While I did not end up using Buffalo Valley for my fundraising event, I have nothing but good…read morethings to say about my experience working with Kim. And the only reason I didn't use them was another venue unexpectedly donated their venue to us at no charge... (Good to have connections!) Hard to beat a free venue... Kim was professional, personable, flexible, and extremely helpful in trying to meet my every need. We're a 501(c)3 and every dollar counts in our effort to fund local scholarships, and Kim took that guidance to the bank. She matched what I needed for per-meal price (beyond what any other venue could do), the price for the venue was VERY reasonable, and she was very timely in getting back to me after working out our deal with her manager. I called a lot of venues and talked to a lot of people. I'd looked into almost 30 venues for this event. Most venues are not flexible and didn't seem to care if they can't accommodate you. That's too expensive for you? Aw, sorry, good luck! *click* Others never even called me back. Not the case with Kim and Buffalo Valley. She really went the extra mile to make it work. It was a breath of fresh air working with her. I truly can't say enough good things about my experience. I highly recommend Buffalo Valley for your event. They made my short list for suitable venues for sure. Great customer service goes a long way. Thanks, Kim. --Elliott

We absolutely loved our wedding/ stay at Lucky Spur Ranch. When you think about a destination…read morewedding, typically you don't think of 30 minutes from your home, but that's exactly what this was. Sharie, Dakon, Jennica, Julio and the rest of the staff at Lucky Spur went above and beyond to make our wedding weekend one to remember. If it is in the budget, we HIGHLY recommend purchasing the weekend package. We were able to spend all day Friday setting up, leading to a smooth wedding day. Sunday we hosted a brunch on site for any guests still in the area. Esthetics wise, it is the perfect rustic style venue, but feels very elegant as well. The grounds are well maintained. The saloon on site was perfect for an after party. Our photos came out beautifully with the different backgrounds around the venue (shoutout Morgan Peña SimplyMoPhotography). Catering: HANDS DOWN BEST WEDDING FOOD. 2025, we went to 9 total weddings. Everyone raved about the food at ours. It was a step above. Julio and Jennica did an amazing job with everything from the tasting, to say of, to breakfast burritos we ordered for morning of the wedding, to the brunch on Sunday. We wouldn't change a thing! We had tenderloin, grilled chicken thighs, and salmon. All were delicious. Accommodations: we comfortably slept 35 people on site without cramming it (no couches were slept on lol) but there's room for more! The gentleman who stays on site keeps to himself but was there in a hurry if we needed anything. The fire pit was a hit. Heater worked well (and AC while getting ready). Do yourselves a favor, book a tour, go meet Sharie and the gang there, see it for yourselves. It's a truly special place and we now are looking for another excuse to rent it for the weekend.

This is a great place to attend an event. Just don't stay there. The facilities and grounds are…read morereally cool, spacious and give an authentic vibe, plus the longhorn cattle and donkeys are amazing (especially for those who've never seen the longhorns up close). Went for beautiful walks and enjoyed sunny days and a Texas thunderstorm that shook the building. The accommodations have potential but owners need to step up and get a professional cleaning company to actually clean the place. The room (suite) was filthy with remnants from the last wedding, dirty floor and windows and window sills, bathroom had a sewer smell, sheets were nasty (didn't sleep in the bed - did a store run and got some bedding I put on top), the towels were wax heavy from too much fabric softener (bought a towel too). They need to learn how to sanitize linens and not just add fragrance to cover up the smell. Also in desperate need of a handy man - windows were stuck and wouldn't open, the one that did lacked a screen, lightbulbs burned out. Lights shine into the room overnight (should be on timer or get some decent drapes). Went down to the event space and found the light switch - not a big deal but shouldn't be the guest's responsibility. Would visit for an event but would not stay there again. Similar complaints from other retreat attendees about the state of their rooms & bunkhouse.

I have allergies so I asked the chef (he was standing right outside so super easy) about my options. Little did I know everything was marked with easy-to-read allergen labels! Vegan, vegetarian, gf only disappointment was bbq sauce wasn't gf . Music, games, rosco the bull. I have an off grid ranch in eastern Colorado so most things "country" don't impress me because well I live it. But this was well done. Only wish band wouldn't played more classic country than pop. But the food was awesome. If you can go for drink specials. I have to do a gf grain option which is top shelf and $15 for a single. Ouch.

The pastoral and serene countryside of Flower Mound's Cross Timbers District is where Circle R…read moreRanch calls home. This sprawling estate is able to accommodate lots of guests (vehicles included) for all different types of functions. Everything about the property is ostentatiously southern, which might seem kitschy to non Texans, but for locals it just feels comfortable and familiar. Since I was there for a banquet, the first thing I have to talk about is the food. It seemed only appropriate that barbecue was on the menu with things like brisket, smoked sausage and baked beans, all served buffet style. While it was respectable enough, the quality was closer to Dickey's or Spring Creek than more authentic Texas barbecue. I thought the bread pudding they had for dessert was a good choice since I don't see that very often, plus it was very tasty. This place also has several built in bars because at social events people need their adult libations! There were only a handful of options available, but frozen margaritas was one of them, so that totally made up for the small selection. In addition to special events and private parties they also host market days open to the public. For that they have local vendors selling their goods along with other family friendly activities, such as pony rides, a petting zoo and rodeo. Although I haven't been before, I'm inspired to go now after seeing how well they handled the event that we did attend.
