In ATL for a girls-weekend and staying just blocks away at the nearby Thompson Buckhead, we walked over on Friday morning for a 50 minute Run X LIFT Total Body class with Chloe B. The class was far from packed, which made it more enjoyable. Chloe's queues and music were spot on and challenging without pushing us so hard that we thought we would puke. We all felt great afterwards and were just the right amount of sore the next day. Huge shout-out to the staff for educating my friend that had never been to Barry's before on how the red room and treadmills work and how the class was set-up with switching from tread to floor to tread to floor... Special kudos to Adi working the smoothie bar who was super sweet and chatty and gave us all kinds of local recs to look into during our visit. The individuals at the front desk greeted me with exceptional friendliness and cheer, extending a warm welcome and even presenting me with an introductory card. I participated in the 6:10 AM Run x Lift Full Body - Lower Focus class with Ahmad J. It was truly an invigorating experience, injecting a sense of excitement into my usual workout routine. I appreciated Ahmad's personalized approach, as he addressed each participant by name and provided motivation to all. The eclectic music selection and the ambiance created by the lighting added to the overall experience. I left the class feeling thoroughly exhausted and with a broken nail. Pros: 1. There is an abundance of combination lockers available. 2. The class consistently begins on time. 3. The instructor infuses the class with enthusiasm and a personal touch. 4. You have the option to purchase smoothies and other beverages. 5. The location is outstanding. 6. I genuinely love Barry's! And I'll admit I've been pushing off coming here because I've heard of it being a "Boot camp" and a lot of running and I hate running but I thoroughly enjoyed my class this morning! I have read some reviews and I think everyone should at least try it out and see if it's for you. I had no problem as a first timer, the front desk was very welcoming and friendly and gave out instructions extremely well and Justin, our instructor was also tough yet really instructed us in class very well knowing we had some newbies. I did an upper workout class and it was half treadmill and half weight training and while it's dark in the room it's really energizing and you REALLY get a great workout for. Shot bod! My only downside is parking, but if you park in the structure you get two hours free. I parked across the street and paid but it was simpler for me. They also have massive lockers, workout wear and a smoothie bar which is perfect after class. Barry's might be my new favorite studio! read more

Service: used classpass Ambience/Review: boujee. Lounge area (where you check-in) has athletic wear available for sale, some chairs and full mirrors. A corner with fresh juice and healthy food offerings. At the counter, there's hair tie, gum, ear plugs, parking validation ticket and other essential things. The staffs are hit or miss. Some staffs are super nice/helpful while others are snooty. At the entrance to the workout room there are towels available. Around the corner from the fresh juice bar are water fountains and lockers. The lockers are good size and they also have USB ports to charge your phone. The bathrooms are also on that side. I've tried OTF and now trying Barry's bootcamp. A quick analysis for you: 1. Pros. Workout routine is rigid and more effective. You run on the treadmill for a fixed time and do floor workouts for a fixed time. You can adjust the workout "level" by running at speed or using weights that works for you. Fixed timing is a good practice for me particularly because if I'm told to do x reps I cheat. 2. Pros. Instructor gives you levels of workout. Example: run at 6-7-8. Allows you to go at your pace. Same for weights. 3. Pros. Dark room with red light. Helps you focus and get in the zone. 4. Pros. The treadmills are legit and super stable. Can handle super fast running or force. Easier on knees. 5. Cons. Dark room so hard to see the instructor demonstrate the workouts on the floor. The room is narrow and long, again hard to see the instructor demonstrate workout on the floor. 6. Pros. Music is perfect. Beats match the workout and good transition between routines. 7. Pros. The weights are good quality. 8. Cons. There are no disinfecting wipes or no one to clean the equipments while we move from treadmill to floor (and vice versa). 9. Cons. No mats available to rest knees or back while doing routines on the floor. 10. Cons. Instructor doesn't fix your form. 11. Pros. Instructor is focussed on carrying out the class, no jokes or extra talk. 12. Cons. The instructor does not fix any one's form. The best way to describe Barry's is chaotic energy. I tried this workout for the first time and am personally not a fan for several reasons. First, I signed up for a class with a group, but they had difficulty finding my class registration when I went to check-in. Most of us with the group were new to Barry's and I found it disappointing that there was no proper introduction to the studio or class format. The room is so dark and music is incredibly loud, so the lack of introduction by the instructor made it difficult to keep track of what was going on. I didn't even realize when we were transitioning from the floor back to the tread because no one explained the class flow. Also, since the instructor is leading a treadmill group and floor group at the same time, it's hard to follow the right instructions especially with the loud music. There were no modifications provided for the tread or floor. I run regularly, albeit not on a treadmill, and fell during a high speed sprint, badly skinning both of my knees. The instructor barely checked on me then or throughout the workout. I wasn't the only one who struggled either. Finally, there was no correction to form for the floor workout or guidance given as to number of reps. This caused more confusion and makes for high injury potential, as illustrated. Barry's is honestly such an overrated and impersonal workout. It felt totally corporate and not even like a good workout to be worth the astronomical price. I don't think I'll be back or recommend Barry's to others especially with plenty of other better HIIT studios in the area like Bach, The Training Room, etc. read more

