I liked the little statues throughout the park of children playing. What a cool touch to this park. We need parks so that we as a community has a place to gather in rest and cc recreation. We need a place to remember that we are neighbors and not just people who live by one another. We need a place to join as a community. Winner Circle Pub is a great park and I would definitely recommend a visit here.

I believe the sole purpose of parks like this is to improve a child's socialization skills. As you can see from the pictures, the equipment wasn't your regular sliding board, seesaw, or swing set. The colors and the shapes of these items are to capture the child's eyes and lead to interaction. I don't know if I got any pictures, but musical instruments were place in the play area for the free spirit child. Also, there is a child museum on the grounds, which we didn't get a chance to visit, but the children had fun, and that was the goal.

I didn't have Roosevelt State Park on my bookmarks list but I was driving past (this was my exit…read moreoff I-20) and noticed the three/four story observation tower. How could I resist the opportunity to climb up and get a look at the vicinity? The tower does have a lock on it, but in late afternoon it was open for tourists and so I made my way to the top. (Elevator appeared to be out of service.) There's a super view to the East and South from up here and since it was a clear day, I could literally see for miles and miles. The view to the West, which is where you might see Jackson MS, is blocked by mountain (hill?) and trees. A neat stop to stretch legs. I did not see any bathroom services here by the tower, but there's a gas station across the way.

We stayed in Meridian for a night during our road trip, and were pleasantly surprised by this…read morehidden gem! The park is very well maintained with plenty of parking. The lake was huge and has boat ramps. We saw some locals fishing on the lake. There are also plenty of trails available for hiking and mountain biking. We only had time to explore one of the trails in the woods and were lucky enough to see so many wild lives such as deer, armadillos and fireflies! I would be here daily if I live in Meridian.

There are also miles of trails / mountain bike trails in the woods surrounding the water that is decently maintained and marked. The trails remind me of a Lone Star Trail or Huntsville State Park and are easy enough for a family to walk through but interesting enough to mountain bike or trail run through. It smells like the piney woods and still feels wild enough inside the forest to make it fun and interesting. We saw a bunch of wildlife; deer, armadillos, fireflies, etc on the hike and did not get to explore all of it. There's also boat launches and easy and free public parking. A great spot if you're ever in Meridian or if you live here, you better be here 5 times a week.
