All you can do here is send parcels or buy stamps. That's it. It's bizarre, but this Post Office sticks in my mind more than others, and in all honesty I quite like it as I can imagine that I'm an extra from Mad Max when I'm in here, sending out a few postcards before a dangerous trip out on the wasteland.

There's no 'Birthday's' or 'Thorntons' concessionary here trying to take advantage of poor sods who've only just remembered an important card or parcel worthy event. Best of all, due to it's bleakness and purely functional purpose, it's usually really quiet and the few people who may be queued do so in an orderly fashion. There's no dilly or dallying going on. No-one jumping in and out of the queue in order to pick up some vitally needed bendy pen with fluff stuck to it's top or some such nonsense. No sir. It's a small local Post Office with allows you to post stuff. Bravo.

The downside to this postoffice is that it is too small for the services that are needed in this area and it also does not provide road tax, which would be a great service in this area. The shop that it is located in can be really cramped and over stocked, with the stock all over the walls and on ever shelf in the shop. It's also not very disabled friendly, if you where it try and enter in a wheelchair I don't think that it would be possible due to the small asles.

There are so many lovely things in the shop that I wish I'd had more time that day to browse properly. There are good quality gifts of many kinds including toys, handbags, picture frames, books and ornaments. There is also a nice range of greetings cards. You can also pick up a large interesting leaflet about local tourist attractions around the town. I hadn't realised it was such a beautiful area and I shall visit again soon when I have more time available. I'll make a bee-line back to this shop too and buy some of their lovely gifts!

There is a post box located on the wall. There is an organised queuing system which is definately needed at Christmas as the queues can be long. The staff are friendly and the majority of the time other than Christmas the queues are usually not too long.

Opening at 8.30am it gives people opportunity to buy stamps, pay bills, etc before going to work. Staff in general are friendly and helpful both for customers and each other. Sometimes though there aren't enough staff on the counter and queuing takes ages. Also if you are in the queue and remember at the last minute you need an envelope, you have to leave the queue to buy the envelope at the shop counter, before joining the post office queue again.

The staff are kind of friendly. Not super friendly. But friendly enough. For large parcels there's a hatch to pop your stuff in, and they tend to be pretty efficient so there aren't too large queues. Note: if you have cash, you can pop out to the Royal Mail Delivery Centre off Ayr Rd to do you posting. But you might as well do it here.

They always seem to be having a great time and I just don't know how they ever get any work done! They do all the obvious Post Office services: stamps, letters, parcels, giros, passports etc, plus they have a lovely little gift shop with genuinely nice bits of jewellery, ornaments, fancy bags etc, plus all the usual cards and wrapping paper. The only bad thing is that because it is a small shop, and it has a lot of stock, sometimes the queue for tha actual post office counter can make it a bit crowded and sweaty. However, that does not detract from a really lovely community type of place.
