I now understand why it takes a while to get Bay Area Tree Experts to come to your house to trim your trees. The name itself is a good indication, as they are experts at what they do, and everybody wants them. These guys came in to trim three huge trees that we have never had trimmed before - in the 30 years we've lived in this house. I can say now that we will have them back every year! From the moment they arrived it reminded me of a well-oiled machine. All six men had jobs to do, and it was like they were in chorus with each other. They got the job done quickly, safely, and professionally. I have to believe that they have worked together a long time; it was amazing to watch. Buyer Beware! The landscape designers charge astronomical fees just to give you A quote unlike other reputable designers. I was out almost $1,000 just for them looking at my yard and giving me a proposal. When asked for them to do actual landscape, only $45 of all this money spent would be applied to the landscape. The name should read "Bay Area Bate and Switch". Absolutely terrible business practices. Unmarked trees as far as prices allowed for employees to complete a transaction paid in full, only to receive a call the day before delivery/installation to be told that the tree was undersold and either need to pay higher price or refund. When held to the contract, after taking a vacation day for the installation and being assured that the tree would be planted that day, at the end of the day the owner Larry called to berate me personally accuse me of wrong doing and advise that they would not be there but would at some point in the following week however he could not say when. They are total scam. The salesman who sold the tree told me that he made a mistake. The lady who called admitted that the salesman made a mistake. The salesman told me that he told the owner it was completely his fault. I did nothing wrong except to expect them to carry out the contract as I had done my part by paying in full in advance and agreed to a no warranty contract on the tree. After the non delivery and the accusatory call from the owner it became clear that if they actually ever did install the tree there was a high likelihood that the owner would sabotage the tree causing it to die. i was paying $500 which I cannot not afford to risk after witnessing his behavior. i highly recommend that buyer beware at this place. The employees are either incompetent, untrained or have no authority to make/complete transactions and are subject to sabotage by the owner if he is unhappy with their actions and in his mind it is the customer who must pay. I assume he is used to over charging causing him to freak out, act extremely unprofessional and rude. If you do business with them.......good luck. read more

I have used Bay Area Tree Trimmers and Bay Area Design and Landscaping. Both are exceptional and provide the BEST service. Amanda and Mardel are very creative landscape architects and go the extra mile to make your dreams come true. The crews were on time everyday and I have never watched anyone work harder than what they do. All of my plants are thriving. My courtyard is my bit of my Mediterranean and I am enjoying a glass of wine and listening to the fountain. By the way, a special thanks to the irrigation specialist. What a helpful guy. I got three estimates to remove a large tree that was rotting and the woodpeckers had destroyed it. It was close to the house and power line and would have caused a lot of damage if it fell. Bay Area Tree Experts came out promptly and provided a written estimate. They were by far the cheapest and most professional. They scheduled the removal with in a few days of me approving the estimate. The crew came out while I wasn't home and removed the tree and ground the stump. They did a great job and left the site clean. I will be using them for my future tree maintenance. read more

My wife and I are more than impressed with the service we received. their crew showed up as scheduled and removed all of the palms and oakes in a very workmanlike manner and did a fantastic job of not only grinding down the stumps but all of the associated roots that lay near the surface. Not sure they are even in business anymore. I wanted some major landscaping done and was referred to them but they don't answer the phone. Went with MAAS Nursery instead. Also called about firewood and again they don't answer the phone during the middle of the day. If they are not out of business they run the place like they would like to be. read more

I cannot recommend these people. There are a myriad of problems with the way they conduct business, and they are definitely NOT handicapped accessible. My first encounter with them was almost two years ago when I asked for an estimate to prune a live oak tree in my front yard that had some serious issues. It took them almost two weeks to come by and send an estimate. When they did, they included in the price work on two other trees that should not have been in the bid. The price was exhorbitant. I called them back and asked them to bid what I had asked them to do. The resulting estimate was barely $100 less than the original, but by this time all I cared about was having the tree properly pruned. The day the crew finally showed up they worked for a short while, and then a man who seemed to be their foreman rang the doorbell to collect for the job. I stepped out the door, looked at the tree, and saw that they had addressed less than half of the dead branches and bony "fingers". He told me not to worry. They would take care of it but he had to collect the check first. I paid him. A very short while later I went out to see how the job was coming along and they had left. I called the office repeatedly and emailed them. No one ever responded....until almost four months later when someone named "David" called and left a message on both my home and cell phone. He said he had driven by to look at my tree and didn't really know what was wrong with it except someone had probably cut the roots when our front sidewalks were being replaced. BALONEY! According to my next door neighbor the tree had the problems I was trying to solve when she moved there NINE YEARS AGO. I finally paid someone else to properly trim the tree and then we pumped iron down to it. Now it seems to be flourishing. read more
