It seems that every time I find myself in Jackson, Mississippi, I find myself heading over to Barnett Reservoir. I just enjoy the overall vibe of the reservoir. There are parks and restaurants around the reservoir. I really enjoyed the vibe of here and again, whenever I come to Jackson, Mississippi, I feel drawn here. If you are in the Jackson, Dissappear, I would strongly recommend heading to Barnett Reservoir. read more

My old college apartment is right down the street. This reservoir was the main reason I moved to the area twenty-something years ago to attend Jackson State University, and I'm still in love with it today. I visit every time I come here. It gets more beautiful and peaceful with each visit. It's funny because I see so many young people walking around, and I know they are college students, just like I was trying to live in this area because of the water. But I made it work, and so are they, making it work. Yep, that little one-bedroom apartment was worth every penny to see the Barnett Reservoir every day. read more

I love it here. A quiet, clean and beautiful location to connect with the Pearl River. I love that you're allowed to walk up to and touch the river without restriction. Oh there's also a fishing pier, boat docks, and a huge space for camping out in RVs. I have to try the RV thing one day. read more

Good place for kayaking/boating.. fishing (though, I discourage killin animals).. or walking or running outside.There is public parking and restrooms with no service fee/charges.. no malls or fancy gift shop (but what u expect much when you come to reservoir ) read more

I believe the sole purpose of parks like this is to improve a child's socialization skills. As you can see from the pictures, the equipment wasn't your regular sliding board, seesaw, or swing set. The colors and the shapes of these items are to capture the child's eyes and lead to interaction. I don't know if I got any pictures, but musical instruments were place in the play area for the free spirit child. Also, there is a child museum on the grounds, which we didn't get a chance to visit, but the children had fun, and that was the goal.

Kids wasted no time getting on slides and adults did the same with the lazy river. No lines, nice clean atmosphere and water. The concession crew were rocking it out!! The young man who has worked there for 5 years or so had his team lined up. They were so polite. Lifeguards were on top of it, environment felt really safe. Kiddy area was just right. We had a blast, worth the drive!!