I live in Miami during the work week, and have joined Barry's there. On Fridays I am back home in Atlanta so I go to Barry's then. As much as I like the Barry's in Miami, I like the Atlanta location in Buckhead even better. Barry's is in the Shops at Buckhead. They validate parking so you can park in the garage right there. Super convenient. The staff is very nice, the retail area is well laid out. The instructors there are very helpful and encouraging. They don't yell and and curse at you like some Bootcamp instructors. The best part is the cold towel when you finish your workout. I really wish they would add this in Miami, but oh well. If you want to get in shape or continue to be in shape, I can't imagine a better way to do it. It isn't cheap, but you get what you pay for. Go Barry's!!! read more

I have only been to Barry's once, purely because I was skeptical of the entire process... I did not like the idea of someone "bootcamp style" yelling at me to run faster. Some friends convinced me to go and I absolutely loved it. Sure, there are loads of people in the class that are really in shape but the instructor, Korey, just pushed you to do the best you could do. I did not feel pressured to go further than my body should go. Truly enjoyed Sunday School and will be back for a workout and a smoothie soon! read more

Overview: Opened Nov 2017 so it's very new, very clean, and very hip. This is the place to wear your cute work-out clothes, get an intense workout in 50 minutes (+5 min cooldown stretch), recover with a $10 smoothie, take a shower in clean facilities, and then head on your merry way. It's the most considerate gym I've ever been to, and I think they take care of everything that could you need or miss. My favorite classes were with Jamaal and Korey, but only if they were small (which you don't know until you get there and see how many have signed up beforehand. Reservations required. It's because they're easy to see (hey, it's a dark room in there, and they go through a lot of exercises I haven't done before) and have even corrected my form. Cons: * Pricey at ~$30/class, but prices are transparent on their website - https://www.barrysbootcamp.com/pricing/atlanta/. Plus, it's expensive to be at the Shops at Buckhead * Loud, but they provide ear plugs. Instructors are very easy to hear b/c they all wear headsets, but can be hard to see because * Dark, room is pretty dark and there's odd red lighting. I thought it weird at first, but got used to it, and actually like how it helps you focus on yourself rather than other people * Parking, I hate the parking deck there (I have to park there every day for work), they're so narrow and the concrete pillars are huge. However, they do validate parking. * Small space, you have just enough space, not that you need a lot, but sometimes I bumped into the person in front/behind me. Barry's is one of those things I missed when I left Nashville. When I found out that Barry's was in Atlanta, I was super excited. Barry's is located in the super chic Buckhead shoppes including Jimmy choo and Flywheel. In one small block, you have the three major power houses of exercise: Flywheel, SoulCycle and Barry's bootcamp. When rating exercise classes, I consider a few things A) environment of class B) instructors/difficulty C) Showers+amenities D) PARKING. Barry's is a combined treadmill and strength class that lasts about 50mins. You alternate between each aspect. The whole class is lit in a red glow which I think is fun and it makes you look super skinny in the mirrors. The lights + the pop/hip-hop make it very club esque-- which really helps the time fly. The instructors change out frequently and so far I thought they were on par with Nashville. High energy for sure. Showers here are really nice and clean. Towels provided with Oribe products. PARKING: aka my arch nemesis. There is a deck right next to the studio. You park on B1. Parking is 3 hours free with class. Make sure to get a validation slip on your way out. read more

