This review is so long overdue! Chris was absolutely amazing from start to finish. My husband and I considered not having a videographer (which now is an absolutely crazy thought to me!) but we are so glad our friends and family talked us into it and especially glad we found Chris to capture these beautiful, priceless moments for us. Not only was Chris professional and organized (helped us immensely with our timeline) but he is such a cool person to work with and had such a good vibe - really made it a fun and easygoing process! And the highlight video....don't even get me started because I might start crying...it is so incredibly beautiful, with the music and everything - there was not a dry eye in the room when we watched it with our families. The longer video with our vows and speeches is also priceless, such a treasure. Chris is an absolutely fantastic videographer. He did two video shots for our wedding - a 7 minute highlight reel and a 1.5 hour cut that had all the dances, toasts, etc. Just watching it allowed me to relive my wedding day all over again and I had a huge smile on my face the entire time! Chris is professional, easy to work with, and responsive. He even brought a drone to get some amazing aerial footage for the videos. Chris was AMAZING! He was so easy and fun to work with. He was such a pro with all his amazing tips he gave me and my husband. We absolutely loved how our wedding video turned out and all of our family and friends rave over it! Sometime being on camera can be a little awkward but he really made us feel comfortable and at times we didn't even realize he was there! My husband and friends even joke saying how he was like a fly on the wall because he never got in the way but he still got all the great shots. Chris was awesome! Need I say more? My wife and I got in touch with Chris through the Abbey Catering company and Cuvier Club. I was very particular with picking a videographer especially for a wedding. I've seen film where the bridal party looked posed or stiff from other studios. Not at all the case with SD Photo Studio and Chris Wood. Everything was very natural and Chris was easy to work with. I forgot the cameras were there if anything. Chris actually helped me keep my cool during the anticipation of seeing my bride for the first time by talking about BJJ as I waited lol. Super down to earth and incredibly talented. Chris, our videographer, was absolutely amazing! During the wedding, he captured all of the special moments we wanted and never once got in the way. Guests even said later on - "I didn't even know you had a videographer!" The turn around on our highlight reel was within two weeks of the wedding (perks of a February wedding). We loved the quality- picture, sound & overall artistic talent he brought to the clip. My husband and I were truly on the fence about hiring a wedding videographer and I am SO, SO glad we did. I have watched our wedding video no fewer than 5 times within the first couple months of marriage. We opted for a full length video (ended up being ~37 min long) and it is amazing to relive the day through beautifully captured moments, emotions, ambience, and words said that day. From the start, Chris was really great to work with. I am someone with a ton of questions and want to be very thorough before I make big decisions. Chris responded quickly to my email full of questions and suggested we get on a phone call, even being available late in the evening when I had time. That night and many emails later, Chris answered every single one of my questions and helped educate me on the pros/cons of a videographer and every part of the process along the way. He did try to upsell us several times, but ultimately he was flexible in working with us on exactly what we wanted. From there, he worked really well with our photographer and wedding coordinator. On the day of our wedding, he was nearly invisible as he promised (acknowledging that the wedding photographer usually takes main control on the wedding day), yet I am blown away about the sweet tender moments he was able to capture, how professional and at-ease he was (putting the bride at ease!), yet still being firm enough to nudge our photographers get back on schedule as well. The final product is perfect. Everyone was right that video captures more than photos and as the years pass, it could be the only memory we have of some elderly relatives. I feel like Chris was able to capture our silly side and love of animals (e.g. including video footage of the La Jolla Cove seals), the beautiful ambiance we worked hard to create with his drone footage, all of the emotions of the day, and deliver a phenomenal wedding video that we'll treasure for years to come. read more

