I had heard the name Bashinski's for many years even before moving to Macon. It was widely known that if you wanted the VERY best in jewelry that was "the place" to go, especially for engagement rings. I have had many friends over the years whose rings came from there and each piece is truly a work of art. I dreamed of one day owning a "Bashinski piece" for myself. I had avoided businesses where you had to "be buzzed in at the door" and took that as a sign that I simply could NOT afford to shop there. When my beloved Mother was put into Hospice care she asked me why I never wore her diamond watch (she bought it in 1969 for $500). The black band had long been deteriorated. She asked me to wear it EVERYDAY and not to just wear on special occasions. It really meant so much to her so I decided because of her ailing health to have it made into a bangle bracelet. I felt an urgency to get this done so she could see the finished product. On a day off from work I went to Bashinski's (wearing jeans, no makeup, & my hair up in a clip) I felt embarrassed about my appearance but they indeed buzzed me in and I asked to see Stephen Bashinski in person if possible. That was the BEGINNING of my LOVE of this man, his staff, this business. He met with me, heard my story and basically did a RUSH on my Mothers watch into a beautiful diamond bangle bracelet. It is TRULY my favorite piece of jewelry. And my beloved Mother DID get to see it before her death. She was so so happy that day I let her open that "little white box"! I am proud to say that I now own four Bashinski pieces! Don't let that locked door keep you away, they will buzz you in no matter what you are wearing. There is no other jeweler that compares to Stephen Bashinski &Bashinski Jeweler's. I have a family ring that was given to me from my mother after my grandmother passed. The ring had to be cut of my grandmothers finger and it was never repaired until I found Bashinski's. Stephen gave me many options to repair and replace the shank of the ring. I chose a style that upon completion did not really suit the era of the ring. I liked it but did not love it and despite the mistake being completely on me, Stephen chose and hand crafted a design that fit perfectly. I am in love with my grandmothers ring all over again.
