Had what I needed, at a reasonable price. Quick, and professional. Bought a firearm, extra mag, and ammo.

Barnett's Guns range require that you purchase their ammunition, no choices on what ammo is available, and the ammo isn't the best price. If you want to shoot, you must buy what they have at the price they have it marked. There are no backing cardboards for your targets, so your targets will move with what little breeze exists, or the bullet impacts. The target positioner is a simple toggle switch for 'out' an 'in' with no precise method to specify or dial in your distance, beyond approximation with a painted line on the floor. Ventilation is poor, the powder smoke clouds or accumulates near the shooter, becomes visible and is not healthy from an inhalation perspective. We really really wanted to do business locally, since we live in the Johnson City area, but since our two visits with similar experiences, in the future we will always drive all the way to Sevierville to use the range located out there. The gun shop (store) looked impressive, but we weren't in the market for a gun and can't speak to the available selections or prices...we only came to shoot at their range...and won't do that again. read more

I can't compare this place to others in the area, but I will compare it to ranges that I've been to in other states. First, the facility is old and small. The lanes are cramped, with no space behind them, and no tables for your gear. Basically you have to put everything on the floor and on the lane shelf. Also, there's no open space below the shelf for you to sweep the casings out onto the firing range. You have to continually bend down and pick up your casings and dump them into a bucket. The firing range is covered but it's open air, so it can be cold. Each lane has a ceiling mounted electrical heater which helps a little. They don't give you clips for your targets. They have cardboard mounted on the hangar, and they provide staple guns for you to staple your target to it. The target pully is electric but not programmable for distance. The switch has three positions: in, out, and off. There are distance markers painted on the walls, but only for every 10 feet. The pulley cables have a lot of slack in them, so every time you move your target, you have to wait for the target to stop bouncing around. Lastly, the most limited rental selection I've ever seen. It is inexpensive though, and the people working there seem very nice. As I said, I don't know if there are better ranges in the area or not. Maybe this facility is typical in these parts. read more

I really enjoyed going to Barnett's, I bought several guns, ammo, and even took my concealed carry class with them, (5-6 guns later) I took my dad to buy one off them, Barnett's son or a associate came up and asked me if I was ready to get a new one and I said due to my wife needing a medical procedure I'm going to wait but my dad and grandmother was both wanting to buy something that day, he then called my wife a damn bitch, and walked away, so I left the store, waited for my dad in the truck and I have not been back. I really did like going there but no one calls my wife a bitch especially over a sell and they had never met her, even though her family has helped them out in times of need, but I'd suggest going to TriCities Gun Depot.... Cheaper, friendly, and they go beyond to meet your needs.... Sorry to Barnett's, just from that 1 comment you lost alot of business, but at least I found out early it's about that cash, it didn't matter if my wife was dying of cancer she was just a damn bitch to you all, because you didn't get that sell that day..... read more

Everyone here is so friendly. Offer lay-away and will work with you so you can get the gun you want. We first visited this place just looking around for a pistol, but have continued to go back and buy several more. Prices very competitive. Shop local. Small businesses like this help families, not multi-millionaire CEOs. read more

I've had the opportunity to visit several ranges across the country. I'm glad I decided to stop in at Barnett's Indoor Shooting Range. This is by far the best indoor range I've seen. Their store is absolutely immaculate and the staff is friendly, helpful and inviting. If you're a first timer and hesitant to walk in, don't be. These folks are all about customer service and will treat you with nothing but respect and curtesy. As a US Marine it felt great to be there and chat it up with other Veterans. My wife and I had been to Barnett's a couple of times before, a while ago. We decided to return when we were in the neighborhood. The shooting area had been revamped after having been burned down by some clown, who decided to fire a tracer round in the old range. We had brought all our equipment along in our range bags as we had always done. At the gun range counter, we checked in. To our surprise, we were not allowed to use our ammunition and had to buy theirs. This was an unexpected expense and was not cheap. We had 3 different caliber guns and had to buy boxes of ammunition for all of them.Then we were told that we could not use the targets we had brought, but had to use their targets. This was a total surprise. After we were finished paying all the costs they placed on us, it was $102 for the two of us to shoot. That is way to rich for our blood and will be the last time we visit Barnett's Gun Range. read more

I had never been to an indoor range before, and had not fired a weapon in years, went with a friend out of curiosity. Very friendly staff. Explained everything. Indoor range, maximum about 90 or 100 feet. Very reasonable prices, $10, no time limit. Since my first time, had to watch a short gun safety video and sign legal/safety waiver papers before allowed on range, got card to show after that. Provided free use of safety glasses and ear protectors since I did not have either. Very glad about the ear protectors because good grief it was loud. Can't comment on gun/ammo prices because I was not shopping. read more

Went to Barnet's gun range a few months back. I did not purchase a weapon, however I did utilize their range! The staff was extremely professional and courteous and the range facilities were in good working order (not to mention their prices were better than Shooter's edge in Piney Flats). They even had overhead heaters in each booth that could be adjusted for your comfort! I will return and next time I will check out their prices on guns and ammo! If you are looking for a good place to shoot when the weather wont cooperate, give these guys a try, you wont be disappointed. read more

They sold Me a gun on Dec 29 2017 , the gun was shipped from Ruger on July 2015. They Stated this $400 dollar gun had only been on display a week. I was sold a 2 .5 year old gun base on a lie that it was just removed from the box. read more

Just out with my buddy killing time and rode up to Hampton since hadn't been there in a few years. Saw the huge log cabin and saw it was a gun shop and indoor range. Walked in and was amazed at the selection of holsters (That is what I was looking for on this outing today) and guns. The guy that helped me find the holster I had looked for at 5 other places already was extremely helpful and knew his stuff. He found the exact holster for my Ruger SR22 I had been searching for and even found one for my Taurus Public Defender. I have a 357 Mag that I am going to take up for them to work a trade deal for me on a Henry Lever Action Rifle (Which they have about 12 or more in stock). He even gave me a ballpark trade figure that was about $100 more than was offered at Mahoney's. The owner wasn't there today, but met his wife and she was very professional and courteous but still the down home type. These seem like just plain good East Tennessee folks to me and they have my business from now on, along with my referral to anyone looking for firearms. Taking the wife with me next trip and going to let her pick out a small auto or a derringer since she has her carry permit too. Love this place !!!! read more

Highest prices in the area. Even Mahoney's is cheaper!! Nice log cabin though must be why there prices are so high. Only positive about this store is they did have a good selection of guns. Competitors prices are not just a little cheaper were talking $50.00-$150.00 per gun. CRAZY PRICES! To beat it all the guy behind the counter said that was the sale price! Call before you waste the gas driving there. On the way back home we stopped at a gun shop we seen on the way into Elizabethton Tri cities gun depot. We are so glad that we did they saved us over 80.00 on the same gun we looked at Barnett's. Competitors are also far more knowledgeable about the firearms they sale. read more