Chris photographed my daughter and son in law's wedding and just did a photo shoot for my business (website and collateral material). Both occasions were well done, well planned and the photography was excellent and an excellent value as well. The wedding was a venue with mixed indoor/outdoor at the beach and the shots were amazing. In addition, Chris and an assistant, did pre-wedding shots (in the rooms and outdoors) as well as accommodate a personalized "photo booth" set up by the bridesmaids. The delivery of the pictures was timely as well. For the business photo shoot, Chris was ready to go and had thought out the questions to ask of us and our marketing team. He was flexible and accommodating and this was almost entirely indoor shots with some outdoor and the quality remained consistent. He delivered the shots on time and in the format requested by the marketing team. Also, Chris is a nice guy, easy to work with and has a great eye for composition and color in a shot. I would definitely recommend him for any photo needs. Now I want to get some shots of me and my husband for our 30 year wedding anniversary ;-) read more

I met Chris through a class he taught at UCSD Extension (Digital Darkroom). Having learned that he had a business, I asked him if he would print a couple of large prints of two of my favorite pictures, and actually print one of them on canvas and then stretch and canvas on a wooden frame. In fact, I didn't know this was a 'thing' until it came up in our conversation. After I sent him the digital images, we had a back and forth about certain aspects of the pictures and asked if he could tweak them a bit and send me back the revised images. I said ok, he did, and, of course, the tweaked images were better. I loved the end product. The canvas print hangs where I see it every day, and I never stop loving it. Recently, we celebrated a milestone birthday of my wife and took a picture of all the sons and their wives and children. I thought of Chris and how it would be great to gift each of the sons a canvas print of the whole family. Again, to make a long story short, he did a fantastic job, gave me a good price, finished ahead of the promised date, and the finished products are superb. This man understands customer service, will talk with you, not down to you, and will make sure you get what you want. read more

My husband and I hired Chris for our engagement and wedding photos, and also wedding video coverage - we absolutely loved everything! I think unless you're a model, professional photography can get stagy and sometimes awkward (think prom pictures, or stiff wedding photos) ....since I am not a model, I REALLY appreciated Chris's ability to make us feel comfortable and pick up on our personalities and style. Our pictures are stunning, and genuinely reflect our true selves. We loved all of Chris's photos and video coverage!! All of our friends and family said that going through his photos was like reliving our special day, he really captured every moment. Chris is a magic maker! He provided videography services for my wedding in early October. Before the wedding he worked with us to make sure he was able to capture everything we were looking for. We got married on the beach so, for my husband, a drone was a MUST. On our wedding day Chris was early (!) and extremely professional. He worked well with our photographer and was great at bouncing back and forth between boys and girls getting ready before his assistant came. We got our 5 minute highlight reel 3 weeks after the wedding and can't wait to see the full video. I would definitely recommend Chris to anyone looking to capture their perfect day! 10/10! read more

As an update, Chris was able to get us the online version of our photos fairly quickly - maybe 2 months after the wedding; however, it was one of those online albums that you have to purchase the photos in order to have the actual file. When I emailed Chris about it, he said that he would sell us the digital prints for $100 (we knew that already from our previous conversations) - no problem! He was still working on finishing up the long video, and said that he would just put everything onto some CDs & send it all to us when we were done. Fast forward 10 months... we finally got the CDs and digital delivery (via Dropbox) a few weeks after our 1st anniversary. So that seemed kind of excessive. Chris emailed me before I even said anything, and said that he would give us the digital prints for free because of the delay - great! The reason the review is so much lower than the original is -1 for the length of time it took us to get everything... and -1 for the quality of the long video. The long video was the reason for the delay (lots of technical issues apparently?), but when we got it, the first 5 minutes was just the short video, and then for the remaining 12 minutes, it seemed like they had just thrown some footage together. Chris had let me know that they missed the beginning of my maid of honor's speech because they were eating dinner (at this point, I didn't care too much), but then the footage that we got cut off my maid of honors speech at the beginning AND at the end... and didn't even have any footage of the best man's speech (his speech was after the MOH speech). The good news: we are happy with the photos - they are all so great and the short video is also great! read more
