They kept directing us to the Barrington Club Park which is a few miles away. Anywho, once you find it, it is an awesome park. It has 140+ parking spaces and the area is huge. Perhaps its new, so thats why its awesome, but the grass was lush and green. They have soccer fields, tennis courts, basketball courts, volleyball sand courts, a giant shelter to host BBQs, bocci ball courts, and nice clean bathrooms. Since the park is new, the trees were still somewhat small, so there wasn't a whole lot of shade besides the shelter they have there. The shelter can probably house at least 50 people easily with nice and clean tables. I'm writing this with a sunburnt forehead and upper shoulders. I usually don't get burnt but apparently I should have put on sunscreen. Definitely check this place out if you're looking for a park to relax and play around and/or to host a nice sized BBQ. BATHROOM REVIEW: The bathrooms are located right next to the shelter. Inside, you will see a couple of urinals and a nice sturdy stall. The inside of the bathroom was rather dim, but maybe its because it was so darn sunny outside. Anywho, they didn't have paper towels but a nice hand dryer. For now, there were no mosquitos and it was super clean. The stall looked very sturdy. Sit or squat? I'd sit after a long day of playing. Aint nobody got time to squat

Not to mention a free splash pad if weather cooperates! It's small, but it seemed clean and parents were present and on top of things here. It did say on the website that the splash pad would start at 11:00. It didn't start until 11:10. But the tiny parking lot close to it filled up at around 10:45. So getting here early would be beneficial. There is also a covered gazebo -- so bring a lunch when the kiddos get hot and tired of the sun. There is a port-a-potty too in case the little ones need to use the bathroom. Visit if you can!

The playground itself is not very shaded, though they've planted trees so hoping there is natural shade in a few more years. There's a play space for handicap accessibility, one for toddlers and smaller kids, and one for big explorers. This playground can keep kids entertained for quite a while with all there is to explore. Very unique options!

So, if you seek a respite from the oft visited Pioneer Park, walk a few blocks northwest and visit Cronin. You'll find a small playground with a handful of swings, tiny walking/biking path around the park, a few benches to plop down and a killer location just a few blocks from downtown Arlington Heights. This area of town is one of my faves due to its fab location nestled among lovely historic homes. While my kiddo isn't ready to run around and play, this park is certainly on my radar for future *quiet* play dates!

It is convienently located yet quiet enough to enjoy your time there. Children's programs can be found in the summer. In the winter the park is beautifully decorated and is home to the official Arlington Heights Christmas tree.

Hill Climb Park has a modest setup: a sand pit, 4 swings, a jungle gym with 3 slides, etc. what seems to be the favorite are the 2 wooden truck structures and the train. Our toddler absolutely loves climbing through the tunnels of the jungle gym and sliding down the slides over and over and over again. He also loves climbing in and around trucks and train and pretending to drive them. This might not be the most exciting playground for an older kid but, because it's within walking distance it does the trick for us.

In addition…read moreto the playground, there is plenty of field space (open grassy area) where the kids can run around outside the playground area, along with a baseball field, and even a port-a-potty. There are two playground sections and swing areas. One on side, it's geared towards tots and little ones, ages 2-5. Smaller scaled slides, bridges, monkey bars and climbers. It also has a counter area under the playset. My kids love to play 'ice cream' here, where one stands behind the counter and the other 'orders' ice cream. Lol...they've been doing this a while at many other parks, but started a trend on one particular day at Marsh Park...and all the other kids joined in with them. There are two dinosaur 'riders' in this area, and there is also a merry-go-round-type spinning ride where the kids can either site inside or climb on the outside...this is a particular hit with my kids and judging from the times we've been here so far, all other kids too, and all ages! 4 swings in this area, all with the baby seat. The other side of the playground is geared towards the older kids. 4 swings here, but the standard swing seats for bigger kids/teenagers/adults. Climbing structure includes slides, climbing wall, monkey bars, bridges, jumping spring 'pods'. It's a nice obstacle climbing from one end of the play set to the other. My kids love the telescope included here, and the games (driving wheel, gear turners) included in this play set. Even though it's geared towards the older kids, my 3 and 5 year old are comfortable on this set as well...though, have to pay a little extra attention to the 3 year old since it's a little high for him to climb. I really like the landscaping at Marsh Park. Pretty trees line the playground and play area, wood chips in the playground area, and nice brick to provide seating around the perimeter, though there is also a picnic table and a few benches. We've been here 3 out of the last 5 days this week in the 80 degree weather, but the equipment doesn't get so hot to touch that the kids are uncomfortable. And we were here on a late afternoon/early-evening one night when the EGV Park District little league was playing in the ball field. That was fun to watch from the playground. It's a nice quiet neighborhood as well with residential homes surrounding the area...residents are fortunate to live so close to this park! If you are driving here, lots of parking space around the perimeter of the park.