Barry's, as it claims, is the best workout in the world. What makes it so great is not just the workout - high-intensity training by alternating between the treadmill and strength-training - but the people. EVERY instructor is first-rate. They blow away those at Blast, Flywheel, Orange Theory...you name it. Their fitness knowledge, passion and ability to seamlessly lead class makes challenging exercise quite fun and addictive. They are always watching your form in-class and out-of-class they are happy to give you pointers. There is no weak link instructor, no bad class. I came to Barry's badly out of shape, a couch potato for almost two decades. Barry's is a great place for a beginner to start because they have the most comfortable treadmills in the world (the only treadmills a friend with a titanium hip can run on). More importantly, the management, employees and culture are so welcoming. I've lost 23 pounds over four months and increased my HDL by 50 percent. I couldn't care less what they charge because what you get is leagues beyond that of other studios. That said, if you commit, whether by investing in a membership or buying classes in bulk, it's very reasonable. The Fuel Bar is a fantastic feature. You choose from a large variety of meal replacement shakes all of which taste great and are guilt-free because the calories/carbs/protein are disclosed. This is by far the best workout in ATL! I've lived in LA and started at the Barry's there. You sweat, you see beautiful fit people, and you leave feeling amazing. There is a really nice lounge, shower ,and bathroom. The staff is always friendly and helpful! The trainers are always hard ... no joke . Your body will transform after a few consecutive classes. I first heard of Barry's bootcamp through LA's digital influencers. So I was curious to try out the workouts here and see if it's really what they claim it to be - a boujee, but intense HIIT class. I came and I loveddd the workouts here. If you're looking to get your butt in shape than this is definitely the place to go. The studio is aesthetically pleasing, white, minimal, and modern. However, the workout room itself is super dark with red lighting...almost like an inferno theme? The music gets you pumped and ready to sweat, and I like the idea of doing interval training between strength and cardio so the workouts never get boring - typically 6-7 min intervals of treadmill and floor. You also have the option to just stay on the floor (Strength) throughout the whole class. Plus the Oribe products in the locker rooms got me feeling some type of way...lol Parking - park in the deck, there are signs guiding you and grab a parking validation at the gym's check-in counter - they have it laid out so you can just grab it. They have their own juice/smoothie bar and it takes forever, but you can place a pre-order before so you can pick it up as soon as you finish your workout. $3.75 for Barry's logo water if you forget to bring your own - purchase at the check-in counter. They provide towels. I took off one star, just because the instructor tends to move quickly through the floor exercises, so if you're new and not familiar with some of the technique, it's hard to know if you're doing it right especially since these classes get so packed. read more

After all the hype, I was excited about trying Barry's but I was a little disappointed. It definitely was a good workout but it went so quickly in a dark room at such high intensity that I was constantly worried I was going to injure myself. No time is given to set up or learn the proper form for the exercises and people are encouraged to push as hard and fast as they can at the risk of hurting themselves. This may work for others, but it just did not feel safe or productive to me. I'd much rather learn the proper form and try to avoid another sports injury even if it adds an extra 30 seconds to the start of the exercise. read more

So I witnessed the oddest thing. There was an Asian girl working the front desk check-in and she was wearing one of the store's merchandise (bright silver jacket that retails for $168!!!) with the tag on that she did not purchase for her own personal use. She told her co-worker that she was cold, which is why she was wearing merchandise that she did not purchase. This is extremely unprofessional and more importantly, completely unhygienic for employees to WEAR merchandise intended for purchase for their personal use WITHOUT buying it!!! Oh and she had walked out of the building to go purchase a cupcake from next door with the jacket on and proceeded to eat the cupcake while working front desk. LOL. I guess management is also very laid back that being unprofessional while at work is tolerated. All of this happened in a 10 minute time frame while I was waiting for my class to start. I hope every customer is aware that their employees wear their merchandise with tags on and sell the same soiled, used merchandise. Disgusting!!!! And I guess this is the norm at Barry's because NOT ONE co-worker of hers said anything to her. read more

Again as I have explained numerous times I am not physically able and very intimidated by doing group classes and find EXTREMELY frustrating doing group classes. The general manager and staff at Barry's is very insensitive to a client who has issues with doing group classes and was rude and treated me horribly again they do not understand that due to issues why and treated me like a mentally retarded person and were not very understanding of someone who finds group classes threatening because in a class setting I am treated like despicable human being by the staff and other clients for not being beautiful and in no way eased my discomfort. I've been waiting for Barry's to open here for a while and i'm so glad they're finally here! Location and parking isn't the greatest. Depending on the time, traffic can be terrible so you'll have to factor that in before heading to class. The other studios i've been to were in California and i will have to say the Atlanta location is much nicer and more spacious. I haven't had a chance to try out all the instructors yet but so far, you're guaranteed to walk out drenched in sweat no matter which instructor you get. The classes and package deals are a bit pricier than other locations which is weird. Right now i'm popping in at least once a week. If the prices were more reasonable, i'd definitely come more often. I've tried blast plus, orange theory, all others and Barry's is my favorite out of all. I would highly recommend Barry's to anyone who hasn't tried it yet. read more

Barrys has the best high intensity cardio/strength training workouts . I have been taking Drew's classes since earlier this year and have noticed a significant difference in my muscle tone, strength, weight, and overall body composition and have become so much stronger than when I first started. I kind of have mixed feelings about this place and I'd probably give it a 3.5 but rounded up to a 4. It's located in the shops at Buckhead and the parking deck is convenient and free since Barry's validates for it! Just don't forget to get a validation slip on your way out. The workers range from being really friendly and nice to snooty and stuck-up but hey it's Buckhead so... The pros: the amenities are so nice! They have lockers and clean showers as well as shampoo, conditioner, towels, lotion, etc. The work out classes are challenging but a good workout and you can scale it to as hard or as easy as you want (unless you have a pushy instructor that throws passive aggressive statements when you stop to rest but I've only run into that once.) The cons: the room is pretty dark and sometimes the instructors don't show the exercises in the optimal location so it can be hard to see what they're demonstrating. There's also no personalized tips so the instructors are usually reading out what exercises to do or what speed to run but they RARELY to never correct someone's form. I go to this class through ClassPass so I don't know a lot about pricing but it's pretty high up there on credits for ClassPass so I'm assuming it's pretty pricy. Overall a great class worth trying though and I go about once a week pretty consistently! read more

