The aquarium makes for a great adventure any time, any season, but it is especially great for days that are hot or cold, and if it's rainy or snowing. You can explore the aquarium as a safe, fun outing when you want to get out of the house and the weather isn't cooperating. My husband and I enjoyed visiting over the years, and when we had our baby last year, we knew it would be a great place for her to visit as well! She's now a year old and she gets excited when we take her out of the car and she realizes where she is. While this is not a massive aquarium, it's truly lovely. I grew up in the northeast and went to the Boston Aquarium countless times, I've been to the Mystic Aquarium, and the Ripley's Aquarium in Toronto as well. Is this one comparable at all in scale and size? No. But it isn't trying to be, either. They talk about sustainability, and what they've done with what is available to them in rehabbing the old industrial building is honestly incredible. Can you zoom through the aquarium in 30 minutes? Probably. But why? Take your time and really appreciate being up close and personal with so many different fish species-we especially enjoy the lion fish and snowflake eel tubes (especially trying to find where the eels are poking and peeking out of, my baby always giggles when she sees them at eye level). While there are some smaller exhibits, check them out and really take in what you're seeing. Watch how the animals interact, look at how their scales change in varying light, check out how they interact with YOU as well. You might just be surprised! Also, while there is quite a bit of reading material spread throughout, it's in easy to read and comprehend blocks. We really enjoy the different zones of the aquarium, and one of our family favorites is the entire shark zone area. Sitting in one of the chairs by the tank and just watching the sharks go by or some of the tropical fish or stingrays zoom by is so relaxing! My baby always relaxes and is so soothed in this area. The aquarium hosts different events throughout the year, and we've enjoyed visiting during the Halloween, Christmas, and Valentine's Day events. I like how they'll have fun trivia and decorate to suit the event. My baby enjoyed the divers during Christmas and how they waved and blew bubbles towards her! They also have activity sheets in both English and Spanish, which is great for bilingual families, and for those that may be encouraging and/or teaching either language to their little ones (when my baby is old enough, I'll be using the Spanish one to help her learn new vocab!) The entire aquarium is very clean (including the bathrooms), there is a changing table in the women's room, and the staff is very pleasant and kind to interact with. I also want to point out that while we often come here as a family, I also bring my baby on my own and have always felt very safe being there with just the two of us.

All my neighbors have been raving about their pizza since I moved back to Cleveland 6 months ago. Well, today I finally tried it. It is exceptional. The pizza was excellent. They use a medium crust and is oven baked. The toppings are excellent, but expensive. I paid $22 for a small pizza which is about the size of a Pizza Hut individual or single serving pizza. I got sausage, pepperoni, onions, and olives. The sauce si very sweet, but appropriate for the type of pizza it is. You have the option for switching out a less sweet marinara. My reason for giving it a 3 out of 5 stars is the prices is much too high. Note to management: Guys, don't rip me off. $2.25 per topping for such a tiny pizza isn't right. I paid $9 alone for the toppings on a very small pizza. Come on! you need to figure out a better pricing strategy than that. I haven't decided if I'll return or not. The pizza was good, but it doesn't justify the price. There are plenty of other places within walking distance. I'm not cheap, but expect just a bit more for my money. Very disappointed.

I like places no one else seems to know about. Its located right off Columbus Road (turn right at Sainato's). Rivergate Park is a very small park located outside Merwin's Wharf. There's a tiny area with public art and another grassy area under the bridge situated right on the river. I recently met a friend here for socially distanced yoga and forgot how much I liked it as a public space. It's quiet except for the gentle hum of the river and ambient traffic noise from the bridge above. But when you're used to a city environment, this feels peaceful. May bother a suburban dweller, though. In general, no one will bother you here. You can park in the small, free lot across the street and walk over. Most of the action in the immediate area will be the traffic coming in and out of the very closeby Merwin's Wharf restaurant run by the Metroparks. Don't expect a sprawling, manicured field here at Rivergate Park, but do accept sufficient green space if you need a peaceful place to hang out. We had fun.

