I am fitter than I have been for years. The reason for my departure is the recent transformation of a previously unisex, tranquil, shared area of the gym (a place of stretching, warm up and cool downs, yoga poses etc.) into a shadow boxing club for young men. This transformation has been led by one enthusiastic, ebullient gym-member and is spreading to his cronies. I spoke to the management about this user led reassignment of space. The management told me that there was no policy to prevent gym members from using an area of the gym for an activity that it was not designed for. Out of a total of 8 mats for stretching etc., 3 are now highly compromised. Clearly, the ebullient gym member has no understanding of boundaries and David Lloyd has no way of helping him understand about how to share space fairly. If you want your boundaries tresspassed upon, and to have that trespass legitimised by controlling authorities, join this flagship David Lloyd.

Providing excellent facilities to the local community, this leisure centre can boast an excellent running track, five-a-side football and hockey courts, tennis, badminton, a 25m swimming pool, first-class gym, spa facilities and various fitness training programme. I started going here twice-weekly some years ago as part of a misguided attempt to bring myself back to a level approaching fitness. Predominantly I used the gym and swimming pool facilities but my membership also gave me access to the spa. You're unlikely to find better value for money anywhere else in London. Even without a membership it's fairly inexpensive - a swim costs around £2.50. They also organise weekly or bi-weekly swimming sessions for women only or baby and mother groups. If you live around this area this is a brilliant place to come and relax or keep up with a bit of fitness.

On certain nights there is Ladies only swimming which my friends and I call "Quimswim". Between7pm and 10pm on a Thursday and some other times there is Quim Swim. The pool is fairly empty by 9pm. The pool itself is not the best in the area due to a lack of 'deep end' like the pool in Tring, however it is 25 meter and if you're just looking to keep fit is fine, however for serious club swimmers I would recommend Tring or Berkhamsted Barracudas. I am writing to you to compliment the high calibre of staff here at the YMCA. This morning a…read morefemale lifeguard (on the 7am shift), checked in on me to see if I was alright. My swimming cap was not covering my ears (which the audiologist told me to avoid getting water in them). She noticed me pulling on it in the deep end of the pool. She went above and beyond to see if she could find a spare cap for me in the back room and from reception. I do not know her name. However, I would like to give positive feedback about her. She left at 8am when changing over with Gary. I would like to give feedback about Gary who does life guarding in the pool area. I have had the pleasure of knowing him since I joined your club in April 2021. Whilst I was swimming and reached the wall at the deep end of the pool, he introduced himself to me and asked if I was OK with him keeping watch around the area, to which I replied yes. I asked him if he was a swimming instructor, as well as a life guard and he confirmed yes. My initial impression of Gary was one of a professional and friendly person who takes his job seriously and who cares about members' safety. I felt reassured and also confident that I would be in an environment with friendly staff. It is now April 2023 and I can say that my first impression of Gary remains of high esteem. I enjoy speaking to him and have observed he is well liked by other service users (as people always greet him when they arrive and leave the pool). My most memorable times at the YMCA have been when Gary, Sinead (the swimming instructor) and Warren (both of whom I have not seen in a long time), have been on shift. I can say without a doubt that their presence makes attending the YMCA even more worthwhile. They are kind hearted, enthusiastic and encouraging!

The options and their descriptions are listed below. Pavilion Hall This hall is suitable for gatherings of 100 to 200 people in size. We hold wedding receptions, birthday parties (21+), dinners, meetings and many other events here. There is a stage for entertainers to use or to present meetings from. A bar is to one side of the hall and there is a small catering area on the opposite side to the bar. Ask for Eric (bar manager) We have an in house catering service available, if required. A range of catering options are available from finger buffet to sit down waitress served meal. Menus are available for viewing when you visit the club. Sports Bar Our largest bar is available for hire. It was re-built and refurbished with the lounge bar in June 1999 and provides a nice setting looking out onto our playing fields. I've now cancelled my very expensive membership with LA fitness and joined here for a lot less plus it's a rolling contact that I can cancel anytime! There seem to be a lot of negative reviews about the swimming facilities here which I have to say I haven't tried but the gym is great. Lots of equipment and lots of space. Perfect!
