    Outdoor wine tasting Oak Knoll

This park is absolutely stunning. If you want to get away and do a hike, this is the spot. The only warning I give which was a bummer is they open at 10 AM on the spot. Don't go in any earlier as they will kick you out even if you want to just sit in your car enjoying your gaze at the view from the inside of your car. I was with some plein air painters and they asked to enter because of the lighting; still no - dang tight on the rules and the painters were nice plus they bought wine later (so boo there). Good to know that the restrooms are clean - there's one by the Villa then at the South Gate Trail another 2. Their website had 3 good pdf's you can look at to get a better idea of the area. It was good advice too on the hike as I am outta shape so I did the North Trail to Angel's Flight which landed me at the South Trail. The other is the You-Walk Miwok trail which had the bonus of another Climber's Delight. But if you can do it, I bet it's spectacular. I came across a hiker who said she does it 3 times a week as I was sitting catching my breath back. Her best advice was "it's not a competition". So true as take your time as then you'll hear something whirring near by and it'll be a humming bird or remember to look up as the birds are gliding up high. Lizards all over saying hi, butterflies and dragonflies. Also the wild flowers were in bloom. I wanted to try the winery but they weren't very welcoming. Maybe you all will have better luck. I was the only one in there. I asked if he had port which he said no. But he never gave me a sales sheet so I'd have to guess what he had. Then a usual customer came in who he gave all his attention. So I bailed as I would have bought the Roussanne/Marsanne-oh well. I really enjoyed the time to sit on a picnic table as they were shaded, clean, separated so you had your privacy from others. Even nice garbage cans and recycling. The other visitors were nice and chill. It was a fun adventure and if you want wine, I'd turn over toward Buena Vista Winery visit with "The Count" and check out the caves! My pics are North Gate Trail, Angel's Flight then ended South Gate Trail (you'll walk by Buena Vista Winery so you can get a peek).

Just a beautiful place in Sonoma with a breathtaking view of the Sonoma Valley. This is a private home which is where I work .

We rented bicycles and cycled along the bike trail through vineyards to Bartholomew park. The park had just recently reopened after repairing damage from the 2017 wildfires. The park has 375 acres of vineyards, hiking trails, and forest. The park is also home to Count Agoston Haraszthy's original residence and vineyard. The residence is a replica of the original villa that stood here. You can tour the villa on weekends during select hours. The park grounds are stunning to explore and enjoy. There is a three-mile trail that takes you past a duck pond and windmill, weaves through the forest, vineyards, and opens up to a view of the San Fran Bay. The park is maintained by a private foundation. Bartholomew Estate Winery is also located on the property and has a long-term lease on the 21 acres of organically grown vineyards and winery site. The winery building and tasting room were once a hospital. At the time of our visit they had three wines to taste. They were all well structured. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. Be sure to walk towards the back of hte building to enjoy their art exhibit on display. They also have a stunning outdoor tasting area located beneath beautiful oak trees.

Nice place for a "quick" (2-3 hours) hike. Went when the park opened (10 am) on a Sunday. Some steep areas but nothing too bad. Will defiantly do again.

Trail is pretty well maintained with stairs in plces.

It's our 40th anniversary and we wanted to do a little COVID safe getaway. We are staying at the BW Sonoma (have stayed here many times and love it). This park and the estate winery is very close to downtown Sonoma. We did the approximately 3-mile loop walk thru vineyards and redwoods, took us about 90 minutes. Then we bought a bottle of delicious Sauvignon blanc and enjoyed a picnic on the lawn under a tree overlooking the vineyards. It makes for a perfect day and was very COVID safe!

Beautiful park with beautiful trails. There are maps all throughout the trail, making it nearly impossible to get lost. The park itself and parking are free! Although there are a limited amount of parking spots, I saw many people park down the road and take a stroll through the vineyard to get to the park. The entire place is clean and picturesque - lots of families able to keep their distance while picnicking. The trails can be narrow and complex at some points so they suggest proper hiking shoes!

We had come by the winery for an event a few weeks ago and learned about the adjacent hiking trails so today we decided to check them out. It is really such a lovely area and quite fun to set off through a vineyard to begin the trail hike. I will say that as a recent transplant from Florida (aka flatlander) this was a hike that got my heart rate pumping a few times and there were a few stream crossings that required a bit of dexterity and sure footedness. I would be curious to see what those areas are like in the rainy season. I imagine it might be challenging. Overall we quite enjoyed ourselves and plan to go back and tackle the areas we missed today. This will be a go to place to bring guests who want a bit of a hiking adventure and a wine country experience all at once. You don't feel as guilty about your wine tasting after hiking a few miles.

I actually found where to park from now on if trying to roam this touristy part of town, instead of trying to find a space near the park and all the retail businesses. Much more room back there without the traffic due to parking sharks stalling traffic. This is pretty much an up and back so not a loop. It goes about a little over a mile up in a gradual fashion about 600 feet in elevation gain. Nothing strenuous but will get your cardio revving. About 50/50 shade/sun ratio but once up top it is all exposed. Up top there is a great view of the valley below. It is worth the trek. Went on a Sunday afternoon and it was pretty popular. Probably saw over 30 peeps either coming or going. I bet it is much more relaxed on the weekdays, which will be my next op. Trust. Great workout, picturesque views, clean air, and lots of entertainment just minutes below this trailhead. So glad I found this, only took me 20 years of visiting this town to find it. The sad thing is it burned down right before completion so they never got to live in the house. The use of stones and rock kept a lot of the walls despite the fire and it reminds me of of an oversized version of a Greene and Greene style Craftsman Bungalow I saw in Pasadena, CA. If you are a fan of abandoned places you will like coming here. It's fenced off for safety so you can't go running around the structures but you can do a full 360 walk around and there is a platform you can walk on that's about in the middle of the house and you get a good view of the pool and different floors from here. The hike from the parking lot to the museum and to the grave sites and house are easy, my senior parents and young kids were able to do it easily. I would stop by the museum on the way back, there are some nice artifacts from Jack London as well as a scale model of what the hosue was supposed to look like.

I was there for an hour admiring the flowers and different varieties of gourds and vegetables growing. You can rent a private plot for 200 dollars and lots of elderly people were tending to their plants happily and chatted with us as we walked around. A lovely community garden beloved by the old and young. Definitely recommend a trip here and especially on Saturdays when you can get some super fresh garden produce. Cute place.

We are getting into camping this year and this was our trial run with all the new gears we bought. We rented camper site #1 which is labeled as "premium". Maybe it was a bit bigger than the regular sites but other than that it didn't feel particularly premium. Since #1 and 48 are the first and last sites in the campground loop and closest to the visitor center, they had the best WiFi reception. The downside is we were the farthest to the bathrooms and showers which were located on the opposite site of the loop. This made trekking over at night a bit inconvenient. The bathrooms were somewhat clean and the showers are coin-operated at the cost of 25c per minute. Shampoo and body wash were provided which is nice. All in all this was a nice introductory experience for us. If we were to come back to camp at this park we will opt for site #3 which is nicely tucked into the shaded corner and is fairly close to the bathrooms.