Barry's Bootcamp Atlanta is by far the best fitness studio in the area. As someone who has tried most of the Buckhead fitness scene, I can absolutely say that this experience is unparalleled. The actual workout itself is incredible. By alternating between cardio on the treadmill and strength training on the floor, you are always guaranteed a fantastic workout every class. Additionally, the diverse instructor group ensures that each workout is unique and allows clients to find the style that suits them best. More importantly, the staff is unbelievable. From front deskers to fuel bar members and maintenance staff to instructors, every member of the team works hard to ensure clients have the best possible experiences. On numerous occasions, I have witnessed team members making on the spot accommodations for their clients, going out of their way to meet each client's individual needs i.e. providing extra fans in the Red Room, giving out free smoothie samples, bringing cold towels to clients during the workout, etc. Additionally, the staff always calls clients by their names, making the experience more than just a workout and fostering a genuine sense of family/community. Lastly, I have visited other Barry's studios in the country and, while they were also great, I honestly feel like the overall experience that Atlanta provides is unmatched. I think this speaks to the management of the Atlanta studio. The extra time and effort management puts into special events, studio decoration, individual experience and class design really sets this studio apart. Interesting how many of these reviews mention the frustrating parking and very expensive class costs at over $32 per visit. I was just in Nashville and they offered a holiday package in December : 5 visits for $75=$15.00 a visit. Why are these Atlanta prices so unreal? I guess if people aren't embarrassed to pay that and can afford it, why not charge it. Traffic and parking for this location is a challenge unless your chauffeur drops you off after you shopped for a pair of $1,000 shoes. This location is my least favorite out of all the locations I have visited. I am biased though because I find that whole development to be so manufactured and without personality. read more

The staff seems more concerns with wearing the apparel than really making sure the customer gets the right experience and feel at "home." $30.00 a class, no free trial period, and a hectic drive to get there. Not good customer service at the Fuel Bar. Idk why? I think some of the staff members are excited by the L.A. theme and encourage trying on clothes and working on outside work rather than help each other out like teammates. Smoothies are really pricey and not consistent as someone who blends my own juices like ginger and makes smoothies at home. I grew up in Buckhead and was excited when this workout came to the area after hearing about it from my New York friends who love it. Unfortunately, the staff, particularly the general manager, are EXTREMELY rude, judgmental and conceited, NOT welcoming or helpful. They seem to be only after your money, not customer service. They are also extremely inflexible - I was put on a wait list for a class but never told that I was removed from it, or the procedure on how to proceed, then they charged me for the class AND a $20 (!) no-show fee (on-top of the $32 class charge, without ever telling me I was off the wait list. It is really a shame that this location is so rude and pretentious, because I've heard great things about the company overall from my friends in other cities. I think the unpleasantness mostly comes down to the pretentious and money-hungry management. I've considered calling corporate to complain. I would advise staying away, as there are kinder and more accepting studios in the area with equally intense workouts. The Soul Cycle staff could not be more welcoming and helpful. read more

literally the most boujee place i've ever been i don't know how these people afford it. i got a gift card for christmas but like bruh. they have a "fuel station" outside with NINE DOLLAR SMOOTHIES and you can order your smoothie to be made and ready for you after class (i didn't get one). the class is alternating between floor and treadmill. i started on the floor and today was a full body workout so we did 9 minutes on the floor doing like dumbbells and squats and stuff with the elastic band and the goal is to do it until your muscles tire out. then we went 9 minutes on the treadmill and it was so nice but you do speed intervals and i got too cocky and started too fast and died. then you go back to the floor for 12 minutes and we did like back workouts and dumbbell rows and i was sweating like a crazy person, and then we laid back on this elevated matt thing with our dumbells and did abs. then we ended on the treadmill for 12 minutes doing varying inclines in intervals which was harder than i thought. you'd have little recovery periods and then we went back and stretched. you would like be encouraged to high five the person next to you and the music was so good and the instructor was , he would run around and check on everyone. THEN I WENT TO THE SHOWERS and like it was marble and soooo nice i was like damn. also you sweat soooo much so if you're trying to have a good hair day and go out afterwards, don't do barry's that day. you should def do it before you're washing your hair. overall really good experience and def my kind of workout, you never do one workout for too long and can take it at your own pace, but you def have to be in shape. read more
