The park has a playground for children, which includes a jungle gym, swings, slides, etc. There are many benches around the play ground. Also, a picnic table and gazebo are available next to the beach volleyball net. This is the reason why the park is always busy during summertime. Many people have their parties here. Teens also come and play soccer and basketball during the day. The parking lot is large and private. There is a bike trail around the Beirman Park and the Heritage Lake. It's a very convenient for biking and walking. I come to this park with my children every other week during the summer to stay in shape and also enjoy the beautiful scenery, weather, and sounds of nature. Many people go fishing at the lake. Not to mention a free splash pad if weather cooperates! It's small, but it seemed clean and parents were present and on top of things here. It did say on the website that the splash pad would start at 11:00. It didn't start until 11:10. But the tiny parking lot close to it filled up at around 10:45. So getting here early would be beneficial. There is also a covered gazebo -- so bring a lunch when the kiddos get hot and tired of the sun. There is a port-a-potty too in case the little ones need to use the bathroom. Visit if you can!

There are a bunch of slides, sings + even little animals + critters hidden in the "wooden" climbing structures. Our little guy (1.5y/o) had a blast running around + could easily access everything himself. I, of course, was super close by. A word of caution: there are A LOT OF BUGS! I have no idea what kind, but they are everywhere! They don't bite but they are a bit of a nuisance.

I haven't been here in the winter season yet, but apparently you can ice skate on the pond when it's frozen during winter, too. Don't let me just tell you how gorgeous this lake is, see for yourself! Many people also fish here, but during certain times, the lake has green algae, so I wouldn't recommend being that close to the water if there are signs out.

There's a lot to see here and a variety of ways you can head on the path. I saw plenty of people fishing, no boats out yet, and a lot of other dogs and strollers. If your dog is not good around many other dogs or people, this might not be the place for you to walk on a busy day. But I did notice other directions you can walk, away from the water, that doesn't have as much traffic. The views are nice (if you can get past the fact that the giant mound you're seeing is garbage underneath) and the grounds seem well-kept and clean. There's plenty of parking, too. The only negative is getting around the goose poop and some litter blowing around in areas. But overall, it is a nice place to get some exercise in.

Fortunately for me, this was more than a quick walk as there are about 16 sculptures located throughout the park all which are quite distinct from one another and good for fun photo taking opportunities. Sculptures here range from a wooden arch to steel structures to chiseled rock to a giant muse and even a colorful giant sundial. While not as large as the sculpture park in Skokie or University Park, there's not too many options in the area (unless you also count Morton Arboretum). Overall, worth a visit if you're in the area at all. It's fun and free, and maintained nicely.

As the name suggests this park is made up of an island and several bridges in the middle of the Fox River. There is a walking and running trail, fishing spots (with the appropriate permits of course), and benches and shaded places to sit and enjoy the nature. While we were visiting, the trees had turned color in the fall and added to the beauty of the area. There are some fantastic places to take pictures. The park even comes with a gigantic American flag. For a beautiful park to experience and enjoy, I highly recommend Walton Island Park!
