work. I moved back from Bakersfield a couple year ago and loved the flight school there and offered the lady that work in the office to update the website and help with the ease of access to the social media for the business, since the website has been the same unattractive, undescriptive page for the last 10 yrs, but every attempt was shot down. The website is horrible, the ability to schedule flights and speak with an instructor can't be done, from what I was told there are like two flight instructors, the tech in the office is ancient, marketing attempts are non-existent. I mean c'mon, this is the aerospace valley...kinda disappointing. read more
