"My aim is to put down on paper what I see and what I feel in the best and simplest way." -Ernest Hemingway
So much interesting to see here even if it is a smaller museum. Lots of interactive displays and artisans at work. As I "write" this review on my laptop computer, I realize that paper is an art that is slowly being lost.
Great little gift shop. I picked up two beautiful birthday cards (not cheap) with my daughter and my wife's upcoming "round numbers" that I hope will be appreciated. I think my friend Klaus-Dieter might appreciate their pens for sale.

Pretty nice and suggestive museum. It is perfect for families and big groups with children and teenagers. Many are the possible activities: from paper making to water marbling, the Basler Papiermühle is well known by tourists coming from all over the world.
Staff members are sweet with children, patient and willing to answer new questions.
I really recommend it for a nice day with the family. read more
The museum is a bit small but it was pretty interactive which I liked. We made our own paper and explained to us the methods. You can also type in the typewriter. Write some calligraphy on the different materials ie feathers, thick pencils on how they were used before. There is also marbling where they teach you how to do a paper decoration technique. All of the activities are included in the ticket but you even see them make the paper in the premise. Really satisfied overall read more
Lovely museum, that is actually still an operational paper mill today. We were told artists still purchase their paper for its unique quality. The museum offers lots of hands on activities. We made paper, from scratch! We also did marbling and printing. It was a very interesting and unique experience. There's a cafe out front so you can relax with a beer or a cup of coffee. Allocate a few hours to spend there if you want to do the hands on stuff. The museum is situated in a cute neighborhood, which would've been great to walk around and explore. Wish we had more time but we had to catch a plane back home. read more
