Jared and his team photographed the most memorable day of my life, my wedding day on August 2007 :) The "ice breaker" was our engagement photo session with Jared. When I think of "in studio headshots" I think of my parents taking my sister and I to Sears every year for our annual photos. A little cheesy, lots of floral print dresses from the 80s, and lots of smiles held so long my face hurt haha! Let me state my bias up front - one of the photographers at Bauman is a very good friend's husband. That's ultimately how I learned about this awesome company, but when it comes to photography, I'm not merely looking for a hookup, I'm looking for superb photos. The photographers at Bauman definitely have "it" when it comes to fantastic picture taking, and so far, they've done two of our family's photo sessions. The first session was when our twins were 4 weeks old. Jared promptly showed up at our home at our appointment time, ready to get started. He had suggested doing an at-home photo session to keep the babies comfortable. I was a little skeptical - we don't have backdrops or nice landscaping, so I was curious what he'd come up with. Well, WOW, did he deliver. He explored our home for a variety of background colors and textures (random places that I never imagined would make a good photo), and we tried a little of everything. He had to be patient - the babies cried occasionally, fell asleep, and needed to be fed, all during the photo shoot. We never felt rushed, and he didn't leave until all of us were satisfied with the results. We were thrilled when we saw the photos! We ended up buying a ridiculous amount of them because it was too hard to choose just a couple. We ended up getting 9x12 enlargements of 9 (!!) of them. They are hanging in our stairway, and visitors always comment on them. The second session was with Eder. We haven't seen the results of that session yet, since it was just recently, but all I can say is POOR EDER! Our kids are now two, and they were in crazy mode during our Balboa Park photo shoot. Eder kept his cool the entire time, and if he ever felt frustrated, he sure didn't show it. He maintained his positivity and kept coming up with new ideas to work around the tantrums and tears. I look forward to seeing the proofs - I'm sure there will be something for our Christmas cards! In addition to our two photo shoots, I have seen A LOT of other work from Bauman Photographers. A couple of my friends have had them photograph their weddings, and the photos are fantastic. I have seen them work in bad weather, bad lighting, and with horrible timelines, and they always produce exceptional and creative work. My absolute favorites are their "trash the dress" shoots! I wish I'd done this with my own wedding dress instead of allowing it take up closet space for 5 years. Oh. My. GAWD!!! I am in love with these guys! I just want to shout it from a mountain! We worked with Eder and were so pleased. Like in many of my other wedding reviews I mentioned that we were planning our wedding not from San Diego. We emailed the studio a lot and Eder directly to make plans and "get to know each other." But I know, my humor just comes across weird via email. So I was relieved when we finally got to meet Eder face to face for our engagement session. It was pouring for our engagement session but he worked with it and got some really fun photos. I was pumped up to see what the wedding ones would be like. Geez, they nailed it! When Bauman Photographers did a friends wedding in 2010, I made a mental note that if I were to get married in San Diego, these guys were my first call. Two years later, I booked them for my own wedding, and I cannot stop grinning about it. Their photos speak for themselves. I can write about how fantastic they are, but it makes more sense to go look at them. They have a first-class reputation in the wedding business: I went to buy my wedding dress and was told in a reverent tone, "You have Bauman." The photographers at Bauman have the talent of divas; yet, they have the approachability and quirkiness of your best friend from tenth grade. I just did an engagement photo shoot at Balboa Park, and had no problem being a total nerd. Bronson and Eder did a great job photographing our ceremony in some tricky lighting at JRDN in Pacific Beach. They were very unobtrusive and worked behind the scenes without adding any stress to the day, even though our schedule went off track from the beginning. These guys are crooks. You look at their site and see these great photos from 3 photographers. So we called up the studio manager and made our deposit. However... They did not send the photographer we asked for, they sent an "associate" Let me tell you, that is called bait and switch. We never saw the work of the photographer they sent. Not only that the photographer was less experienced than the photographer of the photos on their website and our wedding photos came out disasterous. Our photographer excluded key guests and needless to say we are very unhappy. Word to the wise, only hire a photographer you can speak directly to and who's work you can see for yourself, not someone else's work. read more

Don't use this photographer unless: 1. You want poorly composed photographs of important events. 2. You want to "do it yourself". After being told by the photographer that they don't know how you want your photos cropped, you spend hours online cropping your images only to find out that they have not been cropped as you directed by Pictage, a mediocre online photo lab which produces the photographs. 3. You want to pay for proofs which you never receive because the photographer takes fewer photos than promised due to leaving your event early. This was a very disappointing experience! read more

We hired bauman photographers to shoot our wedding in April of this year down in San Diego and thought they did an awesome job all around. The owner, Jared, and one assistant shot our wedding from preparation to the end of the reception. Jared had a very pleasant manner and was easy to work with. We had an excellent experience having Bauman Photographers handle the photography for our wedding. We first went to their office for a consultation with Daniel, who was friendly, helpful, and professional. The consultation was very low pressure, and we were able to review wedding albums from several of their photographers before deciding to go with Eder (who happened to be there, so we were able to meet him, too). Eder is awesome. He did both our engagement shoot and the wedding itself, and everything turned out great. His photography is beautiful, and he was able to feel out our personalities easily and make us feel natural and comfortable in front of the camera. I recall at one point dancing with my mom to Daft Punk (a personal highlight of the night), and I see Eder suddenly notice and come running over to snap a few shots before the song ended. My husband and I were married in October, 2011 and had the pleasure of working with Jared as our photographer. During our search for photographers, (and there are plenty out there), we knew that we wanted to find someone who not only took amazing photos both indoors and outside, but would be easy, stress free, and fun to work with.