If you've driven nearby The Flats, you've seen this park…read more Over the last few years, more amenities have popped up nearby, including the Downtown Dog Park and newer paved walking paths. You can find this park around Old River Road and West St Clair near the RTA stop literally called Settler's Landing. There's a mid-size fountain in the middle of the area overlooking the river and The Flats East Bank and its walkable enough distance to The Flats West Bank (might seem a bit far though if you're not prepared). This is a wonderful place to watch the sunset! The views over the Cuyahoga River are always beautiful in the summer. The Downtown Cleveland Alliance Clean & Safe Ambassadors do a wonderful job keeping this park tidy, welcoming and neatly landscaped. I love taking walks with my friends and their dogs and bumping into other people and dogs along the way. It's such a cute area. Just be cautious at night as you would in any urban park in the city.

I opted in, and was pleasantly surprised at the history and the way the original artifacts were preserved when possible. The building was otherwise very modern. We were able to see the indoor rowing room, the storage for boats, the Big House and a room believed to be a speakeasy a long time ago. They do summer camps for youth and also a great deal of outreach in the community to let people know about their rowing and sailing programs. Companies can rent out space for events or do team building in the indoor state of the art simulation rowing room. The Cleveland sign out back was a pleasant surprise also. Come visit! You won't be disappointed.

Now, tennis has entered the city as the inaugural (first) WTA event is currently being held in Cleveland. This is an all-female tournament that is part of the US Open Series. 'Tennis In The Land' is a WTA 250 event (250 ranking points to the winner) with the winner getting approximately $10,000 in prize money. The tournament is temporarily housed at Jacobs Pavilion at the Flats neighbourhood of downtown Cleveland. COURTS - Practice courts, main (stadium) court, and other match courts were all within the Flats of downtown Cleveland. Parking lots were available and vendors were present in white tents showcasing their products. I saw a sign for food and drinks but I didn't buy anything. PLAYERS -- Although this tournament is smaller than others, many top players were present including veterans Shuai Zhang from China and Bethanie Mattek-Sands (Zhang won her round of 16 match against Mattek-Sands). Top doubles player E. Shibhara was present as well. French player C. Garcia was part of the international field too. I'm happy to have volunteered as a line ballperson on 21 August and on 25 August which also allowed me to watch some matches because the ball persons didn't stay on the court for the full length of a match (we switched around between points to give each other breaks off the court). Great professional women's tennis event hosted in 2021 on the West Bank of the Flats. It was great…read moreto see a women's professional sporting event, bringing many of the great players from around the world, even former Olympic winners! There were 3 practice courts set up in front of the Aquarium, with two other semi finals courts set up to the left. The final games were held in Nautica Pavilion, with an announcer and the stands to sit and watch the women compete. There were also concessions and t shirt stands made by a local company. I hope this event continues in Cleveland, and on the West Bank of the Flats. It is a perfect spot for it and a great event!

So, I rowed way back in high school and when I moved to Cleveland last summer I thought I might…read morewant to take it up again. Well, things got a little busy and before I knew it I was bogged down with work and school. Thanks to Cara for posting up the Learn to Row info up on Yelp and giving me that little extra push to head down there now that I have more time. The LTR program goes over one day (about 7:30 - 2) and covers everything beginners need to know about rowing on the river in Cleveland (and it also reminds a few of us who have done it before of things we may have forgotten). A little bit of a classroom session with Erik and then down for a boathouse tour and some work on the erg's before hitting the water. The boathouse is beautiful.....and they just moved in a little while ago after the old boathouse burned down. They have a lot of room here and are working hard to improve the area and make it into a Riverfront Park that everyone can enjoy. Lots of room for boats (so many places row out of here: high schools, colleges and universities along with the master rowers and private members). The only thing that I wish the boathouse had, is a nice indoor rowing tank, then it would be complete! For the rest of the day, you'll be out on the water in your 8 with a couple of experienced rowers and a coxswain along with your coach alongside in the launch. They'll teach you everything basic about getting the boat in and out of the water and the fundamentals of the stroke.....and how not to get run over or swamped by the 7-story high ships that come down the Cuyahoga! After such a fantastic day out on the water, I knew I had to sign up for the rest of the summer....these people are fantastic, in reality, it seems more like the Hash House Harriers...they're a "social club with a rowing problem". The group camaraderie was so amazing that I even convinced a fellow Yelper to join up with me too....and I anticipate an excellent summer out on the water! They still have two more Learn to Row programs before the summer rowing league starts up so come on out and give it a try ;o)
