I want to expose the truth concerning a lawyer in a recent divorce case. Mr Jared Hastey in…read moreMarysville,Ca has represented the petitioner, my ex wife, .Colusa Co Court ordered me to pay him $7,500 in the judgment dated 8/8/2024 at the request of the petitioner for attorney fees though he never represented me in this case. He ended up with $10,500 which was an over payment. I sent him a check in June 2024 for$3,500 and the petitioner was supposed to pay him the difference from my credit card to total $7,500. Mr Hastey decided to keep $3000 over and never explained why. He did not comply with the court order nor gave receipts for payments nor any refund for the over payment, I also had to pay the entire QRDO of $695 which should have been split with the petitioner as per the court order. Many false information has been found on official interrogatories between Mr Hastey and the petitioner that I discovered in my investigation. Included were accusations of failed spousal support and me suddenly reducing my work hours to avoid paying the petitioner support. All this is flat out false since I have bank statements going back back 5 years to 2019 proving that all spousal support was given and also have pay stubs showing that I've been part time for at least 2 years since 2022 prior to this case and not a sudden decision on my part. I was served first by the petitioner at my work and Mr Hastey was hired by her without my prior knowledge. Both occurrences were in 2024. Mr Hastey claimed that I withheld supporting financial formation in the declarations of disclosure and the income and expense documents to the court. He even wanted to access my retirement account even though he was not representing me in this case. I have given all the required information to the Colusa Co. Court via their help desk since they were my only course of contact within the system. I also disclosed all my financial information to the QRDO folks that were working on the division of retirement funds to the petitioner. The court accepted all my paperwork and I didn't hear anything else about it. Also Colusa court blocked my retirement account so I couldn't even log in much less move funds around and has been this way for over a year later after the resolution. And after the petitioner received all her money. Mr Hastey even sent a bill over to the petitioner requesting more money, of which I had to pay simply because I had a few questions in this matter of which I couldn't get answers for elsewhere. I am simply presenting the facts in the case and whoever reads it, please be cautious when hiring this attorney. Thank you

I'm writing this for a friend because she's too nice and does not want to hurt anyone's feelings…read more Her attorney (Kim Stephenson) at this firm may be educated( per a review) She chose to not represent her client to her fullest capacity. This attorney (KS) hurt any chance of her living a comfortable retirement while I'm sure, my friend's ex- husband is very excited that she hired her,... while his very young attorney (just out of law school) was unfortunately, very prepared compared to Kim S. The attorney was unavailable, unprepared, and advise her to accept what was being offered....The attorney had no fight, in her, whatsoever. I would like to ask her " IS THIS YOUR BEST WORK??" The attorney's dog has a life better than my friend, So SHAME on HER ATTORNEY for not representing her client to the best and fullest of her capacity and charging almost $30k for no good representation. Don't waste your time or your hard earned money, on this one. You have been warned and educated on this attorney. The California Ethics board should look into this unethical attorney.

I was billed over 3 times the amount prior to the document even being filed. At no time did anyone from the firm discuss additional costs as they assured me they would. During the course of representation multiple attorneys were assigned and reassigned to my case, there were months where no attorney was assigned to my case, l repeatedly had to contact the firm to request updates and timeframes of when documents would be prepared, I was billed to review documents that were already reviewed and billed, billed for documents that were never sent, I was given incorrect guidance regarding my legal options, doubled billed for invoices, billed for repeated revisions due to lack of dilligence, required court filings were missed, lack of representation at court proceedings, billed during consideration of termination and after termination of representation. I disputed numerous charges but the firm still required payment even though the excessive fees were due to the firm's Internal staffing issues, lack of communication, and case mismanagement.

It took several iterations to correct all of these issues which was, obviously, very expensive. The packages that they mailed to the county were rejected due to insufficient recording fees as well as failing to provide me with the correct instructions, i.e. asked me to get an acknowledgement on documents when a jurat was required. Left me feeling very dissatisfied, very poor value.
